Why are black people entitled to awards just for being black? Aren't the Oscars about celebrating talent?
My reaction to this whole thing is complete amazement that people still care about the Oscars. Plenty of films/people have undeservedly won/been nominated for Oscars over the years to the point the Academy's credibility has been almost completely eroded away (at least to me). The only reason people care now is because social justice whining is "in" at the moment.

>Oscars
>about celebrating talent

You are kidding, right?

After Crash won the Best Picture award, I thought everybody knew the Oscars were a complete joke... Maybe some people didn't get the message.

You can't go celebrating something that makes one person better than others, that's problematic!

My big complaint about the Oscars is that Jurassic World never got a nomination. I mean, that was the year's big cinematic highlight for me. So whatever you feel about the diversity angle, those guys are clearly full of shit.

Doesn't everybody know the point of the Academy Awards is to point and laugh at Leonardo DiCaprio's desperate Oscar-baiting fails over and over?

I'm having trouble figuring out what makes this feminist, besides having a female protagonist and antagonist, neither of whom are conventionally attractive. By that logic the original Metroid would be feminist. Likewise, Sarkeesian hailed Swords and Sworcery as being pro-feminist, despite the protagonist being so pixellated that I had no clue she was female, and silent too. In all of these cases, the gender of the characters is immaterial. If any of them were male, would the game be any different?

Is feminism not about empowerment and agency for women anymore, but instead giving them their won blank canvas to project themselves upon?

Anita's work is pretty sophomore so I really wouldn't use her as a yard stick for gender commentary. She can't even think outside the artificial construct of 'tropes' so you're not going to get anything with any real contextual analysis from her stuff-just a series of abritary boxes ticked because it resembles something she saw somewhere in a book . She doesn't even acknowledge she's a sex-negative femminist so presents an entirely skewed view of gender as 'Femminist' and completly fails to address any meaningful critiques. No wonder her fans and 'critics' are such retards. Anyone whose past 2nd year social sciences or even half a brain can pick her stuff apart in minutes and move on.

This is exactly why it's feminist, a philosophy that should lead to works of fiction where gender has absolutely nothing to do with anything. And yet, where in this case, every major character is female, sex has nothing to do with anything, and both the protagonist and villain are female.

Did anyone have any problem with this game when it came out for this reason?

In fact, weren't the majority of the people developing and then buying and playing this game male? Did anyone have a problem?

That's real feminism, imo.

I don't have a problem at all with people bashing Hollywood for being a bloated eunuch that has an almost pathological fear of making interesting stories about non-Anglos. But what bugs me about the likes of The Mary Sue is their complete denial of their own role in helping cause this outcome by simultaneously making everything about identity politics and responding to any real or imagined slight to their pet causes -- such as casting Christian Bale or Russel Crowe in a Biblical epic -- like they're fucking jihadis.

They've actively made things worse, and have shown no signs of stopping.

The thing is if sue got it's way, you'd effectively have to same stagnant, dull by the number comics, games and films we have now with an overblown sense of tokenism in every form of media. The films would still be boring shit-it'd just a black proganist with no personality traits. Gear of war isnt going to turn into Silent Hill 2 if Felix is a lesbian.

http://www.themarysue.com/warhammer-40k-gender-representation/

I used to play 40k when I was 14 so as anyone who is even remotely aware of the setting knows how totally absurd this for so many different reasons it could write an article double this ones length, not in the least because the reasons the sisters arnt as popular model wise is because they don't sell as well. Also praising the Dark Eldar's gender representation while bitching about their costumes (another sex negative femminist, what a surprise) is pretty hilarious when you read what they're actually like.
Wouldn't they be glad that most of the races are non-binary or simply genderless? The Necrons, Daemons, Tyranids, and Orks have completely different conceptions of gender and how it works. It's also speculated that the Tyranids are female, because they are insectoid and a hivemind.
Also female Chaos Space Marines exist, but they are basically slave mothers that are barely alive in the Eye of Terror.

I'll only say this much about the Mary Sue:

It never ceases to both amaze and amuse me that certain people will cite them as a credible source, and, at the same time, immediately demand that sites that are even middle of the road politically are considered untrustworthy by the same. It's like the ultimate in double-standardry.

If at any point on a Wiki someone citations a Mary Sue article and the citation isn't specifically about the Mary Sue fucking up or the like, you can safely write them off as knowing what they're talking about. Bank on it.
