I remember when ADD was all the rage in the late 00s-early 2010s, which got quickly replaced by ADHD, then autism, and now some combination of them. It was kinda crazy to see the shift happening in real time back then, where suddenly half the people you knew had this new disorder.
ADD no longer exists as a separate category of ADHD IIRC.
But they always think of some new label to brand kids that don't act like compliant goycattle that shut up and act social.
I remember when the talking point during the Woke 1.0 era was that ADHD is "a label old white women give to young black boys". The implication being that it was pathologizing normal childhood behaviour. I wonder when that went out the window.
When they realized ADHD meant they could feed young white boys meth to make them shut up in class, they quickly shut up.
Sadly, here in europe, it seems that sucking tranny cock is seen as standing up to trump. And trannies realize that being too open about it is dangerous, and the NGOs now work quietly.

. And notice the timeframes given
One was during 9th grade, and the other HS. From what I understand 9th grade is 14-15, and HS is 16-18. So if this is real, he was given the car keys when he was <16, and pretty much free to go do whatever. Then 2 years later he was locked into his room because he got into trouble at school. Imagine that whiplash.

Somehow I don't know what is more unbelievable, him not being completely messed up from this kind of parenting, or him getting a house at 21 unassisted.

Having in mind this was written before chatgpt its just proves the meme but not just managers it's most people
AI is trained on reddit after all. And just like reddit it was trained to give the answers people wanted, not the best answer.

They did it to girls, too. Especially in 04-06. It's fucked up the brain of some so bad that focus is impossible without chemical assistance. "Just force it" doesn't work- it's a dependance that was conditioned in there from a formative age.

ADHD is an actual thing as well, on the other hand- it's genuinely a problem where the brain does not respond properly to chemical signal that, in normal people, would occur when doing something or getting stimuli. It's just that in the early 2000s, it was way the hell overdiagnosed and caused widespread medication, in a sense becoming a self-fufilling prophecy and ensuring stimulant dependance for thousands.

Moreover, I've had someone genuinely try to fucking tell me that my argument against grouping ADHD with Autism Spectrum Disorder is because I don't want them grouped in with the low functioning sort. Which... ?

Psychology and developmental disorder studies need a rework from the ground up, but Christ help us because the current generation of people in that field are drooling blue haired retards themselves.

The amount of hoops you have to go through to make an account that can actually post on Reddit is fucking ridiculous. It has to be a certain number of days old, features are time gated and almost every sub has a minimum karma requirement to post. It’s supposed to keep out bots but we all know it’s done fuck all because Reddit is more botted than ever before.
And then all it takes is one comment to offend some freak and you're banned from a multitude of subreddits you've never visited. Don't even bother creating a new account because you'll just flag their ban-evasion systems.

Gee, I just can't put my finger on why Reddit is an echo chamber.

I actually don't remember that "era" of woke, but I feel like I need to be the responsible one here and say methamphetamine and amphetamines are NOT the same. That methyl group changes shit a substantial amount.
I'm by no means a chemist, but I've seen people on the spectrum who decided to attempt to self medicate with meth, rather than use prescribed amphetamines. Think of how outcasted and overstimulated someone on the spectrum is... now add meth paranoia. It was not pretty. Dude thought everyone was trying to kill him and hospital staff are on edge because they're skittish. So they got like 20 people crowding around him between care providers and security and it's just making the situation worse until they gotta be chemically and physically restrained. What a mess.
I know that wasn't your intention to imply they are the same, but I'd be irresponsible to not point that out.
As for the main point you made, I agree more or less. I think medication can be a powerful tool. Some people may genuinely not be able to function without it, but there's also a lot of people who get sucked into the trap of thinking they need medication to function and refuse to find pharmacological methods to succeed at their ADLs and executive functioning.
But instead I see kids on the spectrum overprotected by concerned parents who hear the doctor's initial scary speech of how they will never be like other kids. They shelter them and don't challenge them at all, and they never reach their full potential. They spend their lives working entry level retail jobs when they could've been capable of doing great things. We've all seen a lot of those with ADHD Aspergers autism etc tend to, due to their nature, become highly gifted in specific areas that are of great interest. These high functioning people could get high level jobs that work in what they enjoy and advance science greatly. They could be big names in their fields. Instead they get sheltered, their ability to manage their disease is atrophied, and they spend their lives working at Goodwill.
Psychology and developmental disorder studies need a rework from the ground up, but Christ help us because the current generation of people in that field are drooling blue haired retards themselves.
What I think makes the difference is, first and foremost, the parents. The ones who succeed had parents who wanted more for them. It wasn't easy, for them or the parents, but they came out of childhood able to manage their own shortcomings or even excel because of them. They were highly motivated and high performing... and not just on test numbers. That performance translated to job performance. A desire to challenge themselves is born of their constant challenges to adhere to normalcy. They realize the more they face shortcomings head on, the greater they become. They can become well spoken charismatic people because they refuse to accept their social ineptitude and actually begin to excel at socializing, at least in limited spaces like work. Sure, put them in a situation where a co-worker is coming onto them or something, they'd be lost. But they learn to fake it in everyday situations and become some of the most extroverted people in the work place. These people who learn to push themselves out of their comfort zones become top performers because there is no limit to what they are capable of improving on and they have a mindset that seeks to be better, not just shy away from things they are bad at.
And shy of parents being unable to foster that, a good case manager is a godsend. You can't approach these people with a blanket approach. That's how the whole medication craze of the 2000s came about. You need individualized care and early intervention, and we've kinda known that all along.
If it helps, there are people out there who don't just follow the blue haired nonsense. Unfortunately, those on the spectrum and otherwise neurodivergent are highly susceptible to the... well I don't want to call it propaganda because that implies it's intended, and I don't think it is, but this virtue signalling nonsense. They are people pleasers because they have always been on the backstep, so they often have low self esteem and are hyperfocused on being liked, and thus when someone tells you that you are a bad person for wanting to own a firearm, or for using a specific word like retard or faggot, you, as a self conscious person who wants everyone to like you, will be more impacted by that than most. What protects some is a high sense of morality. The problem with the blue haired crowd is it's all theater. It's all virtue signaling. It's all about looking like you care, not actually caring. And as susceptible as this population can be to not wanting to be a bad guy, they also often have a high sense of morality and doing the right thing. And that can work in their favor. They realize these people are all hypocrites and liars and rebel against it. I think honestly, that sub-population makes up like 90% of this site.
The problem I see is when they then fully embrace this idea of being the bad guy and just become the other extreme. The "Alt right" as it were.

Ultimately, the truth is in moderation and centrism. You can say bad things and be a good guy. You can be a bad guy and say good things. And sometimes, you just gotta pick your battles. But that's an area of shortfalling for this population. They can't read the grays in some ways. But sometimes, being on the outside lets you see those grays a lot easier.
You deal with this nonsense the same way. You can't focus on the population. They're just a bunch of drooling retards. Instead, you have to focus on what you can change. The world will probably continue to get worse, in my opinion. We will continue to enable these mouthbreathers and the population will, in turn, become more saturated with mouthbreathers.
Carve out your slice of happiness in the world. Take your little slice of western land, put up a fence, and hold a shotgun to anyone who dare try to kick your dog. That's my mentality. All are welcome, but I'm leaving this world with more than I came into it, and your fucked up morality and virtue signaling won't stop me. And, in part for being as fortunate as I've been, I'll help those around me who are receptive to it. There ain't many though. Most are too stupid and too caught up in bitching about why the world is so cruel. That's the wrong question. The question should be, how can you succeed in spite of the unfair nature of the world.

And A LOT of these modern adhd mofos ignore that adhd kids genuinely outgrow adhd on like a clinical level in close to half of cases, and im 100% sure that a lot of these new 'adhd' (and maybe autism) cases are just brains fried by technology and fully curable if actually given proper help that they now wont get bc of their misdiagnosis.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that finding. It was a quick blurb but it said in boys that it decreases when they hit their teens and to adulthood but the rest of the time I'm being encouraged to give my kid drugs.
I've been told it's also genetic but I think environments have a huge impact right now. From the screens we put in front of our kids to their constant bombardment when they go out in public it's no wonder they feel overwhelmed. Also less encouragement to go outside and play so their energy has no where to go.

I wonder how to determine a real diagnosis from the catchall ones. Like I said above, if you take away external stimuli, like games and tablets, their attitude and focus (boys and girls) seems to improve immensely. Not to mention removing tablets in the classroom and giving students books has also shown marked improvement in their behavior.

At risk of going more offtopic (sorry!!) it would take a rather insane amount of neurological tests and various studies to determine if just one individual has it- to check if their brain really does respond to the chemical that people with ADHD typically don't respond to as much (I forgot which it is. Maybe Dopamine?)

I do agree that taking away tablets and various forms of technology that can combard kids with information from all sides (which conditions them to the stimuli, possibly forcing their brain to cope in weird ways) can possibly help weed out the ones who really do have this defect.

I think there's some genetic predisposition as well. It's not entirely genetic, but there's no doubt there's some level of tie in with traits that come from parents. Usually you can tell "where it came from" in the traits of a parent. The screen thing doesn't cause it. I think it's more a presentation of it. I think a lot of people today have normalized this idea of doing multiple things at once when relaxing, and I am apart of that. Been pushing myself to game more with a bit of intention.
This is all just personal observation and speculation though.
I wonder how to determine a real diagnosis from the catchall ones.
Diagnosis is... kinda tricky. For obvious reasons. But a lot of it is "Do you have X number of DSM-V listed symptoms to a degree that it hurts your ability to function in daily life?" That's really the core of it. That last part is key. Self diagnosers will say "oh I ruminate" Yeah but do you ruminate so bad you can't function properly? That's the difference, along with an objective third party who doesn't care how many disabilities you have in your twitter bio.

Dopamine and norepi.

Im buttblasted again idk why I go back and browse reddit. Someone on a niche sub had an AI design a circuit board for hobby use, then had it made in china. It works completely perfect and replaces a discontinued product. The plebbitors are hating on it just because it's AI

On some level I get it. It replaces human ingenuity and does a worse job without the user even recognizing it.
It's like what we're talking about with ADHD meds. Rather than challenge yourself, you just use an item that's a shortcut. Like all shortcuts, it can produce an inferior result and is no substitute for hard work.
So, like medication for ADHD, AI is a tool. You can use it well, and you can crutch on it.
I think AI will become something the vast majority of people come to well over rely on and it will ruin most people's ability to learn new skills. These people will become the have nots and the people who can still think for themselves and learn new skills and challenge themselves will excel. The gap between the haves and have-nots will widen and these people will bitch more about how society has failed them when the only person who's failed them is themselves.
But, in true reddit fashion, all you see are mouthbreathers who hear someone else tell them AI is bad, they internalize that "side" of the argument, and defend it without understanding why. So, when someone uses AI in a perfectly reasonable and useful way, they need to voice up because the internet has given every retard a voice and thus every retard thinks what they have to say is important.
I suppose, on that last part, I am no different. Just another self important retard yelling into the void. But at least my thoughts are my own and not some other retard's regurgitated talking points.

and now some combination of them.

In true oppression olympics fashion, they include schizoaffective disorder at the top, but schizophrenia is non-ranking because that's not "quirky" mental disorder. That's diseased mental disorder.

I'm sorry dude but a machine that invents circuit boards for you based on written criteria is fuckin badass
I was agreeing with that. It's a great tool that saves time. The problem is people who think they can do this without any knowledge of electronics or think they can use it to code without any review (which requires coding knowledge).
It's a tool, not a replacement. The problem is most people can't seem to understand nuance. So all AI bad.

The guy that made the circuit had absolutely no knowledge of electronics or circuits. Strictly knew the input voltages, sensors he wanted to use and the desired output effect.

It's nothing short of a modern miracle

Right, it doesn't count if it's not something you can leverage as a way to be fun and interesting. Autism? No, I'm not a nonverbal spastic who sits there and drools all day, I just know every Pokemon and love trains! DID? No it doesn't make it impossible to maintain friendships or leave the house, I just have an imaginary friend named Leander or some shit who takes over just long enough to insert a witty aside into my posts while I'm overreacting to things on r/amitheasshole!

At the very worst you'll get "my disorder LITERALLY FORCES me to sit on the couch and smoke weed and watch Brooklyn Nine Nine all day and mysteriously only seems to flare up when my mom suggests I get a job or take a shower".

Basically a real world Star Trek replicator with a couple extra steps. What's funny is if you presented that idea to redditors before AI took off they'd be all over it.
I will say it's not idiotproof.. I mean, nothing is. But I think this idea of "just put my inputs in and the desired output and let it spit out the result and done" is way overblown. Sure, sometimes it works. But that's where the core of the whole reddit "AI" bad mob is correct.
The problem is, they don't believe that. Just just believe in AI bad because someone said AI bad to them. And their heckin' artists and coders are suffering because of it.
Sorry, that's the job market. You listened to everyone else who said "learn to code" and low and behold the market shifted and you're left holding the bag. Shit happens. It sucks, but anyone could tell from a mile away that computers wasn't a hugely safe bet. 15 years ago when I was job planning everyone was saying go computers, go coding. It's a big reason why I didn't. Because if everyone is going that route, the job market becomes saturated and you're at a disadvantage. Then one change comes and the house of cards comes down. That was the big rightsizing we saw just post covid when suddenly hiring as many people as possible to have good numbers wasn't the meta anymore, so they fired all the tiktok girls who did nothing every day, among other actual useful employees who were just redundant.
This is how you should be approaching job searching when you are in HS. What do you enjoy doing? What's stable? What's a missing point in the market you could fill and love doing? Go do that. Don't just listen to someone else's ideas. But 90% of the population is bad at career planning (and part of it is schools don't address this, but at some point, you gotta take agency over your own future) and they go to college as the "next step" basically play major roulette, and then wonder why they can't find a job. Because you don't get anywhere in life by not paying attention. But school is boring and for losers. No one smart succeeds in school right? That's what Rick and Morty said! Pseudointelectual BS.

I just stick to ai subreddits only. It’s so fucking tiring to hear from reddit faggots who sperge about ANYTHING remotely related to ai. I’m surprised that ai subs even still exist. The second trannies take them over i’m done with reddit.

some women would find certain diagnoses "romantic", in a way.
It's literally this. It's white women wanting to seem special.

ADHD, bisexuality, and that thing where she's a "non-binary she/them" and, wouldn't you know it, she's just married to a man and apparently heterosexual to anyone who isn't invested in her every thought.
