It does suck that anything related to calling out yuritards, hood weebs, and troons obsessed with pushing gender identity into anime gets filled with loliconsRare not leftist reddit server, but r/AnimeTouristscringee basically has elements of the lolicon communityView attachment 9650799
To be honest, that sort of learned helplessness in the situation would be horrifically realistic. That person has literally been browbeaten into compliance over her entire life, and no matter how much she fantasizes about leaving, how much she is thinking about it, how much she is planning, nothing will ever come out of it, as no action will ever be taken. This is depressively common with people in shitty life situations. People can "think about" changing or going to therapy for literal decades,At first, I was somewhat horrified and highly sympathetic. But that started to wane a bit when I realized that OP has posted about her situation on many different subreddits for years. And nothing ever changes. OP is still as helpless as they were when they first asked for advice. Many people have tried to tell her what she could do or how she could leave, she seems to thank them, and then... does nothing. A couple of months later, she makes a different post on a different subreddit where she's seemingly back at square one.
Reddit has now been clamping down hard on forcing users to make accounts especially when you browse it on mobile. I can no longer open pages without being pushed to their google store page that has the download link for the app in it.I tried going to reddit on my phone for some troubleshooting i was doing. Apparently i was forcefully logged out and going to the website would block me with a banner telling me to get the app. No option to log in. The only way to get around it was by googling the reddit log in page. They really want to move people over to the app.
The background default i could see past the app popup, was elon doing his roman salute. I first thought this was the default blank background they used while giving you the popup (like how newspapers have oldass articles in the background while the "please pay up or log in" popup is showing. But no, it was just the top voted post on the front page of reddits main page.
Well, yeah. I've always said the hardest part of your life are the ages 18 to 25, specifically because leaving the nest and becoming an independent adult is hard. It's hard even if you don't have learning disabilities, and it's hard even if your family aren't actively trying to stop you and essentially keep you around as a pet. A lot of people don't manage it, frankly. Maybe I'm the one being too harsh by reserving sympathy. To be honest, that sort of learned helplessness in the situation would be horrifically realistic. Of course, its always easy to see and know what to do as an outsider. You'd easily escape these situations. But the thing is, its always you who would trivially know what to do, with your life experience, social skills, supportive background of friends and family, mental and physical health, general competence, having resources like cash, job certifications etc. They might lack all of these and have a bowl of alphabet soups worth of DSM-V disorders, some of them may be undiagnosed or unknown. Their condition can be easily so bad that it completely prevents them performing the required actions to escape the situation. This pattern keeps happening to a lot of diverse people, drug addicts, alcoholics, incels, even people just stuck in dead end careers or poverty traps. It's just that (based on some of the info she's given) I can think of ways she could get out of this, and it's difficult to watch someone who thinks they're more stuck than they really are. You want to help but you can't.
I personally really like to see this website self destroying. This is great.Reddit has now been clamping down hard on forcing users to make accounts especially when you browse it on mobile. I imagine they're going to become more and more like Twitter/X. You won't able to use the site anymore unless you have an account. There will be third party forks of it that let people change how they view the site but those won't last forever once they start blocking api access or just charging out the ass for it.
The amount of hoops you have to go through to make an account that can actually post on Reddit is fucking ridiculous. It has to be a certain number of days old, features are time gated and almost every sub has a minimum karma requirement to post. It’s supposed to keep out bots but we all know it’s done fuck all because Reddit is more botted than ever before.I personally really like to see this website self destroying. This is great.
The aggresive nature of the measures they are implementing to (mostly fail at) getting new people to create accounts will probably sour whatever good will was left from the casual Internet user looking up something and seeing a one-off reddit post about it.
It will slowly disappear as one if not the first source to look for information on this one device you're troubleshooting. It will become even more of an echochamber, this time with only the most loyal of redditors left, all of them surrounded by their hermetic wall of soy and dildos.
Brilliant. I hope this finally kills the site for good. I wish the same could happen to tiktok, but a lot of planets need to align in order for that to be a possibility.
Fantastic.
Easy as fuck to get around most requirements. Leave the account for a few weeks. Go on some small sub(most don't have karma requirements), look at the top posts and regurgitate what ever the hive-mind says and after a few posts you'll have the karma to do what ever you want with the account. The amount of hoops you have to go through to make an account that can actually post on Reddit is fucking ridiculous. I'm gonna miss the days when you were having a tech issue and the first result that works is a reddit post from 10-15 years ago. That being taken away is a fucking crime.I personally really like to see this website self destroying. This is great.

We all know it is not organic. It does suck that anything related to calling out yuritards, hood weebs, and troons obsessed with pushing gender identity into anime gets filled with lolicons
Im surprised they force the reddit app on mobile users, instead of a "log in or get the app" alternative. Now you throw up a massive wall and people won't be able to lurk for a while before committing. The aggresive nature of the measures they are implementing to (mostly fail at) getting new people to create accounts will probably sour whatever good will was left from the casual Internet user looking up something and seeing a one-off reddit post about it.
Ah yes, some casual that just wants to fix his computer will just make an account, wait for a few weeks, figure out how to karmafarm, and then be a member.Leave the account for a few weeks. reddit sold their content to AI companies. So now the AI recap is doing the same thing as reddit did. Which is fucking with reddit's clickthrough rate and therefore growth. But the alternative is being scraped without being asked so they just made a deal with the devil.I'm gonna miss the days when you were having a tech issue and the first result that works is a reddit post from 10-15 years ago. That being taken away is a fucking crime.
Now it's all [Deleted], and I've seen a few times people deliberately vandalising their own posts to stop AI training or some other protest. It's stupid how hard it is to find a simple answer to something without trusting AI or hoping Reddit has want you want, because SEO of modern engines kicks out random blogs(Shitty AI generated sites kosher) and niche forums that would otherwise have the information you're looking for.I'm gonna miss the days when you were having a tech issue and the first result that works is a reddit post from 10-15 years ago. If Reddit cared that much about quality/growth they would've shot every moderator out-back a decade ago. And if you look at Stack overflow, they'll be fine selling the decades of human data they built up for years to come. Though I have to wonder how much that post-2022 data is really worth with how much of the sites content is made with AI. And Reddit is on the stock market now. What matters today is the only thing on the mind of investors. Who cares if the site is graveyard for power users and corrupt jannies in a decade.reddit sold their content to AI companies. So now the AI recap is doing the same thing as reddit did. Which is fucking with reddit's clickthrough rate and therefore growth. There needs to be a massive American flag waving in the background and the McDonald Arches then it will be a perfect representation of the USA."Wow that obese bitter woman flipping off a black cop is so badass"
