If Reddit cared that much about quality/growth they would've shot every moderator out-back a decade ago
They can't. Only mentally ill homebound people are willing to sweep for free. They have to leave them be, although it is obvious the admin team doesnt care for the mods at all.
Who cares if the site is graveyard for power users and corrupt jannies in a decade.
Investors do, what value does a tiny forum have, reddit is valued for being a large moderated forum that managed to centralize the millions of small fan forums of years past.

I saw a Twitter post saying the reason millennials and zoomers often display extremely exaggerated facial expressions is because they've internalized a steady diet of Disney/Pixar movies and they think that's how it works irl.

Now I can't unsee that shit.
I remember this speak-out-of-the-side-of-your-mouth thing like Pixar characters do being a trend on either TikTok or some other video platform for a short while, it indeed looked extra retarded. Them kids ain't alright, i tell you hwhat.

Some tech stuff. Might be bait.

Some retard spent 100k to make a sovereign, high precision self hosted model service. Not withstanding the difficulties of an east-west and leaf spine configuration on that, the GB10 chip is based off the GB300 and GB200, which have failure rates of approximately ~15% in year one. The spark is hopefully better but who knows?

In other words, he might be out 15k by the end of the year. Assuming he doesn't burn his house down. The current rental price for a datacenter GB300/GB200 (full server x4) is $16.00/hr... Which means he needs 6250 hours, or 260 days to break even at 100% usage, at max speed.

That's a bold move cotton. These are the people who are driving up ram prices.

I hate this less than when people were going apeshit building bitcoin miners.

This is like the guys who bought enterprise level HDDs to host BBS warez sites in the 80s, but way less cool.

Honestly the depreciation will be very fast. If LPDDR6 is good, and or if we HBM in prosumer gear (possible, if the AI industry shits itself) he's spent a lot for not much.
There's also software fixes such as distillation, speculative decoding, expert offloading with cache, hybrid attention and compression (this one if done is a big one).
So he's spent 100k to be outdated in 2 years (if not less).

Now if he's an entrepreneur, or where every second matters, it may be worth it. But for the average joe, not likely.
Even then, if you come out with a new form of LLM or model processing, it's not getting stolen if you have a provisional patent.

The vibe I get from that post is the same as the guys who make "homelabs" or whatever its called when they have full server racks in their house. Seems like he's deeply involved and passionate about AI, and dicking around with this stuff at home could pay off in droves if you're an AI dev or work in datacenters.

The fact he can just throw away that kind of money leads me to think he's got a lucrative dev position. Computer nerds are awful with money.

The good news: 4chan revived for a little after a long time being zombie state.
The bad news: the meme is so generic even redditors are malding.
But redditors malds at everything, so isn't a suprise.

Well this Clavicular devotee isn’t wrong. Reddit consistently gives the worst dating advice to men. “Work on your bio, bro!”. Your bio is your face on Tinder.

Also Redditors love telling men to take dance classes when they ask where you're supposed to meet women these days.

They really wanna re create the old cringe video of the fedora kid dancing to impress his crush from 13 years ago.

Theres nothing better than trying to use reddit on my phone to try to look at the Valheim sub at work and it keeps forcefully opening this shit.

What a fucking lie this is. "the most real place on the internet." By real you must mean really filled with bots and astroturfed libtard slop.
