Bruh.

How many years of being raped by grind, nerfs for no other reason than Bungie hates you having fun, and IP dilution do people need before they learn their lesson? This is Bungie going "Oh, by the way, we are about to start fucking with the meta of MoT, which is the best update the game has had in years, and we know it."

They are compulsive about their inability to leave things that are fun alone.
I'm no stranger to making poor gaming decisions, I'll readily admit that. And obviously I'm not dumb enough to blindly accept that Bungo is going to magically pull everything together and make Destiny great again. The burden of proof is on them.

Can a guy not just have a little hope, though? Going from "this series is dead forever" to "okay it's not" is the first bit of good news we've had about it since...fuck, probably Renegades launch? Regardless of the many, many fuckups, it's still one of my favorite games to play. If they're willing to address one of the most egregious of those fuckups, then that's something.

I get the joys of a good gravedance (I've been doing it in the Marathon thread for months), and if this all turns out going tits up, then feel free to call me a retard idiot nigger some more. For the time being, I'm maintaining my exceedingly cautious optimism.

There's nothing wrong with hope, but this is the equivalent of being raped by a nigger, and then looking at your shotgun-nostril half-breed baby while the 'thing' is sitting in it's car seat and going "You're the best thing that ever happened to me" with stars in your eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I love destiny too. It's why I'm in the thread. But lets be honest here; The only reason Bungie is doing is so it can come and disappoint us on last time. Project sunrise was poised to unvault all this content, and it would have behaved like D2, with the official D2 being D3. Instead, they didn't even need to send their fucking lawyers at the fan projects and take the heat of C&Ding this stuff. The passionate people who likely would have done a better job are going "Sorry guys, no real reason to bother. Corpo-slop is coming."

Have you taken a look at sunrise?

You can walk through walls and fly in that bitch. It was going to be a single player experience with the ability to p2p multiplayer. The user was going to get to define what they wanted with mods, jsons that could be edited with GUI's, and the ability to look at a raid and go "Nah bro, lets shoot you with a machinegun that fires ghjallarhorn rockets at 720 RPS". Instead, all those projects are now DOA, and if bungie backs out, those teams probably aren't coming back. The iron is hot now, and Bungie's fucked that all up so they can give you what is sure to be a sub-par experience.

Fuck me in the ass if you must, but do not expect me to call it anything other than gay.

Bungie is a faggot. This is gay.

I have no hope and no cope. They don't have the creative juice or remaining talent to pull off anything interesting. This won't be a No Man's Sky.
If they're going to do it, it needs to be Destiny 3.

WE ARE BACK
While it's vindicating as ever to hear Bungie admit to their mistakes that everyone told them about in advance, this doesn't seem like the way forward. Wasting time and energy to restore vaulted content to D2 isn't going to bring the player base back and it's not going to attract new sales in a meaningful way. I've stood by "destiny 3 or bust" as Bungie's only hope for a future. But maybe this is something they need to do to get the current staff up to snuff with the dev tools and to build a viable production pipeline for future entries. Either way, good luck to them or fuckem' or whatever.

To be fair, it is a lot easier to bring back old content than to make something new so I'm not too skeptical. But I'm not excited either. They removed it over storage concerns, though, so I'm a little unsure on how they plan on going about that without bloating the file size even more. The game is already prohibitively large as is.

So long as they don't try and shut down sunrise then I'm good.

They've got a long road ahead of them if they want to regain players' trust, but considering we were all basically resigned to the entire franchise ending on a cliffhanger a few months ago, we're already in a much better state than we were. Now it's up to Bungie to actually deliver for once. Against my better judgment, I'm hoping they do.
I just want to be able to play the whole campaign start to finish, rather than dealing with missing content and having a bunch of missions hidden behind six different screens and interfaces.
I came back when they dropped the last update and I was pretty lost, the onboarding for new players is really rough.

I never thought I'd see people ecstatic over being able to play Red War and Curse of Osiris again. Beyond grim.
For me it's less the campaigns and more the content they took away. The Leviathan Raids and Raid Lairs, the strikes tied to curse of Osiris etc. I paid for that content, I should be able to play that content even if it's dogshit content.

I very much doubt this has a whole lot to do with Bungie.

Look, just about everyone agrees Bungie is worse at managing it's finances than a crack whore who's doing tricks behind a corner for one last shot of the good ol' George Floyd juice. Even when they were making money hand over fist, they were struggling. Part of it was the fuck-tarded glorious experiments. They have made ridiculous amounts of content only to toss it in the trash, never to be re-used. Part of it was the incubation projects. Part of it was living in fucking Seattle Washington where money that would buy you a car elsewhere couldn't even buy you five minutes of sucky-sucky good time on dysfunction junction. And all of it was the fucking gender specials shitting up their projects, acting as living rakes for the corporation to step on.

Bungie has failed, and that means the value of sony's purchase comes in the form of a proven IP, which is to investors what oil is to the sand niggers, vodka to the snow niggers, and nose powder to the crime niggers. Problem with that is that the fans kinda loathe corporations shitting in their morning oatmeal, and most have said goodbye.

There is no point in exploiting an IP that's this toxic, particularly when the data show just how hard things have fallen off, and more importantly, where and why. (Hint; Final Shape, end of light and darkness saga.)

The trust boundary has been breached here. Some buck-broken people come back to be abused, but most people are still grudging because they feel they've been stolen from. If Sony ever wants to see a single bloody cent from those people, they need to clean up Bungie's nuclear waste.

What kind of game is it anyway? I know it's a shooter, is it something akin to like, Borderlands or something?
Yeah, it sort of like Borderlands with soft MMO features. There are few campaigns to play which are just set of missions; some standalone quests typically for exotic weapons (exotic weapons or armor have unique features, you could wear only 1 exotic gun and 1 exotic armor) which has one mission or so and some grind; different PvP modes which are alright; Gambit which is PvPvE mode, quite interesting but really struggles with balance especially between teams..

But highlight of the Destiny 2 are Dungeons, Raids and some exotic missions. If you going to play I would advise to play at least free dungeons and raids.
  • Dungeons are 3 man activity consisting 3-4 encounters last being the boss. They are typically build around some mechanic which you use during encounters, could be done solo which gives you rare emblem which gives you mild bragging points.
  • Raids are 6 man activity, having 4-5 encounters requiring some teamworks and communication. There are more cinematic than average MMO raids although early raids are not as convoluted. Some raids could be done with very few people although it requires high skill and sometimes using borderline broken mechanics. I believe at least one raid could be done solo if not patched.
  • Exotic missions are like Dungeons, but shorter and less challenging, but some of them just well made.

Marathon flopped so hard they're bringing back fucking red war SIX YEARS LATER? Holy shit, I'm surprised sony execs haven't started commiting ritualistic suicide over this, because there's no other explenation other than them trying to salvage the burning pile of money that is bungie any way they can.

There was no client side anti cheat until beyond light. It should just work under proton
which is beyond gay because battleye also works with linux, i don't get it.
SONY PLEASE DONT KILL US WE'LL MAKE DESTINY AGAIN WE'LL BRING BACK ALL THE CONTENT THE PLAYERS LIKED PLEASE WE SWEAR!!!!!
i doubt it was like that.
it's more of a YOU FUCKING IMBECILES MADE ME WASTE 2 FUCKING BILLIONS ON SOME GAY ROBOT SHIT, YOU BETTER BRING BACK THE FUCKING GAME YOU KILLED THAT STILL HAS MORE PLAYERS AND WE CAN BANK ON MICROTRANSACTIONS OR ELSE YOU ARE ALL GOING TO FLIP BURGERS FOR THE REST OF YOUR WORTHLESS LIVES.
Its this type of game, and no why in hell they are gonna remove all this shit from Destiny2.
did you miss the fact that companies took their emergency gay cure pill last june? especially sony? i mean everyone called it june instead of pride month, JUNE.
it's ogre for the fags.
I have never played a single minute of Destiny in my life but as an outsider looking in it looks like the remaining audience has a case of Stockholm Syndrome.
borderlands 4 is paid and gayer, people stick with the free one because it's, well, free...

We have been given ample reason not to trust anything Bungie says at this point. This recent interview is just them telling us what we want to hear because there are a lot of contradictions going on. Like how up until today they were incapable of remake the vaulted content but now it's no problem at all.
