I woke up to this news and first thing my very beloved spouse says to me is: hey, you can watch Cayde-6 die all over again!

So it seems the monsters under the bed have ended up in my bed. That's what I get for marrying a Warlock main that uses Blink exclusively.

The best thing about this is the way it's going to take a shit all over everyone's nostalgia-goggles. The fandom has spent what? Gotta be at least half a decade of thinking Gaul's their forgotten waifu. This will improve the New Player experience, but so much of the story was locked in seasons. This still doesn't make it a complete narrative, and I fucking dare them to do that complete narrative. Not only do I want it, but the endless seasonal fetch-quests would be beyond obnoxious play back to back.

it's literally a desperation move my dude.
especially with marathon numbers cratering.
Marathon numbers cratered months ago. What's going on now is someone in the basement striking the foundation with a pickaxe.

There's 500 devs, and 2.5k players.

That is at least one employee for every 5 players. Each player could spend 40$ every month, and it still wouldn't be enough to cover a dev's salary with bennies for a single week. It's Joever brosky.

We have been given ample reason not to trust anything Bungie says at this point. This recent interview is just them telling us what we want to hear because there are a lot of contradictions going on. Like how up until today they were incapable of remake the vaulted content but now it's no problem at all.
It was never a question of capability, it was simply a matter of the suits refusing to do anything that didn't result in obvious tangible financial gain. Giving players back content that they'd previously paid for, or content that had already been made free? That's just spending money for no benefit. Better to just pump out another dozen Eververse sets and rake in the dosh. They were completely ignorant to the value of player trust.

(If you're referring to the lawsuit stuff, just because they didn't have a ready build on hand doesn't mean they didn't still have the files. They probably figured videos of the campaign would suffice rather than go to the trouble of spinning up an old version of the game just to demonstrate it for the court, only for them to get egg on their face when the court wouldn't let them. We don't know the terms of the settlement, but considering that the Sunrise project shows how little effort it would have been, they could've spent less if they'd just paid a couple of engineers to crank that out in a week.)

With that said, the problem was always the difference in the engine between pre- and post-Beyond Light. It's not like you can copy and paste the old content and have everything just work. Like the article says, lighting, scripting, and other things need to be reworked to make all those old activities functional in the modern engine, on top of (I would hope) revamping the old rewards with things like origin traits, tiered loot, and (in the case of year 1 loot) random perk rolls, to say nothing of updating interfaces, re-adding triumphs, and other miscellaneous work. Sunrise works for the old content because of how the scripting functions; post-Beyond Light, the scripting was changed to have more functions handled server-side, so they don't have an easy way to learn how to build those activities.

It would be foolish to blindly trust Bungie with anything at this point, but the fact they've even confirmed that they're going to bring this stuff back is a step in the right direction. We'll just have to see what happens in the months ahead.

Oh man, seeing the Director with every single destination node is gonna be wild.

Look, the regaining player's trust has never been hard; here's a helpful three step plan.

1. Line up the entire C-suite up against the wall, providing blindfolds as needed.

2. Shoot the bastards, livestreaming the entire affair.

3. End the video on a black screen with with the following text displayed in white comic sans. "We're sorry. No. Really. We mean it this time. Look at the bodies, uWu."

Anyways, Sony, if you need help repairing your IP's shitty image, my DM's are open. #FreeToWork

Let me guess, Bungie is going to bring back removed content for Destiny 2 and make you pay for it again.
As funny and retarded as that would be, the announcement already says that the unvaulted content will be free for everyone. Which it should be, given that it was already free before it got vaulted in the first place. Not like Bungo doesn't shoot itself in the foot constantly, but it would be monumentally retarded for them to try and charge for it again and completely fuck up any future attempts to regain trust.

Really centering the players

Year 1 wasn't very good, but it still had a certain video gamey feel to it that ROI had that the new seasons and expansions lacked. Back then, the priority was making a fun sci fi video game, not about ruining a setting for woke points or building up to an incrdibly shitty villain. Plus we still had Cayde.

oh, so a game people don't want to play? like the destiny inspired dating sim? it's the same shit as "fable 4 isn't a sequel".
They want us to fund their fanfic instead of making what a consumer fanbase wants. This is solely art patronship to them and you're a nazi if you don't agree with it. It costs zero dollars to not put shit like that in a press release but they can't help it because they think they know better.

I'm actually shocked they invoked this because that used to be their old philosophy, before white guilt retards like Justin "Train Man" Truman decided it was chud coded for some fucking reason and replaced it with some other gay bullshit:

I could maybe wave it away if it was still middle-aged white guys and not niggers and trannies now. We're sadly not in a period of time you can swallow these lines anymore in good faith. They think they can virtue signal to oldheads now when they've refused to for years? No one is fallling for that except blast-haver redditors. Hopefully this is the final nail in the coffin.

This shit is so fucking lame and gay. I'm so out of the loop with Bungie's general faggotry that I didn't even know they'd changed their motto. With that, I think most of Bungie's problems can be traced back to the studio turning into lefty faggots and trannies from top to bottom. It's not even a good motto. It sounds so awkward and forced. A game for everyone is a game for no-one. Arrowhead has their faults, and going back on that motto was one of their biggest ones the same way doing this shit was one of Bungie's. If you're not making a game you'd actually want to play then what the fuck are you doing?

nigger just bring back vaulted raids with new challenge mods and updated item sets wtf
you need the old campaigns back because new people had zero idea what was going on. If the game actually had all of its stories from start to finish it would be a lot easier on boarding experience for new people

Even with that there will still be some amount of confusion because they stuffed a lot of story into seasonal content. I'm not sure how they're going to handle that. Even as a returning player I was beyond confused as to what was going on in the narrative even with the little seasonal synopsis because so much was happening between expansions. I doubt they'll be putting back in all the seasonal content because there's so much of it, but I hope they do something to make it a little more clear as to what was going on between the expansions after Shadowkeep.

I've been laughing at this trashfire for years at this point, but maybe I'll go check it out if EVERYTHING is restored. I miss my Hawmoon, Mythoclast and Quicksilver Storm. Such cool guns trapped in this trashfire.

Also, I want to dedicate a quick post to Hippy:

Fuck you for your "if you want more Destiny then you should buy Marathon" bullshit. I didn't play a goddamn second of Marathon and they still brought Destiny back. I'm glad you got fired, your TWABs were objectively the worst.
