Never seen it, looks like a very typical MCU movie. Brie Larson's a shithead, but most actors are. RDJ himself told us to vote for Hillary because that's what Tony Stark would do.
Don't forget Chris Evans * Captain America * joining in on harassing the Covington boys.

Made Larson's whinging about "un-diverse" film critics seem quaint.

Apparently the villain in CM2 will be Korvac and despite him never being one of her rogues gallery (he's faced off against the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange and Silver Surfer, among others). They want to have him contrast against her since his recently updated origin now has him be experimented on by the Kree.
Didn't he die in the first GoTG movie? Unless CM2 takes place between the previous CM movie and GoTG.

Larson's comments were dumb, but I never understood why they got SO blown out of proportion. Actress is a woke leftist, was this somehow a shock to people enough to ruin a movie for them?

RDJ told us to vote for Hillary and almost assaulted a reporter.

Crevans wants both sides on the political spectrum to achieve peace/joked about Black Widow calling her a slut with Jeremy Renner and likes to mansplain.

Jeremy Renner has botched abortion face and hes racist (?)

ScarJo channeled her inner Asian woman despite the fact that the character was a fucking cyborg. (At least we get a BW film to make up for her shitty treatment in Endgame)

Hemsworth's Australian. They're notoriously racist. Culturally appropriated and didn't apologize. Also might be slowly turning into 1990s RDJ by drinking excessively

Mark Ruffalo tried it with "I'm so glad we're having this conversation it is time" bs.

To be fair, they're all close with each other, matching tattoos, etc. Also Ruffalo stuck up for ScarJo when she kept getting asked really stupid invasive questions.

They all did shitty stuff and they all are shitty people but we love them anyway. Tho some fans are insanely creepy about them.

Oh I neglected to add. Tom Hiddleston **Night Manager Awards Speech** **Taylor Swift aka La Diabla**

See: Chris Pratt Jesus Crusade

IME, people are a lot more willing to overlook people being bad/stupid/whatever if they're good at their job. Case in point: Gwyneth Paltrow is, by all appearances, stupid enough to no-shit qualify for special ed, but she's a serviceable actress so people don't really mind the bubble-headed celebrity BS. Larson, on the other hand, is probably the single most miscast lead in the history of the MCU, and is being propped up as TEH GRATEST EVAH despite having done nothing to earn it (much like her character, now that I think of it.) Captain Marvel (the character and the movie) is a chore to watch, so the #woke nonsense is the smegma cherry on top of the shit sundae.

That's my read on it anyway.

Her comments were blown out of proportion because she was trying to take credit for female empowerment in a genre where she'd done nothing to advance it, and was ignoring the contributions of other women. She was also a rich white woman playing the privilege card to try and shut up her critics.

Her co-stars have said dumb things, but they certainly weren't making massive claims about their impact on the world, or how their roles were sooooooo important guys. The level of arrogance behind her was amazing.

Isn't that pretty much every Hollywood actress ever though?

And IDK dude, personally I think threatening kids because you don't like who's in the White House is worse then acting like you're a feminist icon because you play dress up for nerds and saying basic bitch woke shit like "we need more black film critics".

What the fuck? No. The reality would be literally the exact opposite of what you said. Buying out a contract, even if Larson had her guys negotiate absolute best terms would be a drop in the bucket compared to what you're saying they know they're about to lose keeping her on board.

Channing Tatum was signed to play Gambit at the height of his popularity, and then they just killed the project altogether. To say they'd have no way out is insane, to say they're so backed into a corner with no way out so they're willingly about to eat millions/billions in losses because of angry fans and have been reduced to playing what amounts to internet espionage with YouTube vloggers is something so stupid I can't believe anyone legitimately believes.

Pretty much more or less my entire point, they're not going to fail and they are untouchable, so why would they give a flying fuck that YouTube doesn't like Larson?
To be perfectly fair Channing Tatum as Gambit sounds like a fucking disaster.

I didn't say one was better. Self importance and finger wagging in promotional material is generally more obvious and disdained than having dumb opinions on social media.

I think what bothers people the most with Brie Larson in comparison to the other actors is that the politics and the lecturing was kept at bay when it came to the actual movies. And also because despite the exceptional things that Chris Evans has said or done in real life, he was still fantastic as Captain America (to give an example).

With Brie Larson and Captain Marvel, her acting sucks and is devoid of anything resembling personality, and her movie spent time lecturing its audience. It's near impossible to separate the actor from the character in this instance.

I've read like, three of the Captain Marvel comics from the "The Mighty Captain Marvel" run. Got them with a ton of other books for 50 cents a piece, but that's besides the point.
Her character seems more nuanced in the comics than what I've seen from the films.
I'm personally liking the Ms. Marvel run so far, and Captain Marvels role is more of a mentor who the student becomes disillusioned with over time, and it's an interesting dynamic to see.
I think it's because Brie Larson is a bitch, playing a character who can be bitchy but tries to not be, and the bitch just shines through to much.

I think I read a few pages of "The Life of Captain Marvel" that essentially spent all those maybe 10 pages:
1. Showing Carol Danvers has extreme anger issues
2. Trying to justify this by having a crappy childhood.

Not sure how she passed the Air Force's psych evaluation. But then I can see why that slipped the writer's mind, if comic writers needed to pass a psych eval they might be able to sustain a run of books for more than a year or two.

From what I remember, the comics I read showed her to have the powers of a god, but still be human. And her struggle with that was the main part. In her head she built herself up to be more than she actually was, and all the other characters could see it but she couldn’t.

Agreed. God forbid they get some suave cajun actor instead of fake-bisexual butterface Channing Tatum

I didn't mind Brie but Honest Trailers did point out something. She was extremely dull and flat in her line delivery a lot of times. I know shes basically fish out of water but still. Also I wasn't aware the films were known for Oscar worthy acting lmao (you'd be surprised given how fans are obsessed with Evans) but I still remember people gave ScarJo shit for the films. Personally her greatest performances were in The Winter Soldier and Endgame. I'm so ready for her espionage thriller film though.

(She gets more hate for GTIS, Soda Stream, and Woody Allen films than other actors like Tom Hiddleston...who has a signed letter from Allen hanging on his wall.....)
Loki fans are insufferable.

Curious question, how much do you all think the net worth and value of the Marvel Studios library (the MCU films) is worth?
