expanded foods and butchering are both great. There's a mod like butchering for lumber which makes gathering wood and cutting trees much more detailed and immersive but I feel like it might make the game way too mechanic heavy for something as simple as gathering wood. I'm ok with a ten stop process to make copper tools but. I don't know if I want to be drying and curing planks and shit or manually chopping firewood on a stump.

It's called Indappledgroves. It's looks really cool but I could only see myself willing to live with this amount of labor for such a basic, necessary and constant resource if it was a multiplayer server and someone was just the lumberjack basically.

Started a new world, after gathering the basics I found a hole in the ground to call home for now. Deeper than I thought, leads into a nice cave system, but right after the first 5ish block descent I immediately stumbled upon a ruin. Well this place might just be permanent...
In other news, a mod that might be good for the hypothetical server, guilds. Looks like it works pretty much like the FTB Guilds/Chunks mod, but since VT already has land claiming this mod just changes it to be group based. Sadly the mod author is probably an open degenerate furfag brony so I can't recommend the mod based solely on that but if you can excuse using a mod made by someone like that, might be good.

New video just dropped and i still hope the hypothetical kiwiserver becomes a reality.
Guy has been around for a while, makes fun videos but I never expected him to do a Vintage Story video, let alone two. Glad he did because the first one was so well received that it broke the website with how many people flocked to it.
That's going on the list. Also the fruits and nuts wildcraft mod comes with kiwi trees. Imagine a grove of kiwi trees with little kiwis running between them.
Imagine some outsider finding their way to the server because someone her invited them, so don't know what to expect but have heard some negative things about the site. They join and just see a bunch of Kiwi fruit vines and Kiwi birds. Would certainly help with our "image" until someone goes "THERE'S A NIGGER (drifter) IN THE FIELDS."

"So what are the rules of the server, i didn't see any signs at spawn?"

"We don't have any because drifters don't read"

Anyways i started a normal world as Clockmocker and found a good surface ruin to gentrify.

It would probably take a lot of time to set up correctly but the biomes mod and a bunch of the regional plants and animal mods could be super cool. I think you would have to individually set every tree and plant to different biomes and regions which would become more and more work the more things you add but if done right it would feel like an actually diverse and natural world.

There's like fucking 2 more off screen.
EDIT: They're spreading.

I wouldn't be surprised if some mods are already compatible with the Biomes mod, if not it shouldn't too hard. Hell I might take a crack at configuring some mods to work with it one day just for fun.

I have played VS in the past but recently I got hooked by it and finally stuck with a world long enough to get to copper tools. As a result I got my friend into the game and we've been enjoying the simple thing in the game, like doors that don't break.
Today I made a chisel. Everything got a glow up.

This game is so comfy! Picking oak as the wood for my house was a huge mistake, it's so much harder to find than pine or maple. Have any of you guys made it past the copper age yet? I've been here for a while and I have yet to find any tin to alloy with all of my copper.

oak is the only good wood, you must grow it

Yes, also nice house! Getting bronze isn't so hard because you have two realistic options between tin and bismuth bronze and you really just have to explore caves and use a prospecting pick. It can be scary but it's worth it, my suggestion to make cheap armor first.
Does it have any benefits other than looking real nice?
Not in building but oak is needed for tannins so you can make leather. Now that you have access to Barrels you can start making leather which gives you a bunch of clothing and armor options, even new inventory space for your character.

Also feel free to experiment with new planks every time you come across a tree you haven't tried, same with stone.
