I found out the prospecting wasn't explained well. It's actually a great and useful system but the handbook entry is trash on it imo.
It's not even really complicated, just as you said: explained poorly.

IMHO, its biggest issue is ultimately that it only represents odds of spawns, not spawns themselves. Many people get confused on this; It can be ass because you'll get a ultra high reading on fucking copper, yet still have none generate.

Other than that, it would be cool.

I've been looking for the game's updated ost to no luck.
I know a lot of the tracks are on Youtube and other places, but there have been new tracks I haven't seen anywhere yet.
Maybe try the path "[...]\Vintagestory\assets\survival\music" and see if the ogg files there do the sneedful

The time apocalypse setting is kinda weird and Its a very odd choice for a voxel based survival game. I do appreciate it when games have completely unnecessary schizo lore involved. I don't understand it yet.

Surprised I'm the first to suggest Nigger, given that he's black.
Africa doesn't have native bears anymore.

It's post-apocalypse and all i got from the lore is that going underground was the most retarded choice Jonas Falx could do.

I have made a farm and now have too much food - what do I do? It's insane how much drops you get from stuff you grow yourself, not complaining.

Love this game but on my current playthrough I'm stuck because I can't find any damn iron ore  Also, I've rediscovered my fear of dark caves. I wasn't scared of drifters at all, but now every time I delve I do so in mortal fear that a shiver is going to scuttle out of nowhere and tickle my taint.

How are you looking for it? And are you looking for the right thing? (Limonite, Hematite, Magnite are iron)

You need to go super deep for iron. I was in your position a week ago, make sure you prospect too.
Also, don't forget to make armour. I didn't bother with it but bronze lamellar armour reduces incoming damage by 80%. You basically need it for caving.

I've got a set of black bronze chain so I'm decently armored, but going deeper in those caves now that there's new monsters is just....ugh. The sounds they make...

Get healing and you should be able to take most monsters, apart from the highest level (the ones above nightmare (gearfoot(bow thorn), slit, bellhead(shivers), double-head(drifter)))

I was able to often find iron not too deep, it can be a pain, but I wouldn't personally mine where the big guys spawn.

Many food products can be sold to traders for gears, or left to rot for compost, or you can go all in on linen because you can never have too much.

Finding iron/titanium/halite has always been the most arduous process of the game, it is a lot of guesswork. Get a mod like ProspectTogether that saves a chunk map of prospecting results the same way it works in the game and look for high chance regions and hope you get lucky. Iron discs are very wide, so by digging straight down (with a safety rope ladder) you have a good shot of hitting an iron disc if one exists in that chunk. The good news is that once you find it once you are unlikely to need it again for a while.

About to those those Drifters who this land really belongs to (screenshot from American Frontiersman).

I do wish armor was slightly less tedious to make, it's probably the only serious complaint I have with the game.

I use Knapster's auto complete after having made a single piece by myself as a sorta "Seraph learned how to make it and does it automatically for the next"

Otherwise it's painful to make the exact same shit over and over again.
