This was posted on RPG Codex, and is supposed to be from the official discord group for this game. The claim that Hardsuit ran out of money strikes me as likely, but I haven't looked into when Paradox bought the 30% ownership of Hardsuit. The timing would either disprove this theory or give it some validation.

They started offering preorders when this thread started. Of course they ran out of money.

I want to see if the rumors of their HR department spending big $$$ on Diversity Workshops and Retreats so the artists don't have any triggering or no no ideas, turn out to be true.

It's happening everywhere else. A fucking nuclear research lab here did it. I just wouldn't be surprised anymore.

The other shoe is going to have to drop eventually, I mean a half million dollars for 3 days. There are dubai resorts that are actually cheaper for a large party. I mean we're talking about an office Park Rental office and a Holiday inn.

Somehow I had a 2019 preorder for this thing. Got the money back 28 minutes after opening the ticket through GOG's human custserv (thanks GOG).

Could enough people cancelling their preorders actually make them go bankrupt?
It could just lead to Paradox buying more of the company but you never know right?

Anyway, seeing a company implode from preorder cancels would be pretty funny, if kinda disappointing.

How can they have a sequel anyhow given that what the protagonist of Bloodlines 1's unlife will be like will be radically different depending on the ending they picked. Leaving aside the endings where you get killed off, either it's being Strauss's number two, being Nines's number two, or just striding off over the horizon doing your own thing.

Thing is, the first game may have been barely functional upon release but its writing and replay value saved it, not to mention the brilliant Unofficial Patch which fixes all the broken stuff and restores a load of cut content such as the library quest. This will be barely functional on release, and also stupid.

They'll do what other RPG games like KOTOR and Mass Effect do; pick a ending and call it canonical.

I love the Giovanni. Incestuous vampire mafia families (since they have several families part of the overall Clan) who get to take the idiots who refused their offers and turn them into lovely zombie assistants. All the old school class of made men mixed with vampire skullduggery.
I still hold out for that hail mary of redemption that will come when that blood gods sourcebook comes out and there's some details about the Hecata.

The most alternative tin foil hat theory I've heard is that Brian Mitsoda, the fired Lead Writer, has had a history of dipping his pen in the company ink and did something similar here that caused bad blood. Apparently back in Obsidian, around the Alpha Protocol days (where he was also fired) he seduced the wife of a coworker, Annie VanderMeer. Similarly, he got pushed out of Black Isle and Obsidian.

Either this dude is an unlikeable asshole to his coworkers, a massive chad (:optimistic:), or just really incompetent. There's literally no game he's been on, that I can find, that released in a decent state. The original Vampire game was so buggy it made Ubisoft look like a saint.

According to Wikipedia, he was the voice in VTMB of Romero the graveyard ghoul. You know, the one who asks you to stop the zombies from overrunning the place while he goes and finds a whore.

This explains quite a lot.

Hes a writer. His job doesn't directly impact the state of games he works on, his only concern is the story.
Guy just has a bad luck or more likely involves himself with people who can't code good. I don't see how that's his fault.

Yo, do we have a White Wolf or World of Darkness thread for general stuff? I want to piss all over Beast: The Primordial and how I'd rather play a Hero than a Beast.
EDIT: Come to think of it, the Doomslayer of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal IS a hero by the classification of BtP.
No compromise, killing the beasts at any price, and growing stronger from every beast slain.

The biggest misfire of Beast was it really does feel like they should have made a game about the Hero.

Well that and everything else.

Yeah. Rather than traipsing through life as an invincible creature that the universe itself seems to bend over for, you could've played as a guy or girl struggling with the need to prove himself a hero while maintaining his humanity. What need for a Hercules/Jacob/Lu Bu exists in the modern age where a punk with an auto-rifle can kill an unaware beast on their own?

Isn't that basically just going into Hunter territory.

Eh, maybe?

I think Hunter: The Vigil is what happens when the books from the early Old World of Darkness like "The Hunters Hunted" "The Inquisition" and "Project Twilight" are upgraded to a full gameline

A game where the Heroes are the main focus would be more like Hunter: The Reckoning from the Old World of Darkness where you're thrown into the fray unexpectedly and aren't even sure how to deal with the Beasts.
