The only people I think that could do WoD justice is a larian style crpg/ESO style MMO that splats Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Hunter, and Changeling as playable races and it would have to use legacy WoD because 5e is retarded & gay.

I honestly think it would take a new small team of dedicated devs. They’d probably also have to make it less ambitious in some respects (like maybe a top down combat system like X-Men Legends and a dialogue system like Fallout 1 & 2).

It needs deep dialogue, stand out NPCs, and choices with real impact, but trying to squeeze in modern graphic standards and scale might be too much.

No company has enough faith in this IP to give it that much money.

First you'd need to find someone unhinged enough to figure out how to balance out the splats to work together, or really, function together at all in a cohesive manner, since they all have wildly different takes on the underlaying truths of the universe.

Garou would just be curbstomping every other "race" in the early levels, even a young werewolf can take a whole vampire party unless most of them have specialized into combat, and if they stumble upon a garou party, they're dead. Mages, hunters and changelings are just gigafucked.

All the fault of Paradox, and before them, Activision.

If Activision had allowed Troika to go back and fix the game once it had been released to critical acclaim (if not sales), and then let them work on a sequel, they could have had a great cRPG IP on their hands.

And if Paradox had reined in the woketards and didn't allow them to murder the last shreds of goodwill and relevance WoD had left, something could have been salvaged.

As it is, the best we can hope for any WoD is for it to never be made, because no Western developer is competent enough to do it justice or to restrain themselves from fagging it up.

If Activision had allowed Troika
Problem was that Troika last I checked was actively going through chapter 11 bankruptcy right before the game released. It wouldn't have helped shit. And again white wolf went out of business like twice, and already was woke as fuck.

Sorry but this is sour ground as an IP. The equivalent of the Sonichu medallion, or the Sanic hat.

Activision could have extended them a helping hand.

Mind you, I'm a massive Troika fanboy, Arcanum and Bloodlines being two of my all-time favorite games, so I am biased, but the Troika tragedy could have been prevented if Activision had been less anal about it.

Yeah, you're right.

Even if the writer hadn't been woke as fuck and retarded, it would have been a struggle to move the IP into the 21st century. Bloodlines being set in the mid-00s was already pushing it, and none of the cultural touchstones it was tapping into would have resonated with zoomers anyway.

So you're telling me it's a fertile ground for doujin games. Unauthorized indie projects done by people who are actually passionate about the work, as opposed to trying to fill in checkboxes.

That's the big problem with WoD. The developers being woke are definitely a factor, but even without them World of Darkness is so unrelentingly mid-90s that any younger developer touching it would be lucky if they turned out something on the level of sanitized BS as Stranger Things, but way more likely just another Mixtape. The cultural and technological developments we got since the 00s would make that setting entirely unworkable.

so that was sort of supposed to be a thing like 15 years ago but it got cancelled and i dont remember why but i dont think the studio supposedly doing that is still around

I remember the WoD MMO and was so hyped for it. From what I can remember, the cancellation of the game just came out of nowhere with CCP just canceling it.

Honestly, I think they would either be outed pedophiles, get jailed for rape, or somehow get violently murdered.

The IP is so cursed at this point, that would describe the only people capable of and willing to put the effort into doing such a thing.

Bloodlines 1 with all of its issues was basically a miracle. The further we get from the 90s, the worse it's going to get.

Making a VtM set in the 90s wouldn't be too much of a stretch, we're now so far removed from the decade that nostalgia for it is starting to creep in, and there's plenty of people that have lived through it that could make it feel authentic.

The main problem is that there's no dev in the whole industry I would trust to do justice to the concept when it comes to writing and worldbuilding. Even the "best" cRPG devs, like Larian or Owlcat, are ideologically captivated and couldn't stop themselves from injecting their retarded gay race communist bullshit into the game.

Then again, this isn't something unique to WoD, every mid to major cRPG developer is tainted to a noticeable degree, and with indies it's always going to be a gamble.

In all honesty, the game was already woke as shit given you had hippie wiccan bullshit before Mage even was realized, gender role shit getting thrown out due to the Tzimisce, commieshit anarchs in LA, and more. Difference was they let you play whatever and didn't try to force your options THAT much.

That was before they had the ugly crash out when they realized that people didn't really fucking play the anarchs. And they also grew to loathe their werewolf players for a mix of bullshit but also occasionally fair reasoning.

To be fair, after all that's happened, the series appears to only be played by sexual deviants who only care that their character is hot, and that they can smash it with the other character. I can't say this wasn't expected, it being a game made by Atlanta retards about vampires and werewolves. Even if you were to give the property to a good developer the fans would hound that good developer until it broke or was enshittified.
