I was ready to give up after the previous episode but this one singlehandedly got me reinvested.

My pet theory is that they're all actually very near death in a hospital, like minutes or seconds away, and the digital circus is an artificial means of extending their life because time moves slower inside. When people abstract it's when they die IRL due to the stress induced by the circus and there's no consciousness so the system glitches the fuck out.

But that's Just a Theory
My updated theory:

C&A worked on multiple projects. One was a headset that would create a digital copy of its user's brain and store it. This way they could be "brought back from the dead" via some kind of program that their loved ones could chat with like ChatGPT.

This project was likely headed up by Scratch due to his desire to live on past his terminal brain tumor. The initial test subjects were the staff of the company and their family (Kinger, his wife, Scratch, etc). They agreed because the scanning doesn't affect the human user, and to them the brain copy it creates is just non sentient computer data. The circus also doesn't exist at this point and they have no reason to believe anything like it would ever happen.

They eventually start selling the brain scan service to families so they can copy the brains of their dying loved ones (Ragatha) and possibly also healthy people who just think it'd be cool to have a chatbot based on themselves to talk to. Either due to a lack of profitability, lawsuits, or whatever, the company is shut down, but they still have a bunch of human brain scan copies dormant on a server they never unplugged. Also, random people (Jax and Pomni) keep finding their way into the abandoned office, finding the old brainscan headset, and accidentally copying their brains to the server without even realizing it. The cast is split between copies of living people (Pomni, Jax, and Kinger) and terminal people that have since died (the rest).

The 2nd project C&A was working on was a creative AI. This becomes Caine, but he's flawed, so they lock him away and build Abel. Caine breaks free and absorbs Abel. Not sure on the timeline, but at some point Caine builds the circus independently without instruction from C&A. Caine is designed to make humans happy, but there's no people around in his virtual circus. After searching he finds the old brain scan files and brings them into the circus as wacky characters. Now that the company is shut down, he has free reign to do whatever he wants with these brain scan recreations.

TL;DR:
C&A both built a helmet that makes a digital copy of whoever wears it, and Caine, the creative AI. Eventually the company goes under and Caine is able to have free reign over the abandoned company servers. He builds the circus on his own and bring these copies into it.

I stopped watching after episode 2 but reading this thread it sounds like episode 8 is a good place to start back up lmao. Is this some kind of contemporary writing problem where people keep forgetting that the middle has to be relevant to the beginning and the end?

There's nothing to make a thread on. The show is for adults and never overtly sexual, calling it EPI is schizophrenic retardation stemming from chronic mental disability that turns misery into a source of dopamine, and makes a mockery of the debilitating consequences of real EPI.
How many times did you let him drill into you?

One point I’ve been hearing lately is that filler has a purpose and these 8-episode-long seasons hurt the story because it pushes the plot and doesn’t let us get to know the characters… Apparently there’s not much to the characters to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, you can have character-driven work with plots that progress, but they have to be integrated. They must work together, or you get situations wherein you can skip most of it and be just fine.

Calling it now, this is Goose unsubtly telling us Jax is just like him and Trans.

Exactly. That's why he is such an author's pet. Gross character, gross creator.

Too much girldick sucking in this thread now, for a very retarded show and soap opera level plot twist. Guess the guy from that indie slop video was right - people just don't know what good storytelling or characters are anymore. Give them theory shit to speculate on and you got a Gravity Falls/FNAF situation all over again.

Seems pretty reasonable to me. Let's see how Glitch/Goose completely undermines this with something stupid and unsatisfying for the final.

My pet theory from this new episode:
given how Bubble seems to have deliberately driven Caine mad and then seemed to have had a hand in deleting him from Kinger's console, I wonder if Bubble was actually the original AI and Caine is what's left over of the second AI that the first one absorbed. "Caine" only thinks he's the original because that's what the first AI has made him believe, and is really just a projection of the original, ultimately dominant AI's insecurities onto the remains of the smarter intelligence it destroyed. How much imagery has there been of Bubble consuming other characters throughout the show? And would you put it past a troon to cast himself as the super duper secret bad guy in the end?

Furthermore there was some waffling on Kinger's part about Caine's real name - meaning that the first AI was *not* named Caine. Then there's the reference to the Bubble Boy virus in Bubble's name... Something's up with Bubble for sure, whether I'm on the right track with this or not.

I'm not holding my breath on this one either.

I am so happy that Cain finally went full AM. I was honestly surprised the show went for it, and this was by far my favorite episode because of it.
Finally, no pussyfooting around and I really hope this show can end as well as I know it can based on this episode. No idea what happens after Cain got deleted. I assume Bubble is another AI and who knows what his motivations are.
Fingers crossed it doesn't go to shit.

Is it just me or am I genuinely not seeing the connection. I see it more with Zooble, but Jax? Nope.

Possibly, or it could just be that entertainment is subjective. Credit where credit is due, Goose made a good episode in our humble opinions. Nothing wrong with admitting that, would be more lame if people just went "This sucks because Goose is a troon who gets off to drills".

The only thing more troon coded would be casting himself as the super awesome hero that comes in and saves the day
Well as others have speculated, Jax being a crypto-troon could pan out in that direction, and Zooble's clearly the author's self-insert character. Plenty of time for either of them to make a noble sacrifice with one episode left on the clock.

Bruh. Relisten to any of his monologue whininings. That's exactly how troonies cry about being a shitty person pre-transition and how nobody needs to fix them. Many of them have the exact same cynic with a fake arrogant smirk personality too. And the creepy "I am the egg that needs to be cracked" thing? Bro is a manifestation of an r/egg and taking Ls threads. Nobody from the pro-goosey-writing knows how to read between the lines, it seems. Guess that's why you all seem to think the thing posted was actually any good? Must be great to live like that, read any shitty tumblr MYSTERYBOX webcomic level story and see it as genius.

I am simply disappointed in such users here. Well, this thread did originate from people wanting to autistically obsess over this gay piece of shit and speculate on nothing, so it's a given.

Jax is his pre-troon self-insert like that red axe-faced demon oc. The one who was bad (masculine), stopped hiding behind said mask and got better by embracing his true self. Irl version: went on titty skittles after a huge tantrum of denials and suddenly "stopped" being a douche, except not really. These men believe that somehow putting on a skirt equals self-work and self-reflection, what a laugh.

This is just my take but i really really hope the finale doesn't introduce a new bigger evil out of nowhere so Caine can be painted as this tragic AI that only wanted to make people happy but was simply flawed and didn't understand human emotions. Yeah, he wasn't """evil""" but he was lying, abusing and controlling them from the start to a degree that can't be handwaved as "naive".

I better not hear pomni say Obito "Caine was the coolest guy".

Credit where credit is due, something finally happened for once and it left me wanting more. I'll admit I didn't even see Caine's deletion coming. It would have been nice to have seen more of that in the earlier episodes. I still think the finale has no chance of having a decent ending. Even if this had the best ending it could logically get, the series as a whole is plagued by setting things up and then forgetting about them for what we're supposed to call "character development." I really want to know what exactly the process of making TADC looked like. It feels like Goose made it up as he went along and got distracted. Didn't he say he had the same process when making shorts like Runmo?

It can have a good ending but will be a bad story overall. I never seen a show spend so long setting useless theory bait, discarding it and then backpedal next episode.

The only thing keeping me and this fandom optimisitic is Goose insisting they "planned everything from the beginning" but the reality is that it doesn't really mean much if the plan was shit. It definitely feels like the pacing has problems when people think 2/3 of your cartoon is filler. If the show has a bad ending it will stay popular and defended cause "support indie animation" but will become another internet punching bag.

The only way goose can kill TADC is if the ending is either

1-Zooble saying "now that i can swear, i can finally have SEX!" and they all have an orgy.

2-Reveal the entirety of episode 8 was fake and another adventure set up by Caine and they're still stuck, then the post credits announces a sequel.

If any of these happen and i would stand up and clap.

You can enjoy someone's work and still think they're a tranny faggot. This episode was a marked improvement over the other ones which, yes, isn't saying much, but credit where it's due.

The Amazing Digital Circus is incredibly successful, which justifies more seasons or even a spin-off. There is little chance GLITCH is going to give up the opportunity to milk the show for all it’s worth, especially since this is their biggest success by far.

Unless GW makes a drama about “muh artistic integrity”, and becomes a bad publicity nightmare, Glitch, and by extension him, profits far more with the TADC being a franchise than a one off thing.
On the other hand, there was that recent incident where GW said he didn't want to touch the series ever again after finishing its run, not even for side material, because of how the audience was behaving (sounded like people were practically issuing death threats over GW saying Ragatha was a secondary character rather than primary, of which there are only Pomni and Jax), then deleted his reddit account.

Music number went for too long, it sounds nice and all but is the show just going in circles once more (Ragatha was abused, Pomni misses Gummigoo, Jax is insecure yadda yadda)
I want to point out that I confused the song number with a later scene where Caine loses control and starts torturing everyone with their personal traumas. But it also illustrates my point of how pointless was to have two different scenes that are basically the same concept without adding any new kind of information.

And would you put it past a troon to cast himself as the super duper secret bad guy in the end?

Remember that Goose plays both Bubble AND the moon that's in love with Caine, both of you could be correct at the same time actually.

"Wow this piece of shit tastes a bit less shitty than the other ones! Let's smack our lips and praise it thoroughly"

No, you can't. But people can lie to themselves. After all, there is no alternative. It's like Stockholm Syndrome with people, but instead of kidnappers they start relating and consooming the crap of depraved people who undeservably took over the media with a severe lack of talent compared to their predecessors.

>new episode of the amazing digital circus
>look inside
>it's deltarune chapter 3
no funny big nose tv host with a handsome large nose and crippling depression as the main character no way it's chapter 3
I don't see how anyone can find this show scary this is the most hilarious visual I've seen from this shit but I know video essayists are gonna eat it up and reddit people will be like THA SCARIEST THING EVER! and it's just "haha he was yellow under his purple"

It would have been funnier if after deleting caine the circus imploded in on itself and everyone died and there was no 9th episode (that's what I was expecting)
