I took a peak into this site out of curiosity, since this is one of a few forums that have an alternate history component, and that's my bread and butter. What I found was not pretty.

I know this thread hasn't been bumped in a year, but suffice to say, if anyone had any illusions about where the site was going, I'm sure they can be put to rest.

Around the George Floyd point the place went all in.

To the degree that people would literally lie about what videos shown (fascist pigs beat up innocent protestor!) others would provide a time stamped summary (person assaulting police, police pinning them down, person screaming "you're hurting me!", onlookers screaming "he didn't do anything") and the mob would refuse to admit it and threads would get locked. The Rittenhouse stuff was a particular shit show.

I like to summarise it as SV refused to admit the truth about Smollet. SB did but if the same thing happened now they wouldn't.

BPD, troons, communism and calling anyone to the right of Zohran Mamdani "fascist"? I can hardly tell the difference between SV and reddit anymore. As much as I hate reddit for killing off most smaller forums, a lot of forums have become echo chambers on the same level as reddit, and sometimes even worse.

I think SV was shit from the start, considering it was formed from the troons, potential pedos and other scum that weren't welcome in SV.

Can't find it right now, but I posted a link about a quest from SV that arose shortly after Kirk's murder that used said murder to shamelessly promote communism after Trump's failure after a decade in power, kek.

Not at all. The quality had degraded over the years, and it's now just as bad as SV.

For those who don't know, Spacebattles is among the oldest websites on the upper-case I Internet. It is a fanfiction forum with a dedication to power-scaling armies found in sci-fi novels, films, space operas, anime, etc; Given the age of the site and the nature of the topics discussed, you might expect there's a fair bit of lowcow sludge in this crevice.

While this thread primarily discusses Spacebattles, I am also including its offshoots due to (in my opinion), there not being enough from just Spacebattles to justify a thread.
