Wish I'd seen this sooner. I was a decently active SB poster for most of the aughts, mostly for the shits and giggles because autists are funny. It was vaguely more politically balanced back then, but still leaned Dem. Of note, there were more than a few trannies back then, I'm pretty sure one of them, Rocketgirl, and a Britbong poster met, the bong fucked the tranny and then slowly disappeared from the forum. Thanatos wasn't the first tranny, just the most obnoxious. Rocketgirl, CountessMarina/CommanderThelea but I don't know if that was common knowledge, Iceberg3K but Mark was always a useless piece of shit from Minnesota, proto-Antifa leftist from an upper middle class family. Got married and decided he was Katie now.

There's some deep lore about the fighting with A.S.V.S. and later StarDestroyer.net, a competing forum run by a Chinese-Canadian with dreams of being Stalin. Good times.

I was there for that thread, one of the forum member, [BL]Phalanx maybe, was tearfully drunk posting, begging the guy to get his dick fixed. I gave him shit about it in an AIM chat some of us had later. Fun fact about the mod staff back then, a poster who contributed nothing but disruption to the forum, Xort (Pronounced exhort, not zort, or he'd cry about it) hosted an ftp server with hentai for the admins and so could get away with being useless.

If it's pre-2010ish, AMA, I'll try to remember the various levels of faggotry and autism.

I thought the guy who owned StarDestroyer.net was a Korean-Canadian and was super pro-capitalism? He hated TNG for its promotion of socialism.

Nah, Mike Wong's Chinese-Canadian and by Stalin I meant more in the sense that he'd purge anyone who disagreed with him. The admins had to stage a mutiny, tell him to stop getting involved because he was getting into debates with people and banning them for disagreeing with him. His wife came from a super religious family, her parents did not like him and he blamed that on racism, instead of the Nice White Religious people just not liking him because he was a massive anti-theistic asshole.

He used to brag about fucking his wife in the ass and how he only needed five minutes to satisfy her in bed. He's an interesting guy.

No, I never got banned, I just stopped posting back in 2007 I think. Real life shit and all that. I don't even know if they archive stuff that old, but my username was of religious significance to multiple religions. I kept in touch with some of posters for a few years afterwards. BigSteve, CountessMarina, JediPhong, Cavalier, and MKSheppard mostly, not quite the oldest of old fags, but pretty close.

Some of the Mods liked me, so I only ever got warnings. I did get a slap on the wrist for once bitching at our resident Singaporean poster, PainRack I think, when he ran away from a discussion thread like the little bitch that he always was. Then there was SpikeEnigma, who was such an annoying Proto-Redditor that he managed to get banned from both SB.Com and SD.Net, even with his massive Internet Atheist bent.

What is it about SpaceBattles users and their mind-boggling illiteracy? They don't even sound like ESL speakers; they just seem too lazy to string a few sentences together in a legible fashion.

You'll come across several posts on a given thread, attempt to scan the text, and think, 'What the fuck did I just read?' I don't know if it's brain rot or a side-effect of SB being such an anal echo chamber, but is it really too much effort to proofread?

What I want to know is why don't any of them seem to know how to spell "breathe" or "hangar" or "than" correctly.

It used to be better back in the day, but there were always retards. I can't imagine the forum's actually improved over time at all, especially given that the fanbases it's pulling from have similarly gotten worse over the years. That and a lot of the smarter people were either vaguely right leaning or left-libertarian live and let live types who are probably no longer welcome. Gone are the days where you could have Thanatos/Athene the Tranny actually get the attention of published authors and then get into autistic slap fights with said author. Tom Kratman, for those who don't know.
 
Not certain if they are still there and not going to make an account to check but if memory serves Jussie Smollett was a good example of the difference between the two sites. While both went insane and swallowed the story as it began to crumble Space Battles at least allowed it to while SV remained believers till thread closure.

Of course by the time the Rittenhouse stuff kicked in SB was fully on the BLM bandwagon so evidence and rational discussion around the video footage was banned.
 
Okay so back in the good old days 4chan had a board called /tg/. /tg/ was a board primarily for board games and the likes. But for some godforsaken reason 'interactive quests' or 'quest threads' became a big thing there circa 2012. Stuff like Strike Witches Quest and Magical Girl Noir Quest. By 2016 jannies were fed up with this shit on their fucking Monopoly game board and they banned quests. So what did the readership do? Well, I know some went to THP for their Touhou needs but most of them went to SV/SB... and that's all I know of the subject.

You gotta go to those sites, I don't see any alternative besides touhou-project.com (but that's ONLY for 2hu) and honestly fanfics these days suck dick so you're not missing out.

I'll be honest, QQ is probably best now. You have to sort through a lot of porn nonsense, but most authors who do anything with some depth to it usually post on all the sites; also since they basically allow anything you do find some gems you wont find anywhere else. Though if you're bored and autistic sometimes one of the individual sites (qq, sb, sv, ffnet, sietch, ao3) will have a story unique to that site
 
I browse the political board on Spacebattles, Whitehall, I can say that they are more hyperbolic and project a more doomer mindset than the political addicts on our Articles & Happenings board.

Every time there is some right-wing victory in the news, that board will have people panicking that the end is near. Fascists are going to take over and execute every non cis-white, heterosexual Christian in America. A few posters say what they really want and advocate for political violence, which leads to their swift banning from the thread.

Really, they've improved. Despite having a rule against it they allowed a lot of posts about that if the right people were doing it.
