One thing I will say for Sony: Their console names are nice and simple, like PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3... Unlike Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft, who come up with faggy names like Dreamcast, Wii and xBox One. At least Sony's names make sense. Also, Sony consoles have fuck-tons of J-RPGs on them, which I dig.

You didn't quote the whole thing. They may have forgotten New World, but I sure didn't.
Even outside of the whole "PC doesn't get exclusives if you discount all these games", the entire sentence was just dumb. There are plenty of PC exclusives that aren't always online. I don't get how that's even an argument.

You're not getting shit like in the heydays of Bethesda and Blizzard, like big companies who specifically were targeting PCs. Even smaller ones like Piranha Bytes is releasing their games on consoles now.

The Strategy Genre is still mostly fucked. too.

Neither is Sony or Xbox. The very nature of a PC means that the amount of exclusives it has blows consoles out of the water. Your entire argument of PlayStation "converting" people who play on PC is so unbelievably stupid, because it implies that this shit is a zero sum game, as if someone on PC couldn't also own a PlayStation, Xbox or Switch for certain games, as they have for years and years. Only console fanboys have that mentality.

Honestly I just think of it as a way that consoles allow me to still buy physical editions of PC games since Valve took over and made disc drives go extinct.

Yes and the stuff has been selling out. Which means the console is doing well in a market that was entrenched with PC.
But the Chinese market is not PC its Phone games/mobile Devices. PC is not really entrenched when its a minority in the market.

The 4x genre is still majority PC, also Grand Strategy. Hell you Dyson Sphere Program sold 1.7 million copies in just 9 months and its just an Early access game made by a small team. And then there is Bannerlord 2 and Satisfactory. There is a lot more exclusives on PC vs Console, so yes it was a stupid take.

Early Access stuff I usually avoid because it's unfinished. Fucking Ark was in early access for years and they just shitted up the game the more time went on.

Like if it finally leaves Early Access and gets put out, then I'll play it, but they're charging real game prices for early access stuff, there's zero guarantee the game will stay in an acceptable shape they suffer from the same pratfalls as MMos do, where you the player have little to no control over a program that you bought.

Link. Saying Sony console penetrates PC China market doesn't mean much, I can do vaguely "sold out" or "fast selling" too.

Every gaming or at least big companies understand and want that big potential Chinese bux, from success of original Switch to get OLED model to China.

Sony has been actively backing games in China though and then getting them distributed globally for years at this point.

And what does that have to do with Nintento Switch being the fastest selling console in China?
Beside the whole article is trying to say that Sony notices some potential in some indie Chinese devs?
Do these even indie games actually make a big difference for China console market. Or let me ask you this, do you even buy and play these games? Another question, how many of these games are well known world wide?

Lets have a look at the China hero project, their youtube page
Screenshot 2022-03-31 at 18-26-01 The China Hero Project What it is and why gamers NEED to kno...png

Available on PC: Project Boundary (Space CoD), FIST, Anno and RAN Lost Islands (Chivalry/Mordhau ish game).
Available on Switch: Hardcore Mecha (2D action game)

The rest: Kill X - The Walker (Horror VR), Animal Force (Physic VR). Totally your favourite genre.

Lost Souls Aside - AL Limit (action rpg, later is Soulslike), Pervader (no gameplay), In Nightmare (3D Little nightmares), Evotinction (Horror Stealth) and Convallaria (3rd person looter shooter).

So only Lost Souls Aside is stood out with like 1 million views gameplay on IGN, Most of these are so obscure as in you won't get result just by typing game name, you have to include "China Hero" with it to find the game on youtube.
But for real, despite the pretty graphics, visual effects are too much and quite obscure during fighting. Like if you watch any DmC or Bayonetta gameplay, with all flashy moves, they aren't that heavily distort your vision.

Sreenshoting this post for when Sony eventually gives their new console a "faggy" name.

Then let's quote the whole post:

Efficiency, price, cheat protection for most games. Company IPs

The entire reason why sony started to port stuff to PC wasn't to spread out to PC as a catered platform, but to draw people from it so they wind up buying a playstation.
It's because people who buy gaming PCs don't tend to buy consoles, and vice versa. They can sell games to people who wouldn't normally buy them, because they wouldn't buy a PlayStation in the first place. Why spend $600 on a dedicated game system just for a handful of games, that also cannot access your Steam library?

Countries like China, India, and parts of Europe and Asia are the primary audience who go from PC to console. PC doesn't get a whole lot of exclusives at this point especially compared to the past unless they're always online type of games. There's no PC Centric game companies outside of Valve at this point.
Man, that last statement shows you've got a bare ass when it comes to the market outside of the Americas and Japan. Consoles are the exception, not the norm, in the rest of the world. How do you think games are made? Games have always seen releases for personal computers since the beginning, because that's what you make them on. Even NES games were often made using Apple IIs. Tetris was made on a computer I've never heard of before, because it was a Soviet-made machine that never left the USSR (that supported floating point numbers, whereas the NES' 2A0x didn't, lol). People will game on what they have.

But, sure, feel free to convince yourself that Europeans are chomping at the bit to play their enormous grand strategy games with a controller, in front of a 65" TV set, and are chucking their keyboards and mice in the trash en masse. Same for the Chinese and games like this:

You're hitting CWC-thinking-he's-Jesus tiers of delusional. You should back away from this thread for a day and get your mind straightened out.

Oh no I'm not wrong

it's been laid out pretty openly
statsforpc.jpg

They're targeting a vast swath of asia itself and want everyone to be getting a playstation. Their GAAS titles, the last gen ports. It's so the experience can't be complete without the playstation as the centerpiece. That's why they're having 10 GAAS titles by 2026.

Hell Japan has fallen under the influence of China with the Chinese mobile games now taking over their market. Genshin Impact has been heavily backed by Sony itself.

PC really has no current company that's on par with the first party console manufacturers in terms of putting out exclusive software. All the developers have pretty much spread elsewhere.

A lot of console games end up ported to PC anyway, so do exclusives really matter anymore?
Kind of yes, especially when it comes to being tentpole titles. And to this day it still works a means of introducing smaller genres to a wider audience.

Returnal was one that wasn't a normal genre to make a big exclusive. The souls series also got started in the same manner with Demon's Souls.

Having something being an exclusive and it being promoted usually means it doesn't get lost in the miasma of other releases.

You can't really be this dense, that shows nothing except how many PC players are in China. Not one damn thing about how many have converted to PS5, just that PS is targeting them.
What PC player will just outright convert to console? Not HAVE a console, but migrate TO a console.

Well you just had the instance of people's cards not being able to run elden ring, so they went out and bought a console and a game because it was cheaper than buying a new card.

Like my card can run the game fine, but no way in hell am I going all digital and especially after Fromsoft had to pull multiplayer due to an exploit. This already on top of China pulling the plug on it's steam client and then companies banding together to block russian players.

There's too much working against having an all digital platform. Consoles still give you physical media.
