One rule of thumb of mine is to just imagine what View attachment 3172185 would overpay for.

Nearly four times the price for the exact same game that's missing an entire second game? You don't say.
It comes down to how common it is, Mario/Duck Hunt is way more common compared to just Mario.

The best version of the game is Mario/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet though. That came with the NES version that had the red light gun and power pad.

Then you get into weirder shit like the same versions of the game with the famicom board adaptors included. Those were made because they couldn't get enough NES game boards, so they took existing famicom stock, gutted them and had the boards be slotted into an US NES adaptor since the pins were different. That ups the price signifgantly, they were only produced for the Holiday season and are much more rare.

I mean now you're spoiled for choice with actual famicom adaptors so the necessity of those copies are gone, but their rarity is what keeps them up. I have a famicom setup and it ran less than any of those games.

There's this user named mmaballer13_who I posted about over in the TLOU2 thread, but I might as well post his stuff here too. I assume he's a troll of some sort with outlandish he can be. Though considering how much he posts, he's one of those trolls who goes so far it starts being sad rather than funny.

Arguing with a journalist because Forbidden West sold more physicals in three days compared to Elden Ring in two days.

These are just some, there's literally hundreds of these types of posts. He also gets into arguments with people about the bible and how "there is only one true God" and will frequently use bible quotes to insult his opponent. He also posts boxing content and I believe that might be literally the only thing he doesn't argue with people on.

Honestly, I think what concerns me more is how many actual Playstation fans agree with him on his wild posts, providing they aren't also just bots. Flies do like to buzz around shit after all.

PS3 did end up outselling the Xbox 360 worldwide by a hair, and tbh, was my favorite of the numbered consoles

I am sad to see how people dismiss the ps3 as a failed console, it has a much better library than the ps4, the games were more experimental, it has some great hd ports from the ps2 and it can run pretty much every ps1 game if you own the disc

Perhaps the last console from Sony where devs and Sony experimented to create some cool games and features. I have good memories of enjoying my time on the PS3.

It looks very unlikely, especially since this has happened before with the PS3 getting games 3-4 years into the PS4's lifecycle that were ports as well. They are however are not producing more PS4s to be third tier system unlike prior generations, which means enough people have been switching over to the PS5.

You also had the PSVR which works for both the PS4 and PS5 and the PSVR2 is coming out just for the PS5. VR is another avenue of games that also bring more stuff to the overall library, and tend to favor niche games.

The original PSVR had a better library than the vita itself. But it hasn't really reached collector's circles yet like the PS3 did, so not a whole lot of people sing it's praises.
There's more Joan Crawford movies in her lifetime than PS5 games. And that's one to two years after launch. As the kids say, the cope is strong with you.

The PS3 generation of consoles from any company were like that. They made things interesting, the consoles themselves had some character before the inevitable consoomer practices (gaming as a service) started being a thing with the next generation and onwards.
And I agree, the PS3 is the console I've had most fun with.

It comes down to soy124.jpg wanting to display 1649884821312.png on his shelf in all its purity. The rarity thing is true for quite a number of games, but Super Mario Bros. by itself was yet another one of those extremely common carts that not a lot of people actually needed. The Action Set (with Mario + Duck Hunt) and the Power Set (SMB + DH + WCTM) were so common, I didn't even know about the base control deck, Sports (Superspike V'ball + Nintendo World Cup) and Deluxe (Gyromite and Duck Hunt, separate carts) sets until way way way later. SMB/DH was so common, I bought a copy of it at Gamestop for 29 cents at one point.

Yeah you're exactly right, none of those are exactly rare when you look at the sheer size of their production numbers. But the collectors are going to want properly labeled packages and the multicarts would ruin that.

also my battery arrived.

I forgot that I had gotten large bulk cases of toilet paper on sale a few times last year.

Today I found them and I have over 120 rolls of toilet paper.

But someone tried to break into my car to steal my pack of alcohol wipes and a single roll of paper towels and they got blood all over the place and ruined the roll of paper towels. it wasn't the side window they broke either, they tried breaking the back window and when they couldn't reach they broke the front windshield and climbed in. They used a cinderblock for both windows and seems to have missed one time because it broke one of my back lights.

Okay now post your toilet paper hoard

The trouble with the PS3 is all but obliterated the beautiful little ecosystem of Japanese games that had popped up during the PS1/PS2 generation.

All those wonderful, quirky little games and series either vanished completely or became worse on the PS3, very few devs like From Software really managed to survive it with that same spirit intact and later the Yakuza series had a resurgence, but so, so many things fell by the wayside like Shadow Hearts and PS3 never had anything like Rule of Rose, the Ico guy also skipped the PS3, it just absolutely killed the momentum Japanese gaming was on that thankfully turned out better than it could have by now, but it's never been exactly the same.

You can say some of that was an inevitable effect of the rising cost of HD development but that spirit managed to survive a while longer on the Xbox 360, which was the easier console to develop for, but Xbox was never going to be as big in Japan, so Sony dropped the ball.

That's one of the reasons for the "PS3 HAS NO GAMES" meme.

Sony's first party fare... fared better but what is it really that great? I love Uncharted and God of War 3 but outside of that? Jak dried up, Sly only had one game, the Twisted Metal reboot fumbled, SOCOM went to shit, does anyone care about Resistance? Killzone? Infamous? I know Little Big Planet had it's following but I never cared about it (I know that's just my personal opinion)

Anyway you slice it the thing was a downgrade from the PS1 and PS2 on the overall quality of games available on it, yeah there were some high points, but overall it was indeed... a failure.
