Turn based RPG, persona style hangout with your friends as Sonic. Sonic would be more verbose that a typical JRPG character but you can pick things he says and shape him as irresponsible or heroic. Definitely add some fun 3d exploration between battles. And add mechanics that make the fights faster as the game goes on and the player learns the systems. The end state is fluid, complex 3d exploration interrupted by quick and concise turn based extermination of enemy groups.

I really love the Sonic characters. They are slaves to the poorly written games most of the time. The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog shows they can be utilized properly. Social Links and a JRPG style story would give them the ability to shine. I wish SEGA and Sonic Team could get into contact with Atlus somehow... (/sneed)

Thats potto to the core a Cringy Avaricious sonic cuck that tries to sneak and weasel his way into making a franchise worser than it already is lol. That did nothing but built a boot licking community (bumblecast forum) thats idolize him every waking second  and will get extremely defensive if you even criticize the guy or his work. All this will lead to onlookers looking into to him and his fanatics.
Bro, I remember finding my way to one of Flynn's public discord's and for the hell of it, I shared the SatAM intro to see if I can get a reaction out of it...

What I didn't expect was for everyone there to go ballistic like I had suddenly commited a war crime in their discord server. It was both hilarious, and frightening that just the fucking intro would have them looking for blood. Needless to say, I was shortly banned from there, and I remember it to this day. It's still funny.
 
I finally bit the bullet and bought origins because I had a gift card and I played all those fan games last month. It sucks. where the fuck is sonic spinball or 3d blast? hell, actually where the fuck is sonic r or that run around and do nothing mode from the Saturn version? They could have added those. but seriously, where the fuck is spinball?

actually my real complaint is that we have all these playable characters but no customization. shit mania gave me the Insta shield why I can't I turn it on in sonic 1 or 2 or cd? apparently you can use a cheat code to get a 7th special stage to be super sonic in the first one but not in story mode. why not? why not just put it in there? with unlimited lives and replayable special stages, outside of classic mode it's already not the same game. they put the spin dash and drop dash in it. why lock that arbitrarily? there's no crt filter? What a shit load of fuck.

Im somewhere in CD now in the story mode. I was excited for the little bridging cut scenes but they're like 15 seconds? and don't bridge shit. I thought maybe something would happen w robotnik between 1 and CD but no its just an extra 10 seconds of Amy looking at cards. who gives a shit?

The challenges are cool but I'm not even particularly good at the genesis games and I s ranked like 50% of them first try and got an A on the other ones I did. I did like 65% of them before I did anything else.

The unlockables are cool or whatever but Mega Collection came out 20 years ago and had spinball (and 3D blast I guess) and like 6 full issues of Archie to read, plus every cover up to then. They couldn't have given me a few of idw to unlock? the search for the chaos emeralds episodes of AoStH? chao in space? idk the art is cool but they could have added some more shit to get.

The origins game intro "bridging" cutscenes are actually just animations based on the stuff described in the manuals/promotional stuff for the games. Ironically they DID add back in an actual bridging cutscene between sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles where after the death egg launch fails at the end of 3 he flies off towards the falling death egg and then it cuts to it falling into the volcano. IIRC there was a fan mod for sonic 3 that also added it back before origins did. Kind of wish they put the sonic and knuckles intro music in as Robotnik flies off and the death egg crashes because if you time it right it actually syncs up perfectly without need for cutting it off after the crash. really would cement the "it's over but IT'S NOT OVER YET" thing

Comparing Sonic origins to other compilations like Sonic mega/gems collection really makes it clear how lazy and nickel and dimey a lot of the current port collections being put out have become. Those 2 collections also included a few notable non-sonic sega games as unlockable.

yeah I have pretty much only played mission mode and story mode, but to unlock something i had to go into cd and play as amy for a few levels to do something and i went into the options and i was like motherfucker this is the ps3 version without all the options that made it good this is such bullshit. the first 2 are probably those versions too. overall, I don't hate origins, it serves it's purpose fine. a collection for regular people who haven't thought about sonic in 20 years and kids who haven't played the originals who just saw the first two movies and want to check them out, but it's a pretty fucking lazy collection considering it's price tag (i got it for $15 i would not have paid $40 under any circumstances and would have been irate if I did.) and that it's sorta bare bones. yeah we got those game gear games, but mega collection years ago had those plus more shit, actually sonic adventure on fuckin gamecube had those. I haven't played them but I am aware of Sonic 3 AIR and the similar projects for the first 2 and it's beyond retarded they didn't rip those off and give people the super customizable genesis sonic experience with choice of sprites, abilities, and items.

the cutscenes are cute and it makes sense they're just based on little manual backstory but i was hoping for more. idk i didn't want 2 hours of videos or something, i don't know what exactly i expected but i thought they would make the story mode flow more as a long game, and not still just feel like 4 games with new intros. really because they don't the story mode is retarded, they shouldn't have bothered and just added the intros and outros to the individual games and left it as that. idk they should have left the games mostly as is minus widescreen and new characters and I think the story mode should have unified a lot of mechanics, they added spindash to the first, a drop dash and unlimited lives and replayable special stages to the rest, they should have added super sonic to the first one, maybe even insta shield and elemental shields to all of it. i assumed the idea was to make it feel like a super long game, where you gain and lose emeralds, but it doesn't feel like one game at all because it's still disjointed bc of all of that. i've had fun with it i guess, I hadn't played Sonic 1, CD or 2 in a long time, and haven't sat down and got every emerald in them in longer. I just got to 3&K now, but I would have been better off just plugging in my sega or downloading those fan PC projects I mentioned because they added nothing worth a fuck. although Amy is kinda cool I might go through them with her the hammer is fun. I wish they had included Chaotix, I've never actually beaten it. I know back in the day they couldn't emulate it properly for Mega Collection or Gems Collection but it's been 20 years there is no reason it isn't in here as a bonus. Spinball too. I fuckin' love spinball.

I did like mission mode but there was only like 15 per game. i haven't S ranked all of it but realistically if you're good at those games it's like 40 minutes worth of gameplay. that sucks they could have made more than that. overall origins has way more effort than your average nintendo collection but not enough to justify its own existence.

IIRC people that dug through the files found out the first 2 are the mobile ports that added extra stuff in 2 but the extra stuff is gone or something? I don't have origins or the mobile port but I know the mobile port added hidden palace zone back into the game and turned a death pit in mystic cave into the way to get there. Unfortunately that port used the 2 player song for mystic cave zone instead of the actual unused hidden palace zone theme because it was assigned to the level in the finished game's unused scrap file select way of getting to the unfinished/broken hidden palace in one of the versions of sonic 2, and if it's still in origins and I'm remembering the re-removal I heard about wrong then they sure as hell didn't fix it.
Oh, they apperently used the ACTUAL hidden palace song from 2 in the mobile port's time attack mode menu according to the comments on the OST upload. that makes it worse IMO.

EDIT: It's even more stupid apparently it IS used in the mobile port but you need to stage select access the level to unlock and play "proto palace zone" which is just hidden palace zone with the actual song made for it and the OG layout because apparently they changed the stage layout too.

They actually did more for Mania and also superstars, which were already a year for superstars and SEVEN!?!?!? years ago for mania Actually ightve been 5 or 6 years i think they came out AFTER mania but I don't feel like checking. still it's longer than it feels.

Too bad the game didn't live up to the hype never got around to getting it to see how good it is but I also know people that played it said it was good but there were gripes tied to audio (blue balls fang theme) and some stages being kind of boring.

Sonic 3 Complete, yeah!

I do appreciate Origins S3&K for giving some official/confirmed versions of certain things (Eggman falling away from Mecha Sonic's attack if you slap Sonic/Tails onto Knuckles's Sky Sanctuary boss fight, clean Tails run/Knuckles glide sprites if inserted Doomsday...), but I truly like how S3 Complete combined every aspect of both S3 and SK into a singular whole without any leftovers.

'Tism tax: the only issue I ever had with it and original S3&K was that Knuckles should start his story in that little bit of Mushroom Hill like he does in SK, since it's an otherwise utterly wasted, useless bit of zone. Just throw in a wall-smash sound when he runs off screen, then scene-cut to him popping up from the ground of Angel Island Act 1 like at the start of Sonic's story to begin his gameplay.

this is literally why I played sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles separately back in the day. I mean I had the pc port version which had all 3 as separate ones you could select but still yeah it bugs me how knuckle's stage order changes so severely and nonsensically when you lock the 2 together.

I agree. Even as a kid I could understand him starting at Angel Island since it's the beginning of the game, ah, gameplay-wise, but I always pretended he did what I suggested above.

Knuckles's half of the game fascinates me because it seems Sonic Team wanted him to have a bit more than what he eventually got. The Cutting Room Floor has documents that reveal the story they planned for him actually made it in more or less completely intact - shuffle through the island to find out who attacked him and finding out it's Mecha Sonic stealing the Master Emerald. Which means, logically speaking, Flying Battery SHOULDN'T be playable a la Death Egg or Doomsday, yet here we are going through it as him. But then the docs show he was meant to have a unique zone in place of Flying Battery! Aha! So remembering the time constraints S3 development had, that even accounting for a slower and more cautious platforming style Knuckles has versus Sonic's zooming through levels his half is short (Hidden Palace just a small transition and Sky Sanctuary just a boss fight? Natch) it explains why they slapped in Flying Battery for him and why in that zone alone, there's mysteriously no Knuckles path. The docs say nothing on this would-be unique zone for Knuckles besides he'd have one. I wonder what it would be like.

He put out a concept for Sonic games in the 2010s that was in the style of Rayman Origins for some fucking reason. While I like Origins, I think that the whole thing just felt really faggy and pretentious, like how a lot of the "Fire Emblem characters in Smash" complaints on YouTube just sound faggy no matter how much I might agree with them.
