He put out a concept for Sonic games in the 2010s that was in the style of Rayman Origins for some fucking reason. While I like Origins, I think that the whole thing just felt really faggy and pretentious, like how a lot of the "Fire Emblem characters in Smash" complaints on YouTube just sound faggy no matter how much I might agree with them.
I think I now remember exactly who you're talking about! I saw this video a while back about a similar idea for a shitty Sonic "Reboot"
Obviously Javed gets brought up in it.

Why isn't Sega turning Sonic into a stupid Indie puzzle game? They love dumb shit like this.
Probably because they still remember the fan reaction to Sonic Boom and as we all know, once fans start to mildly dislike an idea, Sega completely abandons it.

If a "reimagining for western audiences" caused such a shitstorm, imagine the fallout from a proper full on reboot.

Speaking of sonic and Brazil I just remembered this shit from some Sega branded Brazillian game show that became a meme a few years back.
it sorta reminds me of the Running Of The Jew from Borat

Dude, my Sonic OC looks more like he could fit in than Starline does.

And i'm confident enough in saying that, that i'm willing to show him off to prove a point.
You deserve an autistic rating, but I will give you a like anyways because it's drawn well. And to be fair, I think we all have a bit of the tism for being in this thread.

the story they planned for him actually made it in more or less completely intact - shuffle through the island to find out who attacked him and finding out it's Mecha Sonic stealing the Master Emerald.
I like the story that ended up happening of just one of the random sky sanctuary eggrobos harassing him and basically filling in for eggman till he actually used the grabber claw thing that stole the master emerald to yoink knuckles. Then after "winning" he proceeds to try getting mecha sonic to kill knuckles and ends up being killed himself due to knuckles breaking out of the little grabby claw as mecha sonic spin dashes him. The clear implication is some point between zones the eggrobo zooped off and grabbed the master emerald as Knuckles was trying to find and beat his ass for chucking a bomb at him unprovoked after everything had finally fucking calmed down and that really kind of just works for the general wacky yet grounded tone the games had.

This reminds me how there's a series of funny youtube videos a few years ago where a guy just explains the sonic artstyle via making a bunch of characters into "sonic ocs".

This is what IDW would be if it was good.

It's actually Bullet Station from Heroes, but it and Sky Rail do look similar (minus the lighting). In regards to Generations, SEGA posted these tweets earlier.
Specifically, this bundle will contain SA1 and SA2, both episodes of Sonic 4, Generations, Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic Spinball. Retails at 60 bucks. I know no one will ever buy that bundle at that price but still:

While I wouldn't mind another dark arc akin to the Metal Virus arc, I would perfer it if IDW only used their OCs for that arc so as to maintain suspense. Part of the reason why Metal Virus failed to make me take it seriously despite Flynn oh-so-baddly wanting me to, is that canon characters always survive for both marketing, and fandom reasons. You can't have a grim-dark setting, and give us characters we know are gonna survive. That's just cheating. No, with the cast of the arc exclusively OC's, you don't have to worry about that, since you can play with the "Anyone can die" trope more easily.

They apparently killed the Cyclone (the modded tornado 2from SA2 that's labelled tornado III on the side texture) in that metal virus thing, and because the comics are "canon" Sega now can't bring it back or some bullshit. They probably will once they forget though. I didn't read the comic but from what I saw of it they didn't even utilize it's transformation gimmick. It's a plane that can turn into a walker or a 1 man car there's a lot you can do with that.

Destruction of equipment does not count.

Yes I know but I found it funny how that's the ONLY casualty. Also speaking of equipment destruction there's the obvious thing people I've seen point out a good number of times of "sonic could have just destroyed the thing spreading/controlling the virus thing at any time and probably stopped the zombie plague because it's not an actual virus and is just nanomachines controlled by a central hub or some shit" Similar kind of stupidity as when they turned the cybermen into nanomachine cloud particles in doctor who.

The cyclone already appeared again in the Frontiers DLC, and that was written by the same guy who wrote Metal Virus, so...

Decided to play through Generations 3DS before Shadow Generations releases. The original Generations is my personal favourite game in the franchise, so I can't wait to 100% it all over again in October.

Geneations 3DS was not a bad game, though definatly not amazing. But if you're interested at all, it will only take an afternoon to rush through, especially when you consider that it only has 7 stages as opposed to console's 9 (Unleashed and '06 aren't represented and Seaside Hill is replaced by Ocean Palace from Sonic Rush.) The only stages shared between the two games are Green Hill, the 3 Rival Battles and the Time Eater, which isn't as bad as console but still not great - at least the other characters aren't yapping for its entire duration. There are also no Red Rings in this version, so I never really felt any reason to replay the stages to find alternate routes and earn S-ranks, this game is very much a "hold right to win" title at times.

However, I have no interest in writing an in-depth review about gameplay. I have something much less important to discuss:

What I think is most interesting about this game is the Mission mode. Similar to Generations console, you can unlock museum collectables by clearing missions. However, I would not advise that anyone bothers to try to complete all of these missions unless they're playing on a hacked 3DS or and emulator because of the 100 missions in the game, 9 are locked behind story progression and the remaining 91 must be purchase with 5 3DS Play Coins.

For the unitiated, 3DS Play Coins can only be obtained (without hacking) by stimulating the 3DS pedometer while the system is closed. There is nothing stopping you from closing the system and shaking it a bunch but let's pretend that you wanted to unlock all of the missions completely honestly. 1 Play Coin is generated by 100 real world steps. 455 coins (or 45,500 steps) are required to unlock every mission. This website tells me that 45,500 would equate to aproximately 35.5 km/ 22 miles for the average man (note that this distance would of course be shorter for a child that is playing this children's game but I highly doubt that anyone reading this is still in grade-school.)

However, the 3DS only allows you to generate up to 10 coins a day, so assuming that you walked with your 3DS for 10,000 steps each day, it would take you 46 days to legitimatly 100% this game. But what if you don't care about 100%ing the game by beating every mission? You just want the juicy collectable that's hidden behind each one. Should you choose, there is an option to instead of playing the missions (which this game isn't fun enough to justify doing), you can instead pay 5 more Play Coins to buy the collectable...except there are actually 11 missions that require you to spend 10 Play Coins to unlock their reward, so that's another 555 Play Coins. So, if for whatever reason, you'd gone to the effort of unlocking every mission but had no interest in playing them, it would take another 43.3 km / 27 miles of walking with your 3DS over 56 more days to unlock every collectable.

If you were to play the game this way, starting from right now, it would take you until 27th November to aquire every collectable. If you wanted to play the missions, it would only take you until 3rd October, with time to spare until Sonic X Shadow Generations releases.

Are any of you up to the challenge?

Yea the 3DS play coins was the really BIG issue I had with the game. It just made unlocking missions a HUGE slog.

let's be real though, if their online servers were still active, that would be the only real reason you would ever play Generations 3DS outside of general curiosity. Online battles had an extra bonus of increasing your score on your player card which can also unlock other skins for it with a higher rank player score. on more than one occasion I've met people that had 99999999 as their player score, and yes, it DOES go down if you lose, but you can easily get it back to the max if you're good enough. Hell, I even wound up getting the max amount.

The only thing i hated about online battles is that once in a while you'd face off against someone that ALWAYS picked either green hill act 2, or Special Stage 1/2, which are the super easiest stages to speedrun on, Special Stage 1/2 even moreso because all it is is "whichever one presses the boost button the fastest is the winner"

The Tornado is the most important plane that we've ever cared about. What's Sonic supposed to do without his plane, run?
It got shot down and repaired inbetween stages in sonic 2. Sonic would be paste on the ground if not for the plane (unless you get all 7 emeralds then he flies alongside it) . Thank god he's friends with some child prodigy ass short round motherfucker minus the chinese accent.
