While Freddie Mercury was very outgoing in public, his girlfriend (at the time) found all the attention overwhelming, and him sleeping around (with men) broke the camel's back. They had been drifting apart before then, but Freddie had asked her to not leave him. However, despite the break up, they remained close friends, and he claimed that no one would be able to replace her - she was his common-law wife, his muse, and he left her a good deal of his wealth and his house when he died. She was also one of the few who knew about him having AIDs before he announced it publicly.

Tumblr likes to leave out Mary Austin when they talk about his sexuality.

Comments had someone say that children have orientation by the time they are 3, and tons of "I only realised my friendship was a crush years later!" stories that are most def the product of tumblr-brand shipping goggles applied to self.

Friendly reminder that if you're into goth girls (or women at all from what these people seem to think) you're just a rapist who thinks women aren't people.

Coming from a site that also spread the mindset of "white boys who get mad when basic bitches wear the shirts of bands they don't even listen to are dumb and THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT REAL CULTURAL APPROPRIATION IS!", I find this sentiment funny.

A guy is too into a subculture and doesn't like it when a girl is just a poser because she likes the aesthetic? HE IS A GATEKEEPER AND IS WRONG.

A guy likes the aesthetic of a subculture and wants to date somebody in it without getting too into it himself? HE IS A POSER AND A RAPIST AND IS WRONG REEEEEEEEEE!

Guess she's just going to ignore all the girls who are into jocks/fit men but don't play sports or work out themselves, or girls who are into skaters who don't know how to skate, or are into guys in bands but don't know how to play an instrument or understand music.

This actually reminds me of Oscar Wilde and his fans on Tumblr. In his early years he had a few romantic interests in women. Florence Balcombe who he chased for a while and even drew a picture of her

and wrote her letters and was in love with her. They dated for a couple of years. He was interested in her romantically but she broke his heart by marrying Bram Stoker. Then there's his wife who he eventually fell out of love with but never divorced. Barely any of his fans acknowledge Florence or Constance and stories like this

and they ignore Oscar's grandson saying he thinks he was bisexual, and if you even hint that he could have been- they all lose their shit and call you homophobic.

There is honestly nothing on tumblr I find more boring than people arguing about whether historical personages were gay or bisexual. I don't know why anyone cares, and it's the issue you're least likely to change someone's mind on, since it has no real life significance at all.

I disagree, only because I think it's funny how angry they get. It's even funnier when they go on long rants about how they don't want people saying he's bi on their posts. You know what, it's just funny seeing them rant in general about it. They get so so mad.

It's a little funny.

It’s definitely possible to know from a very young age, but sometimes it’s not all that obvious until you hit puberty

Holy shit I had no idea that the author of Dracula stole Oscar Wilde’s girl

The best part was when he demanded his necklace back after she married another man. They stayed friends though so I guess it was all good.

I dunno, I think that stuff is mildly interesting to talk about.

Emphasis on "mildly."

This is my new favorite Tumblr screencap.
