I mean, to be entirely fair, the KH games started as console games to begin with and they're better pirated than bought and/or played through the Epic Store.
Oh, I'm aware how they started, but I'm not going to hesitate to call out Switch-fags. And my complaint isn't about pirating versus buying since as far as I'm concerned Timmy Boy has already paid for my copy if I pirate, but rather I'm curious as to how much or little of that is worth the goddamn 52 gigabytes of space.

1, 2, and Birth by Sleep are mostly worth playing through, and Chain of Memories should at least be tried out.
The other two are just movies.

More like Visual Novels that's more visual than novel. The action scenes are told like a story book.

Listening to the old soundtrack reminds me of some of my old headcanons, and this thread seems like a good place to dump the spergery:

1. Since Roxas is Sora's body, and he didn't rejoin him till the end of 2's prolonged, that means for the end of 1 and the entirety of Chain Sora is effectively a human shaped heartless like Ansem SoD. And for most of 2 he's a heartless possessing a nobody. This explains his increased cold-bloodedness in Chain and 2, as well as anti-form (Roxas is rejecting him, and Final form being the symbol of his acceptance means it reduces the chance of rejection.)

2. Axel and Roxas fucking hate seasalt ice cream. This is pretty much confirmed for Axel with the opening to days showing him almost puke when he first tastes it. Roxas you have to read his journal entries where whenever he eats it alone he can't say a single good thing about it. They only eat it because it reminds them of chilling with the homies after work. Xion, being a copy of Kairi who grew up under Ansem the wise, is the only one who actually has a taste for the stuff.

3. My favorite: Axel never got a keyblade. He just form changed his chakrams and has been faking it ever since. Whenever he has to exert himself he instinctively switches back. The only ones who notice are the keyblade masters. Yensid doesn't care because the light needs soldiers. Mickey and Riku notice too, but they know keyblades can be forged over time ala Way to Dawn so are cool with it. Xemnas notices and thinks it's ridiculous. Aqua notices and is livid at this actual fraud.

Anyone got any other theories?

Well then, A. you're a fag for using a console, especially the Switch your wife's boyfriend bought you, and B. which of these is worth bothering with?

Hey I used my hard earned biden bucks to buy that for her. Play in release order and dont play chain until after KH2 at least. It's one of the worst ones gameplay wise.

1 Ive heard that before. If im not mistaken that's fairly accepted as a theory. Personally it makes sense to me. Soras just so dam nice nobody notices.

2 Huh. I like that explanation, but if im not mistaken it's based on a real ice cream they have at disney world that someone on the dev team liked.

3 Again, an interesting idea, but Im not quite buying it. Personally my thinking is Axel always had potential like the other former org keyblade wielders but was only able to pull it out with yen sid's help. He's just using his chakrams as a medium to summon it.

My favorite theory I cant take credit for is the dream theory. Basically the idea that the relm of KH is a dream reality.

That's not to say the people, experiences, or stakes are fake. Everything is "real" but the idea is that some or all of the OG characters are in a coma like existence. FF14 activated the almonds in shadowbringers by depicting your party's souls as being in another world while asleep. Their souls manifested as body's that could bleed, breath and age. Not to mention a disconnection from time, as a few days in a coma felt like 8 years for them in the other world. That whole depiction and the way they eventually got back into their bodies via a soul container made me think of KH 4 and what exactly the power of waking means.

Interesting. I think you're close, but we've already explored the concept of sleeping/dreaming realms in DDD. The end of re:mind explains that quadratum is an "unreality" to the main realms. This leads me to think they'll pull a FF11 and reveal that all the world's we've been to were fictional (in-universe) and quadratum is actually the true real world. The fictional realms will be revealed as a scheme by the MoM to trap and kill the darkness or something. We'll even find out the cast are all based on "real" people, and Yozora is the "true" Sora.

Square REALLY likes that "it was aaaaall fake~" twist fsr. Off the top of my head there's FF Tactics Advanced, FFX, F11, FF12: Revenant Wings, FF14, and I think FF13-2/Lightning Returns.
I'm honestly surprised that there has never been an official crossover event involving Kingdom Hearts and FF14.
I always got the feeling people seem kinda... embarrassed to be associated with KH. Disney barely mentions it even in Japan, which is predictable. But even Square seems hesitant to ever mention it in conjunction with their main series. That world of FF crossover game only had a single character reference to Sora hidden away right?

Going off of your idea @Michael Wade, I'm honestly surprised that there has never been an official crossover event involving Kingdom Hearts and FF14.
It's all about the rights. They got asked that question in an interview once grimaced and were like "dont ask".
There's too many hoops they have to jump through to make it work. Theoretically I think it wouldn't be as hard to sneak in a KH costume. Clouds outfit was in Dissidia, but I dont know. They said they wont do FF7 till after the remake trilogy is finished.

@Local FloRida-man
I dont remember 13 and 14 having "it was all fake" twists. 13-2 flirted with it in an overt KH reference on a beach but the correct option is to snap out of it.

No not at all. It's the third most selling franchise they have behind dragon quest and Final Fantasy. The problem is both disney and Square have veto power on where they want sora and co used. Id say that's for the best, the franchises rarity makes it a lot more viable and interesting.

You'd think it would be easy to just strip out the disney stuff but It was a very near miss thing to just get him in Smash. Likewise, Disney cant just put sora in stuff willy nilly without Square's permission. It's why you tend to see him faintly in posters.

So apperntly, we were suppose to get a kingdom hearts cartoon series but we never got it.
if the timestamp doesn't work, it start at around 29:17.
the creator who also did eight crazy nights (Adam Sandler kino) was going to make it.

Why.... every fucking time???

KH is a series I’ve had a lot of nostalgia for, but it’s also one that’s fallen out of interest with my from time to time due to how fucking convoluted the story has become. I still personally think the first two games are pretty timeless, especially KH2. It’s one of those games where I feel like they could have ended off the series there instead of going off with all the spin off games. But at least a few of those are good. Days is my favorite of those, through DDD is a close second (yeah, I’m one of the .1% who actually likes DDD). COM is also very good too, unique for what it is. While I like the gameplay, the story just has become so convoluted and hard to follow, which is sort of why after KH2 I sort of stopped caring, through I really enjoy how DDD focused on Riku and it was basically his game.

Haven’t touched any of the games in a while, at this point; but might be worth replaying Days or DDD at this point just so I can scratch that nostalgia itch I get for the series every now and then.

I managed to get a GBA version of Chain of Memories so I'm going to try that out. I think some one said that was the one to play. I've tried the GBA version once a long time ago on an emulator but didn't get too far. I'm older and less retarded in someways and more in others so hopefully this time I'll get some where.

The fully voiced episode is here. https://archive.org/details/kingdom-hearts-pilot-animatic

I was surprised how many of the original voices they had. Sora is new though.

It would have been good, no question. Might have been best in the long run, with Disney being the screw ups they are now, but it still sucks.

I have now finished KH3 and I am.... confused over the ending.
I have no idea who the people in the furry hats were.
Did Sora go to try to find Kirea at the end? They are both at Destiny Island after all in the ending?
WTF, both Roxas and Xion came back? how the fuck does that work?
Do I need to play a japanse mobile game to fucking understand what is going on?
Or do I have to play a damn DLC?

Anyway, lets get to the game.
The combat is damn fun. I really enjoyed the fast pace action of it. You flow over the battlefield at a neckbreak speed.
It build on from KH2, BoS and DDD and make it so much fun.
At times however, there was so much shit going on, that I got confused.
The game look also amazing. I was in awe over how good the Carrabien looked. The water looked so damn good.
Sora is still best boy.
The story however can be really really confusing at times, if you are not paying attention.
I like the game, but the ending made me so damn confused.

  • It's implied that Sora is in another dimension. Apparently all of his world/heart traveling has fucked up the dimensions to where he never returned to the one he was supposed to be. This ties in with your DLC question, which only explains what happened to the team and Organization 13 before the big huge "fight" at the end. You need to play Kairi's Musical Quest on the Switch to learn what actually happened, and even then, they still leave you at a cliffhanger because everything is implied to connect to the upcoming KH4 game.
  • Roxas and Xion's hearts were unlocked by Sora and their "spirit" inhabited replica bodies, and if you don't know what those are, it's basically one of the major plot point in 358/2 days on the DS. Think those mannequins you see in clothes stores but only come to life after a heart is put into it.

I really really hope that the Musical quest is on ps5, because otherwise I will be very annoyed

Great, thanks for the information.
Anyway, who is everyones favorite Organisation 13 member?
I am leaning towards Larxene, mostly because how she is such a huge bitch in CoM and loves being it.
Her VA is so fitting for her.
