Nolan's The Odyssey - Potentially could be epic or an epic flop.

this feels like a copy of that movie down to the lack of supernatural elements
It does have the gods, at the very least Athena is in it since Zendaya (fucking lmao) was cast as her. Circe and Calypso have also been cast. The trailer was also pretty blatantly showing the Cyclops and his visit to the Underworld. Honestly of all the Greek adaptations you could try to cut the supernatural elements from the Odyssey is probably the one you just can't.

And watch it be part of the story Bernthal (who burns local) is telling to the other retards. No way the goofball who gave us the flying junk heap that was The Bat gives us actual supernatural elements. Wrath of the Titans is going to be a more accurate version of the Odyssey than this.

If I'm wrong I'll never admit it and will smugly pretend I was right all along

The armor is atrocious. Looks all shiny and plastic like shit from temu, and the spine decoration? It makes no sense, can he even look up without it stabbing his actual spine?

What we lost in return for Halloween costume tier Greek armor:

Odysseus not having his boar tusk helmet is the most egregious part of the armor design, outside of Achilles' armor and shield it's probably the only notable armor description from the Iliad and we have multiple real life examples of it.

Because the majority of moviegoers don't know how diverse greek armor is. They only know the stereotypical greek armor and associate tusks and horns with Vikings.

It's the same reason why all Hollywood movies about ancient Rome use the Toga even for movies which take place in a time where the Toga was out of fashion.

The armor in your picture may be historically correct but it looks "unrealistic" and kinda "weird". The average moviegoer won't believe it and think it looks silly.

I don't need 100% accurate armor. However, I would like something a little bit less generic like the ones we are going to get. Couldn't they also add a little bit of a color?

The thing I hated the most about those stupid Titan films from the early 2010s was how they made the mediterranean, one of the most beautiful and color landscapes on the planet, into a grey and dreary mess.

Pretty bad when the production photos look better than the trailer. I already don't like Nolan but this is straight up burning money.

Hollywood is stuck in Classical Antiquity because people falsely associate Classical Greece with sophistication and nobility.

I respect Nolan for at least using a real ship, that's already almost groundbreaking in modern Hollywood lol. But on the other hand, is there a worse photographer than Nolan? You have a truck flipping 90 degree in the air in Batman or an entire City folding in on itself in Inception and is it me, or did none of these scene cause any reaction in the viewer? Everything always looks desaturated and unfocused.
Man, i could rant for hours about this dude. Haven't seen Dunkirk yet tho.

The Odyssey looks fucking silly. Like... is this really what american cinema looks like now? It just looks... detached.

Theres not even one actually greek actor in the entire cast but they shoved niggers in there anyway

Fuck this faggotry

Erghhhh this sucks... And I normally like Nolan movies. This feels like he's going for a more psychological/character study type movie that nobody's gonna expect (but they're all gonna hate). You know, I liked this aspect of Oppenheimer, but The Odyssey isn't one of those stories where you go into the psyche of the characters. Its about the epic adventure and the cool monsters and battles and shit. Also the cast is fucking gay.
