This game is ridiculously broken, and I'm having a great time cause of it.

Its the kusoge of this sub genre and hearing the devs say break this shit is endearing. I do agree itself definitely not work full asking price atm. No alt colors at the least is some bullshit, so much like every game you're really just investing right now.

Its a few of its own mechanics that let it stand on its own and its definitely more offensive based. Movement is really all the defense you have and it could have fucked this game hard if they implemented wrong like early Brawlhalla.

I think it belongs up with the other notable indies. Not over something like Aether, but its nowhere near shit (gameplay wise) like CNsmash or Brawlout.

It's a lot of fun, I agree. Also alt costumes texture maps are in the game files already.

This doesn't stray from the pack as much as trying to be 1:1 melee clone.
It has enough of its own mechanics to give it more of its own identity:
  • You can block indefinitely with the penalty being push back
  • There's no dodging in general
  • You can air dash
  • Everyone can reflect projectiles
  • Grabbing was given the utility of grabbing and throw opposing projectiles
  • The ability to enable "strafing".
The only thing it's blatantly copying from Melee is the (unintentional) wavedash mechanic and maybe some of the stage layouts. It got some inspiration from Melee, but it definitely isn't a 1:1 clone of it.

Bought the game with the 20% off price, defiantly feels like 40 dollar game but I think with a few patches over time this could really grow into it's own niche. The only series I really had that much of a loving for is zim and he's damn fun (I like A:tLA but I really don't consider it a nicktoon just for how diffrent it feels from the rest of the channels lineup).

I could see shit like that (which has been found in the files), some modes and maybe VA being free updates battle for the grid style

They tried to appeal to the hardcore melee demographic though.

And these changes remove more than they add, honestly. The new block doesn't work as well as the classic shield in 1v1 I think. The lack of dodge definitely limits the defensive options, especially in air. You could deflect projectiles in melee too, and Nick Allstars makes it easier; I don't think projectiles will be as reliable.

All in all, the game sure had potential. It has passionate developers that know what they are doing, a strong engine and strong brands to boost it. I think the developers didn't have enough money to make it a proper title. Definitely adding voice lines and spending more time on the characters would have helped. It will not be a great versus game, but it will be a decent party game. The game is stable and pretty well polished, and has strong Nick brands to carry it.

Yeah, but that in of itself doesn't make the game a clone.

Along with blocking, they implemented a perfect (block that negates pushback) and parry guard so there is more to it than what's on the surface. While the lack of dodging does limit aerial defense options, it does encourage a more aggressive playstyle considering that there's a Rock-Paper-Scissors mechanic with the attacks that allow you to turn any battle in your favor.

Deflecting and reflecting projectiles are two different things. The strong attacks straight up bounce projectiles back at your opponents and the projectile gets stronger if the opponent reflects that projectile back.

Guys,
I think I'm ready

Just watched Joel's recent VOD of him playing the game and besides my disgust at him being a cartoon network kiddie (despite having some favorites from the network myself), he did bring up a thought.

Do you think the game could use some Final Smash-esque attacks? Same for items.

Has anyone else had trouble finding physical copies of the game? I've been searching various bog box stores for a friend and I haven't seen a single one.

As for me getting a copy, I'll wait a bit since money's tight for me right now due to some serious Pokemon-related purchases (and a monkey-related one) made this week.

Physical copies of the game were delayed for release if I recall.

I vaguely remember hearing rumors about that happening, I also remember seeing that Best Buy delayed their physical drop to today.

Apparently April is god tier? Unfortunately Helga is b or c tier?

@Scarlett Johansson

I think Helga is B. Outside of Patrick every character is pretty solid though April is in the upper tiers with her range and speed.

Helga has the same problem as Lincoln as they're both good, but nothing right now they have is really broken on the surface. Give it some time cause I think the slingshot usage will make her better.
