They added a Spiderverse outfit, and yes: it does animate the same way as the movie.

Wow that's impressive.

Think of all the stuff that could benefit from looking 2D. They could do a new Dragon's Lair game and give full control to the player.
I do hope this inspires some games to use this. It’s just a lower FPS, but done intentionally and it makes for a great look.

IIRC the FPS can be reverted to normal if you wish. I didn't think it would look that authentic in action and that they would just apply a filter or shader to the camera and call it a day. I'd love to see a whole game world done in that style though.

It's definitely something they needed to nail tonally to make sure he feels different to play than Peter.
If only there were some sort of alternate source of spider powers they could have drawn upon instead of the "Gets bitten by Radioactive spider" that would give Miles an excuse for different gameplay.

*COUGH COUGH*

I'm hoping they take what they did with spiderman and have Japan studio apply it to gravity rush.

Spiderman had a large variety of missions which was something that gravity Rush lacked, the second thing is spiderman controls much more tighter than Kat did and she would benefit from that because she controls like you're hurling a ton of fucking bricks and hoping that she lands where you want her.

Japan studio apparently did a ton with the DES remaster so they still have the capacity to do entire games.

I don't get the villain of this game. He's supposed to be the cooperate greed type that cares about nothing but making money, no matter how dirty he has to play it. This leads to a situation where he's covering up concerns about his new energy source so he can get it out on time and make a profit, but... Like... The concerns are that the energy source is unstable and gives both employees and people in the area a fatal sickness. Wouldn't multiple reactors that are guaranteed to kill both your employees and customers cost you a shit ton more money than you'd get from selling in the first place? Like, people are gonna figure out what's causing it, all the people qualified to handle it will be dying off, nobody will want to buy it and you'll be up to your neck in lawsuits.

'Why spiders, Master Wayne?'
'Spiders frighten me. It's time my enemies shared my dread.'

It's Captain Planet logic.

They're doing evil for evil's sake just because. If they had a nuanced reason for doing it, it would probably cause people to sceech about Miles not being the perfect and morally pure idol that he must be.

Meanwhile Peter Parker is allowed to be a jerk to people which is why he will always be way more popular than Miles.

Seems super lame and gay that they’ve basically copy pasted the move set with a few additions
It’d be cool if miles had his own moveset and mocap so he played totally different

No wonder the villain's undone by Miles just happening by a random computer that's conveniently open on all the proof of Simon's evil deeds.

I beat the story mode. I thought it was pretty good. Weird how the police feel like such a non-entity in this one. But then I also remember the clickbait articles about how Spider-Man is problematic because he helped cops in the last game. The BLM part wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I rolled my eyes at it but it's not Miles stopping everything to look right into the camera and explain the plight of the black man in 2020 and meeting George Floyd eternalized as an NPC in the game like I thought it'd be.

edit: remember the dweeb that proposed to his girlfriend in the last game and they patched it out because she said no? lol
edit2: also remembered the lesbian character who only existed to be gay and say she was someone's girlfriend. Like half her dialogue is just "I'm gay" lol

Played a few hours today, it's been sitting at my home for some months since I got it with the ps5. It's kinda average, even on expert mode it's pretty easy (besides those godaweful stealth challenges). And I already seen the city in the previous game so there's not a lot to explore. I enjoy the character moments but god the plot is already putting me off with the villain being Elon Musk (is that now going to be a thing?) and I'm having a feeling the starter villain will be forgiven for murdering people since "no one actually dies despite she has her minions shoot into a crowd". It also had a scene with 2 lesbian girls AND a mute girl interaction only to tick off boxes, and having the hero's mother be a mayor candidate is just a retread of aunt may leading a charity, it's like characters aren't allowed to just be normal humans, everyone needs to be superhuman with tons of time to invest in things rather than surviving day to day, which is supposed to be one of the most unique things in Spiderman.

Also the venom mechanic is a massive downgrade to having unique suit abilities. Like what the fuck where they thinking?
