Wow that was smooth. It might be worth pirating after all.

I am sick of Superman bad plots and people trying to recapture the magic of Sopranos therapy scenes. But at least camera work is good and the action doesn't look chopped every goddamn second. Even The Avengers movies suffer from that in my opinion.
It doesn't look bad. It feels fluid and shows that the character ain't bothering on sweating on this fight bc he doesn't need to.

I looked at the line up for the new Doomsday movie.

No Jean Grey.
No Storm.
No Wolverine.
There is no way Jackman ain't coming back and I'm sure they're still begging Hale Berry and she's making them beg harder.

But remember, the x-men we're gonna see in Doomsday won't be the official MCU x-men. They're there because they desperately need the mutants and they still haven't even cast them or properly introduced them. Not many people will care for whoever is the new Cyclops or Kitty, but they do care for Marsden, Jackman, and Channing Tatum. They only need to introduce the idea of the mutants to later get new ones that will carry on and these will have a full team.

I just realized since they bringing back the older Magneto from the Fox movies.

Well a miss opportunity for a Scarlet Witch and Magneto reunion.

For all the hype comic fanboys give Sentry, bragging that he could solo your favorite verse—Goku, Superman, or whoever—I found the MCU's version to be bland as hell. He really felt like a cheap Superman knockoff.

The only thing that I know about the Sentry.

Or even first heard of him.

Is that he split some Greek God in half in a later follow up issue to the Marvel Civil War series, that led to a major fight orgy stop for a few moments.

I am guessing since the movie wasn't R rated, they didn't have the Sentry or even the Void rip some movie character in half.

That movie is literally the definition of slop its purest most distilled formed imaginable.
Not really, pure slop would have been if they just showed redditpool and manletrine being faggots together for 2 hours, but you can tell the people involved actually enjoy the material they work with, don't have disdain for the people that consume it and aren't ashamed of what came before them.

So Thunderbolts is marvels take on the suicide squad but somehow, even worse? Thats an achievement!
Thunderbolts could have been cool if it was rated R and they leaned into the cast being shitheads more.

They learned absolutely nothing from the success of Deadpool and Wolverine.

I found the panel that I was thinking of.

And while reading into the Sentry.

The man is the only one capable of making the strongest version of the Hulk, into his bitch.

The original Ultimate Fantastic Four somehow has 3 out of the 4 still having their powers with the Maker in the new Ultimates universe.

And Ultimate Ben was able to switch between man and thing.

But they running with a forced plot point that Doom curing the Thing means that the Fantastic Four will lose their powers, despite in the Hickman 2000s run where Johnny gets trapped in another dimension full of demonic bugs for a couple of issues so Spiderman in white could shine.

Dr Doom has his own avengers now with Ozempic Onslaught and no clue who the others are.

Yeah but even SS kinda leaned into that absurdity of the premise and was carried by Will Smith and Margot Robbie. Plus it was mostly Batman characters to begin with like Deadshot, Harley, Killer Croc and Amanda Waller. Thunderbolts has:
>discount Black Widow from a movie nobody saw
>discount Russian Captain America whos fat and was also from this same movie
>guy from a TV show nobody watched but is the former Captain America
>woman from an Ant Man movie everyone forgot about
>Bucky who not a single person has decided to use in any meaningful capacity

The team could've worked if the post Endgame Marvel world was like Dark Reign, with Norman Osborn slowly taking over, becoming the Head of Shield and finding morally bankrupt but aesthetically clean replacements for the Avengers. But they didn't have a plan and most of their villains have died off.

The entire movie is deadpool and wolvering meeting cameos for 2 hours so the the audience can go "OH I RECOGNIZE THAT" and clap like seals for the entire runtime with a completely nonexistent plot.

Its the equivallent of a 2 hour long funko pop advertisement for various characters, more or less cocomelon for adults.

I had a great time watching DP3 and I agree with this statement. I think I even described it at the time as Marvel jingling keys in front of my face while I drool and clap like a seal. Same goes for No Way Homo and Doctor Strange Mom. They were all a ton of fun once and I don't think any of them hold up to repeat viewing.

Slop doesn't mean something is unenjoyable. Taco Bell is slop and that's enjoyable. It just isn't substantive.

Relevant video on the metaphysics of slop.

Extrapolates quite well to videogames, media, food, etc.

Its what you said, slop can be unenjoyable, but its not a nessesity, and just because you enjoy something doesn't nessesarily mean its still not slop though. Ideally, slop is made TO be enjoyed.

Brave New World is literally about serving slop the masses that have been brainwashed too much to actually give a shit. D&W is probably the closest thing modern cinema has managed to make that approximates a feelie.

I still enjoyed DP3 after watching it 3 times. Different friends wanted to watch it on 2 seperate occasions at home. I don't know if I would have thought of rewatching it myself but I still like it.
Fanservice of course plays a huge part but it mostly wears off after the first watch. I care about this one more than the other crossover movies however.

It gives a good ending for the Logan movie (which I didn't like, sue me) without touching Fox Wolverine. Wade dug up his grave for funsies but as a character he was done. They introduce another troubled Logan and I did symphatize with him. Wade has his own character arc which is kind of eh on its own but it compliments Logan's and they find a common ground. They find others like themselves in The Void and confront their inner and literal demons together. It all came together for me perfectly.

Also the comedy holds up and didn't make me cringe unlike the regular MCU quip festivals.
Except for Nicepool, Ryan was inserting his wife's enemy with him or whatever the fuck. It was stupid.

In a continuation from a old Fantastic Four chapter where the people from Old Logan escape to a better future.

I found they gave some closure to old Logan.

And modernized art version of Weapon X Omega as well.

On a side note, I noticed the artwork has heavily improved since the 1990s to 2000s era for Marvel Comics.

Is it because of Disney bux that they found better artists?
Better art? That last one is Greg Land, who's not just a serial tracer, he's a porn tracer. He gets work because he delivers shit on time and it looks alright to the untrained eye, but he's one of the worst artists in the industry.
At least his shit looks a little better than other horrible tracers like Deodato, but still. Horrible shit.

That said, there's some really good artists operating nowadays. I like Pepe Larraz, Daniel Warren Johnson, Marco Checchetto, and some others.

I am sick of Superman bad plots
I don't get why every plot like this is written like "Well, we can't trust Superman because of how dangerous he is" as if his arch-enemy Lex Luthor doesn't have the same belief.
But people aren't even paying attention to the more passable or decent ones because they're either tired of the genre or because they expect a bad one. They're just going to go the same way of western movies eventually.
It doesn't help that most of Marvel's lineup has already been adapted, so they're left to scrape the bottom of the barrel for content.
Also, western movies had the same issue where the genre was flooded with trash and people just gave up.
I remember there was an episode of The Twilight Zone that was a thinly-veiled attack at the Western genre by Rod Serling.
Ikaris from Eternals?
Bold of you to assume anyone remember the Eternals.
They're actually the New Avengers.
THAT'S IT?!

Months of marketing and all it amounted to was a cheap twist at the end that won't matter because Doomsday is around the corner?

This makes even less sense when you remember all the shit Sam got in Falcon and Winter Soldier and Brave New World for inheriting the Captain America mantle. So an established Avenger who has already saved the world several times can't be Captain America, but a bunch of ex-cons can all be Avengers with no controversy? Even John Walker, the dude who beat a man to death in public?

It's a problem with a lot of movies focused on anti-heroes these days. They're too afraid to make the anti-heroes too mean, even when the marketing says "They're not like OTHER heroes."

Get ready for Miss Marvel to join the X-Men.

It had a handful of cool scenes, but it didn't really lampoon the multiverse concept as much as it should have.

For me DP3 felt more like a final love-letter to the old era of pre MCU Marvel whether it was Fox or Sony. Its cameos and callbacks could've been cut out and you would still have a story about the TVA from a show nobody watched with Cassandra Nova and past trauma with Deadpool and Logan. Nobody even remembers Jennifer Garner's Elektra and Channing's Gambit was a meme casting that never went through. I think its way different from something like No Way Home which is entirely dependent on its multiverse plot and 20 year old callbacks. Like, Green Goblin from the Raimi movies is the main villain along with Doc Ock, Sandman and the ASM Elektro and Lizard as supporting villains. The movie marketed itself as this multiversal clash between the old and new era and Peter 3 literally couldn't grow or overcome his emotional trauma without the help of the other Peters. The funny thing is I enjoyed NWH but really its carried hard by promising Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina.
