They've fallen for the meme that lots of women would share their autistic hobbies if only those dang GooberGaters weren't harassing them. Nerds who never interact with women are extra vulnerable to these kinds of feminist arguments because they have no idea what women are actually like. It's like how people from rich, super-white areas are the most likely to become SJWs.

No way Alan Braverman (Disneys VP and General Counsel) won't be made aware of this if Meyer files suit. At the very least it will be a bullet point for the morning meeting. It would be hilarious if Waid's attempt to throw his weight around the comics world winds up pissing off Disney execs. It's like a middle school bully trying to punch the class nerd and accidently hitting a Hell's Angel in the dick.

Yeah, a more accurate metaphor would be for Marvel to push him out of the way of the bus and take the hit instead. Which absolutely will not happen. They may not have a choice in the matter though. D&C has months and months of screen caps, twitter logs, audio and video communications and so on of Marvel employees that can show a pattern of organized malice by the corporation itself. It may not have been directed by the executives at the company or organized in any formal way, but nothing was done to stop it either. And under laws like the ones being bandied about, official negligence is no defense. They can't act as if they were not unaware of what was going on. They had a legal obligation to prevent the activity that Waid was but one active minion in advancing.

From the sound of things Meyer is definitely going to sue Waid. His lawyer will (correctly) point out this will still be expensive and at the end Meyer is not going to see a red cent from the old loser. The only way to actually get blood from the stone is to put the squeeze on Marvel, and maybe even the House of Mouse itself.

*edit* to clarify why Marvel itself is in legal jeapordy here, Waid may have been the causal agent that brought about the illegal acts, such as the Defamation, and the tortious interference. But he did not commit these crimes in a vacuum. They occurred under the backdrop of a larger problem at Marvel itself that actively encouraged these behaviors. Worse still, the idiots made this all public on facebook and twitter, so it was not like it was a big secret. The only thing was that the defamatory statements and organized hate campaigns against D&C never rose to the level of actually causing Meyer damages that could be proven at court. He was a sperg on the internet with a shitty youtube channel. Not big bucks. But the moment Waid interfered with a contract for a publication deal backed by 300,000 dollars in startup capital? Whole different ball game. And all of that prior activity by Marvel employees forms a legal thread that a good lawyer can follow all the way to Marvels bank account.

Agreed. Marvel will quickly settle with Meyer. Disney's best case for minimizing their exposure is to leave Waid hanging as a rouge employee acting on his own, and pay up a reasonable amount for not properly policing and enforcing their clearly published rules and policies on the Marvel offices. Any rational settlement with Meyer will be far far cheaper for Disney than the insane legal risk exposure they would face if they were to be linked to Waid's action or activities even indirectly. Their only play is to admit a failure of oversight of an idiot, plead forgiveness and write a check. But to do so likely means that they absolutely cannot in any way indemnify Waid. They cannot and will not pay for his lawyers or any damages. Any settlement with Meyer will not include Waid. And Disney will probably privately forbid any and all Marvel employees from contributing to a Mark Waid legal defense fund, as that to could be called out as internal parties supporting Waid's anti-competitive actions. `

Just to remind everyone Meyer did in fact apparently file an FTC complaint earlier this week. Since Disney is involved, a company that is on the radar already due to it's monopolistic scale, it's not just going to be buried. Somebody is going to look at it.

They act as if this is the sum of all evil, and put these words into the mouth of Red Skull himself, arguably the most evil of all the villains traditionally (because come on, he thought the Nazi's didn't go far enough). And that shows the core problem with the SJW's and to a larger extent with the far left. They always seize the benefit to them in these new things. The new information age. The ability to communicate. But somehow they seem completely and permanently blind to ever thinking through that the same things that benefit them, such as the ability to meet and communicate with other fellow traveleres, thus increasing your small inconsequential pack on lunatics into a robust angry mob, can also be used to equal or greater effect by those that disagree with them.
