  1. Goblin Slayer roguelike where you prepare by scouting the area, buying equipment in-town, and have to clear out goblin nests using weapons, spells, and traps.
  2. Warframe-like game that actually uses its gameplay features (like the really good mobility) to its advantage rather than just being about nuking rooms while staying practically invulnerable the whole mission.
 
I think there's a ton of untapped potential in making post-dad games (games that are normally mundane but niche simulators, but are given a narrative element or some aspect of fantasy that makes it different) about sports.

Pyre is kind of an example, it having been fantasy basketball with a fantasy story.

I have two suggestions (off the top of my head) with this.

One is Mayan Ball Game: The Game. Roguelike. You lose you get sacrificed. It played like soccer meets basketball IRL.

Another, more to say about it, is Sprinting Through No Man's Land: The Game. The book is boring as hell, but it was a butchery of an interesting concept: the first Tour de France after WW1 (first ever?) was a hell of a race. They were riding over, in many places, the broken hellworld of No Man's Land, around ruins of the French countryside/towns that died for France, and they had rules where it was every man for himself with a requirement that he maintain his bicycle entirely by himself. One bicycle.

That's the thing that makes that race so interesting. It was nothing like the modern Tour, a purely athletic team competition. This one was more of a test of the human will and ingenuity. It was like a road trip from hell. Their bicycle (and they were allowed to walk into town if need be) was their only bicycle, their only connection to the competition. When it broke down, and they broke down spectacularly and constantly, they had to jury-rig the repair in the field. They rode on some of the worst road conditions imaginable.

So imagine something like Jalopy meets cycling game meets Car Mechanic Simulator meets WW1. You have resource management, you have repair minigames (bicycles are simple enough it could probably be simulated down to every piece), you have the French countryside in full glory and tragedy, you have the human stories around it, and last and least you also have some bicycle racing.

It would be fascinating.
 
I want a boarder patrol city builder where you have to make your city amazing but also keep out the undesirables.

It may be a joke post, but there's a world of potential in a city-builder that lets you play jobs in the city, like one of those really old Sim City games did. It might have to either have very simple graphics or "export" the city instead of allowing you to seamlessly flip between city-building and manual play, but it's definitely POSSIBLE, Anno 1800 let's you walk about your city at ground level and it's low poly but still somewhat pleasing to the eye (could look better with more effort put into it).

Anyhow, it'd be awesome, sculpt your city and then do emergency services/transportation jobs in it (police, firefighters, ambulances, helicopters, taxis, trains, etc).
 
Does anybody know of any games since 2006 that use the 'Hot Swapping' mechanic from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat? If not it's definitely something game developers should consider for future titles. How it worked was during missions in the game you wouldn't be set to just playing as one single character but rather had the option to jump between all the troops on your team, allowing for massive open world battles as you could jump around the map with the click of a button.

Another game with the food mini games like what we got from Vanillaware. Unsure why, but I loved those.

A shooter where the projectile physics are either identical or very close to real life weapons. It doesn't have to be a simulator, but if they got at least the velocities and trajectories correct, I think that would be cool.

Another call for a new Ninja Gaiden game. They don't have to make it "for modern audiences" but if they could not dress the big titty supporting character(s) like they're a retarded cosplayer, that'd be good. Ryu has to be the main character. It has to have dismemberment and gore.

Days Gone sequel.

I'd say a modern Star Wars: Podracer. Not a fan of Nu-Star Wars at all, and it would be more of a curse than a blessing with EA or Ubisoft behind the wheels, but on the other hand a Forza-esque Podracing game with in-depth customization and modern visuals would be great. I'm honestly surprised that one hasn't been made yet, either. Imagine having a mix of tracks based on canon and original locations, with canon racers on top of the ability to create your own custom character. Imagine being able to create custom podracers from the ground-up out of a huge variety of engine and cockpit components, with fully-customizable paintjobs and decals. Imagine your pre-game lobbies being a big three-dimensional hangar or showroom where racers can see each others' vehicles up close, while pit droids run around and perform pre-race check-ups. Imagine the sexy anime girl paintjobs that weebs with way too much time make for anyone to download in the community creations menu.

I'd also take an Ocarina of Time and/or Majora's Mask remake in Breath of The Wild's engine, so long as it still tries to stay faithful to the OG visuals and gameplay — just with BoTW's cell-shade anime look.

Or, you know, a good Star Trek ship combat game. Something like Legacy but bigger in scale, with proper three-dimensional movement.
 
I want a Mass Effect style immersive sim set in the Stargate canon. Ideally I would want ME1's RPG elements, ME2 writing, and ME3 combat and movement. First or third person doesn't bother me, but for immersion's sake I prefer first. As weird as it sounds, I'd rather combat take a backseat to dealing with people and negotiating with other groups of people.
 
A comprehensive, realistic, and earnest bird simulator. More focus on flight than bird survival aspects, though. I feel like barely anyone has tried to make games where you even play as a bird, let alone a realistic approach. The closest I can even think of is Terry Davis' flight sim in TempleOS.
 
The Aurora apartment takeovers gave me an interesting idea; something like GTA combined with a strategy element. Your mission is you and your neighbors liberate cities from gangs and crime. I don't know how it would work exactly but basically you control finances, stamp out the invaders and criminals, and restore law and order.
 
Mass Effect: Gaiden.
You pick up during the events leading to the end of ME3. The Turian campaign to get new players acquainted with squad combat. Then the Tushanka theater of war, and finally the Geth-Quarian unification war. Once you complete that last campaign you pick any of those factions to join the hammer forces on Earth. Near the end one of your squads moves in on the London battlefield assisting Shepard. They find him semi-comatose but alive and bring him to a FOB for treatment. Depending on your ME3 gamesave, the real ending to the game would take place, complete with an actual end boss fight.
Multiplayer includes full character creator that lets you pick any of the campaign factions (Turians get rifles/assault rifle bonuses, Krogan get biotics with shields, Quarians carry omnitool tech stuff, etc...) DLC later on adds Salarian STG operatives and Asari commandos. The whole point of the game is to 1) bring about a real ending to ME3 and 2) let you play as the funky alien races instead of lame humans.

Interesting. Closest I know, and it's just for multiplayer, is Enlisted allowing you to hot swap within a squad and designing the squad around specific roles (one character gets the dedicated weapon you want, other characters have roles like carrying the bandages/dynamite/etc.). But it doesn't work well because your AI squadmates are brain dead, they have the life expectancy of a house fly.
 
A zombie apocalypse game on the total war engine about building a new civilization out of the ashes of the apocalypse. Zombie hoards being a major problem at the beginning, preventing trade with other bands of survivors, and eventually settling your horde down in the ruins of an old city to scavenge for things so you can build better units and buildings and finally turn the tide on the zombies. Regional starting factions that have specific flavorings, but your research allows you to really customize your faction and not just work your way down a tech tree. and there would be units more suited to killing zombies and other units for fighting people, so you would need to manage your armies around what threat they were facing.

A "Shock" style immersive sim based on the Mystery Flesh Pit Museum. There was a game planned but it was unfortunately canceled.

An action horror game (like Dead Rising or something) based on Junji Ito's Gyo. It doesn't have to follow the story exactly. I just want to be able to fight against hordes of rotting mechanical fish. It should have a fair amount of dark humor in it, too. I want to see something besides typical zombies.

A survival horror game based on Stephen King's The Mist. It can be an ordinary person trying to escape, a soldier trying to close a dimensional portal or perhaps you can play multiple characters like Siren. There's a ton of room to get creative about monster design.

I enjoy "you play the monster" games such as Carrion and Maneater, so I would like to see another one. I wouldn't mind playing something like the Carrion monster but with better graphics, a greater variety of fleshy creatures to hunt (with lots of gore), and more sophisticated gameplay since Maneater got repetitive after awhile.

Easy Red 2 does something similar but not exactly and its an indie WW2 game.
 
I really feel that the FNAF franchise taped onto something with help wanted.
If the franchise focused more in being a Quirky job simulator instead of jumpscares it wouldn't be so mid.

I'm sure it exists already, but a game that feels just like Minecraft (in terms of emphasis on whimsical low fantasy-like settings and relaxing/laid-back/simple gameplay) but set amid a Hollywood-like asteroid belt.

I honestly feel like LEGO could do a Rock Raiders reboot like this.
