Florida is about to get raped by the largest hurricane it's ever seen. I have unwaivering faith in Florida man's cockroach like ability to survive against all odds. Godspeed FL kiwis.

Update:

Evacuation orders underway
Monroe County (Keys) is under evacuation order. Miami-Dade County is likely to order South Dade and Miami Beach evacuations tomorrow.

Update 2:

The hurricane is so severe it's reading as an earthquake.

After checking TWC a few times since this morning, I hear that Irma may weaken a bit once it reaches southern Florida- key word: may. Also, the full moon is tonight, so if it starts to wane this coming weekend, residents may be able to dodge a bullet of receiving the worst of it. We can only keep hoping.

I don't think there's much "if" about phases of the moon.

Or rather, should moon phases change there's bigger problems than a hurricane.

I'm assuming Florida man will break into houses and drown people in an effort to appease the wind God he angered during his last drunken meth fueled escapade.

Welp, Irma just broke another record. It has maintained 185 mph winds for 24 hours. The only hurricane to ever stay that strong for so long.

Florida Kiwi here as well. I'm on one of the coasts, albeit relatively "inland" on said coast. We're trying to find shelter for our last living horse right now (got a family friend further north/inland who offered to take her in during the storm) since our barn is in such disrepair it floods everytime there's so much as a drizzle. Even so, we're likely not evacuating. The last time we did was for Frances in '04 and we went across the state to the opposite coast based on advisement only for the fucking storm to follow across. Curved projection track my ass, NHC.

No one's gone out to get nonperishables that don't need cooking for us to eat, though. Gonna nag my family about that, especially since FPL always takes the longest-ass time to restore our power, mostly because we're on a tiny 17-person grid so we're not a 'priority'. Matthew swung through last year and it took the fucks 3 goddamn days to get to us, and that storm wasn't even that bad.

If nothing else, I got a fridgeful of Cayman Jack and a little Froggy B left, at least.

I wonder if he lives on the waterfront

I wonder if they've bothered to clear the fuckton of construction debris all around I-4 this time. I remember them doing nothing at all last year when that other one cruised by.

Jose is also looking like it could strengthen and/or change course. Katia looks like it won't be a threat at the moment, but this shit can change fast.

According to the PM of Antigua, Barbuda is "90% destroyed", but who knows how he's quantifying that.

This hurricane is going to remain powerful. The temperature is incredible right now.

Us people who actually live on the islands have this way of feeling, that we can tell if it will be a strong season for the Tropics, depending on how hot it really feels. I dunno what I'm talking about.

I mean, I do, but point is, this is the hottest time of the year for the islands, and that's why September tends to be the most active year for these storms.

Last year, Hurricane Matthew ravaged much of the country, but at the very last, possible moment, it switched away from my island, which is the northernmost island of the chain.

Currently, my island is not in the projected path, but I think after it touches Florida it's going to turn a bit towards my way.

Could you clairify who is fueled by Meth, Floridaman or the Deity?
