Why is the Quinari purple? I replayed Origins last year and granted Sten is the only Quinari in that game but he has like brown/tan skin.

Were they Barney colored in Inquisition?

They're gray in DA2 and DAI, from light gray to a dark slate. I think they're even referred to as "gray giants" by someone, though I disremember who.

Maybe they've (you know it's a they) got Qun-AIDS and it's Athlok's Sarcoma.

There's no way the people who wrote this slop have the balls to write deep roads content properly.

It would offend current year bioware players.

It would upset modern bioware fans, but imagine how much hype the game would get if you had a menacing metal soundtrack, enemies having their head smashed to bits by a warhammer, bodies exploding because of magic, slaves being beaten and whipped, mages being possessed and turned into hideous demons in front of you, darkspawn that are ugly enough to pass for necromorphs, lust demons with tits on display, a dragon tearing men apart with it's claws.

In 2010s that would just be business as usual, but now people are craving for it. People are sick of safe horny and safe edgy
Isn't that basically the new Doom game they just dropped the trailer for?

Just replace the warhammer with a kickass flail.
I think Bioware has been dead since ME2 when they started to casualize everything, from the exploration and progression to the customization.

Dean Takahashi is literally everything wrong with gaming and gaming "journalists" in a single misshapen lump of aborted flesh pretending to be a functioning human being.

The Dragon Age fandom wiki already has descriptions for those "factions"...
The Veil Jumpers are an alliance of Dalish mages and hunters, along with other non-elves, that formed to deal with the threat of what is happening in Arlathan Forest.

The Lords of Fortune are a renowned guild of treasure hunters and dungeoneers based out of Rivain.
The Lords of Fortune are considered to be among the best treasure hunters in Thedas. Beyond recovering treasure from caves and dungeons, Lords of Fortune have also been known to pursue monster bounties[2] and steal from rich collectors.[3] For an added cost, they also offer protection to those employers that accompany them on treasure hunting expeditions.[1]
The Lords of Fortune are known for their colorful outfits, sashes, capes, belts, scarves, and charms, and for wearing their treasure; though such display is reserved to those Lords of Fortune that survive more than a year or two.[2]
Some Lords of Fortune specialize in disguises and changing accents.[4]

The Shadow Dragons is a secretive group operating in Tevinter.

The Mourn Watch is an order within the Mortalitasi.
The Mourn Watch serve as the elite guardians and keepers of the Grand Necropolis and its sacred repository of the dead. They also deal with magic that has gone awry, especially as related to Nevarran funerary rights and corpse possession. The Mourn Watchers have absolute authority over funerary dead.[1]

On the rest:
Sounds like MMO quality factions and leftover from Dragon Age: Overwatch.

They're abandoning the Keep and only letting you keep a few details from DA:I. That's going to anger a lot of fans. DA:I is ten years old and almost nobody has their saves, but the Keep was a big deal to fans. Choices will be "did Inquisitor fuck Solas"/"did Inquisitor punch Solas."

We do not need to keep going back to the Deep Roads, give it a rest. We barely went there in the main Inquisition game except for Varric's loyalty quest. Just like we don't need to go back to the Veil ever again.

Up font: I was never a fan of this series. First one was OK, didnt like the sequel. Ignored the third. Didnt even realize there was going to be a fourth until I saw this thread pop up minutes ago.

And nevertheless I am SHOCKED how bad that trailer is. Sympathetic to how freaked out the fans must be. Look, Bioware has been dead since Mass Effect 3 but even this is a new low.

At least the comments under the trailer are amusing. And uniformly negative. One of the worst roll outs I have ever seen. Its really like every single Current Year trend from a 10 year long development cycle was tossed in and people are actually noticing and rebelling now.

This shit is gonna make Duke Nukem Forever look like a success in comparison. A classic even.
Duke nukem forever is a decent throwback game held back by years of expectation. This is just gay slop

tragic af. mental illnesses should never be accommodated. they should be treated (no matter how "painful").
Demonic possession from hell everyone

There's one thing that will make or break this game and that is the ability to go renegade asshole on everyone at any time . Andromeda and inquisition failed because they took that out and made it far less memorable. If this game is the same or worse? Kiss its chances goodbye.

It's funny seeing people praise the old Origins trailers. They were mostly made fun of when they were released, with the actual developers hating them and saying the whole edgy marketing push for the game came entirely from EA.

Anywho, the game looks awful. But that's been true for Dragon Age since Witch Hunt or whatever the final Origins DLC was called. I wonder which party member(s) will be the genderfluid non-binary blob.

The 2000's were a strange, strange time. People were already getting tired of the standard high fantasy by the time that game came out. I remember all of the ads for the first Witcher playing up what a gritty RPG it was with none of those damn morality bars that were everywhere at the time.

One of the few positive things I have to say about DA2 is the Qunari redesign was really good, you can tell there's some thought put into the design and how the presence of those huge horns would alter humanoid facial proportions and anatomy, ultimately resulting in an original and intimidating look, they actually look like they're a different species:

In Cisquisition they went with a much more human look which I thought was dissapointing but it wasn't nearly as bad as this, this just looks like some faggot cosplayer in grey paint and plastic horns glued to xir head:

The Arishok wept.

The Qunari are almost definitely going to be treated as "oppressed brown people" or "uwu something different culture, something racism"

One of the most notable things about the Qunari is how alien their morals actually are-they look like beast men/oxmen but their entire society is basically Plato's Republic and 1984. To some people its attractive, but its also a deeply disturbing system where not doing what you are told gets you mind broken.

At the same time-the Qun offers certainty and a chance for the underclasses/elves to escape their situation.

It was a "nuanced"(to use that word) faction that one could both despise and understand why it appealed.

There is no way they are going to make the Qun into anything but "virtuous brown people" and if not-it will probably be something like "well um the Qun can be interpreted in different ways"

Inquisition already started the trend of giving them more human proportions/facial features. (I say this, liking Iron Bull actually).

So its not out of the blue, but still sucks.

I think i Figured out Dragon Ages General Problem. DA1 had a rather simple Story with a really neat, fleshed out dark fantasy setting. It's been a while, but i remember Elves being slaves and magic users being potential walking Gates to hell.
DA was a simple "kill the dragon" Story at its core, with many pitstops where you could engage with the world. Every game after that (didn't spend much time with Inquisition, but it's about magicians Revolution?) Practically made it their Mission to "fix" the wrongs of the setting, instead of telling a proper Story, because the authors just can't handle a dark setting where things aren't going well. In a way, DA's world building, the reason people liked it, stands in the way of BioWare Story telling because they have no Taste and want to make slob.

Incidentally, I remember Gaider once mentioning that the DA2 redesigns of the Quanari and Flemmeth were how they were supposed to look in Origins but they didn't have the budget for extra unique models. I can see that for the quanari but the Flemmeth one I find hard to believe. Her entire character in DAO was swamp hag who hid dark secrets.

And, yeah, they definitely keep softening the quanari people and the Qun. It was obviously meant to be fantasy Islam. In the core game of DA2 I don't remember them changing too much, in fact the Arishok seemed to largely confirm what Sten said about his people. The problems didn't start until Felicia Day's shitty donut steel OC character was forced into a DLC as a quirky elf that was also a super cool quanari spy. Then that shit snowballed in Inquisition.

On twitter they are going out of their way to do damage control. Saying the game is in between DA2 and Inquisition in terms of tone, but the dialogue is apparently all marvel quips. (Which is even worse, tbh).

It’s hard to know which is real and what is Bioware doing damage control.

But from what I’ve seen, BioWare’s marketers and staff are desperately trying to calm people down.

If the damage control is true, you’re going to see a reasonably serious tone mixed with marvel quips and Whedon dialogue. “Uh there are demons pouring into Minthrathous, everyone is screaming and dying”

“Well…that happened,”

“Solas wants to bring down the veil”

“What are we, some kinda veil guard”

Solas: goes on some long soliquoy about the elves and the need to reconcile the world of matter and spirit,

“Hey Egg, you got any milk in those cartons”
We have only one good game in the series. Lets forget it and try to Invent the wheel a fourth Time. Are they fucking retarded. Just do origins 2 you pants shitting retardfaggots

idk about that inquisition part.
i couldn't do it myself, personally (goodie two shoes in games, no matter what). but youtube has a ton of videos of "renegade" inquisitor. you can be Very vile, harsh, violent, horrible, and "mean" in inquisition. not just in combat, but in dealing/ interacting with the game's characters.
it's^ funny and entertaining to watch. but my inquisitor can't do it. X]
