So, Dragon Age is going to have its Andromeda, eh? LOL.

Not really. As big a misfire as Andromeda was, it was still for all intents and purposes a side story; an offshoot of the epic narrative that dominated the Mass Effect Trilogy. Say what you will about the ending, but the story of Shepard was wrapped up, done, finito. Anything they did with the universe after that was just playing around, experimenting, seeing what they could do with this setting now that the guns had fallen silent.

DA4 has to deal with the cliffhanger of Inquisition, the return of the elven gods, the Qunari invasion, the mystery of the blight and how it ties in with the Titans, deliver on all the buildup of Thedas's greatest city after three games and dozens of supplements' worth of buildup, and it has to do all this after a ten year gap between installments. Oh, and it looks like neon colored dogshit.

This is going to make Andromeda look like Skyrim.

I'm surprised they didn't cop out and make it a prequel or some other such nonsense but I'd imagine the faggot writers consider themselves the cream of the crop. Of course they'd be able to do justice to all of that. Duh.

There's a codex entry somewhere called "sexuality in Thedas" where its literally "homosexuality is basically accepted, or at worst is seen as selfish and weird". Partly that' Bioware's liberalism, and partly that's a way to justify most romance options being bisexual.
Maybe healing magic made childbirth safe enough not to dedicate the whole pseudomedieval female population to it. It's an acceptable break in reality.
I mean even in Origins-you see female soldiers and then you learn about broodmothers. I’m sorry what? Any halfway realistic society in which that was a real threat(corrupted monsters stealing women and using them to mass produce more of their own in horrific rituals) would move heaven and earth to keep women off the front lines. But gender equality!
Yes, letting female dwarves into the Legion of the Damned is insane. Deathseekers are militarily useful, but not if every single female casualty of yours can birth hundreds of new enemies.

Game director is, as far as I'm aware, still a "lady" known as Corinne Busche, whose only experience working on games is a few Wii games from 2007 and The Sims - primarily The Sims Mobile, which is horrendous mobile game trash.

ON DRAGON AGE

The Dragon Age franchise has a very special place in Corinne’s heart. In part, she says, that’s because the games are all about possibility. “In Dragon Age, you can be who you want to be, explore the possibilities and consequences of your choices, and build relationships that leave a lasting impression,” she says. “Few games give players that kind of autonomy while also weaving such a rich narrative—I think it really speaks to why our players feel so invested in this world.”

And the idea of being who you want to be carries a particularly special meaning for Corinne. “As a queer trans woman,” she says, “I have a perspective on the games that not everyone has. Dragon Age has long been a place where LGBTQIA+ folks can see people like themselves, represented respectfully. It’s inherently very queer, and it’s such a rare thing for marginalized communities to have representation where we feel proud and powerful in how we are depicted. It’s so deeply meaningful for so many. I often get emotional when I think about what it would have meant for a younger version of myself to see someone like her in a game, and as a hero, no less. I hope we can be a safe place for our queer players to know they are not alone, that they are brilliant and worthy, that they are not only welcome but celebrated.”

ON BIOWARE

Corinne has found a similarly welcoming environment at BioWare itself, she says. “I transitioned during my time at BioWare,” she tells us, “and I reflect all the time on how supported and seen I felt through that process, and how lucky I am to be surrounded by people of this caliber. It really speaks to the values of this team, and their commitment to inclusion in their works and their lives.”

I have been done with bioware for years now, you could feel the soul leaving after the EA take over, but somehow this fucking Trailer still managed to ruin my morning.

It's just so sad how they keep using the Name of BioWare to prop up this perfectly diverse corpo bullshit.

It's the fact that the name Bioware resurfaces good memories and proceeds the shit all over them is what sours my mood.

I wish that after these days of "visibility" they would turn invisible so I wouldn't have to see their ugly mugs always shown from the front on with no profile as to disguise their unmistakably male face.

Aside from that, I am surprised that this is even coming out. For YEARS I asserted that it would, mercifully, remain vapourware. Sadly it seems that I was proven wrong and that instead the world has been seen fit to be punished once more by an abortion pushed out by the studio wearing the name BioWare like a troon wears the moniker of woman. This sucks, I wish only pain and suffering on everyone making this abomination a reality, also Mass Effect 1 was the only good game in the series.

DA4 is the Season 8 of GoT?

It can be saved with good gameplay. I'm optimistic it will turn out to be a fun game.

Up font: I was never a fan of this series. First one was OK, didnt like the sequel. Ignored the third. Didnt even realize there was going to be a fourth until I saw this thread pop up minutes ago.

And nevertheless I am SHOCKED how bad that trailer is. Sympathetic to how freaked out the fans must be. Look, Bioware has been dead since Mass Effect 3 but even this is a new low.

At least the comments under the trailer are amusing. And uniformly negative. One of the worst roll outs I have ever seen. Its really like every single Current Year trend from a 10 year long development cycle was tossed in and people are actually noticing and rebelling now.

This shit is gonna make Duke Nukem Forever look like a success in comparison. A classic even.
