Sales on the book tanked harder than ever and only bad PR saved it from cancellation. For some reason Disney thinks this is the model they should base a hundred million dollar movie on.

It looks like they're having Brie Larson take the character in this same direction and play a man with tits and super powers. It's all dogshit because she's an attractive blonde woman. Attractive blonde women don't look like "renegade soldiers" (lol wut) and don't walk around looking sullen.

Cap is 100% going to sacrifice himself to save the universe, people would be far too pissed if some newcomer saved everything. Chris Evans is out, and she's going to be the new face of the Avengers. Problem is Brie Larson seems to be a bit of a cunt and the trailer really doesn't help her image. I don't think it will flop because a Secret Invasion plotline is pretty fucking sweet with Sam Jackson and Colson.

Another thing is that Cap held everyone together through his values, which was basically another part of his strength. Danvers has always been portrayed as holding people together with fear and the threat of violence and that shit failed hugely in the comics and will be a TERRIBLE replacement for Cap. Honestly, if they wanted a femme to replace Cap they should have just had Widow do it. She's been there since the beginning, she's been trying to reform herself. Marvel coming in and just going 'I am the head Avenger now' just reeks of just terribleness. You need to have her established, and one movie isn't going to do it. Fuck, even Black Panther would have more relevancy than Danvers to take over the Avengers because again, he's principled, resonated with audiences.

To just have her de-facto take the helm from Evans is a huge mistake. You don't know what audience response will be, and there are other characters who are already well liked and audiences have resonated with before. Captain Marvel, even at the height of her popularity, never rose above a C-Level character. I mean, you have the Guardians going from D-List to A-List, but that took a LOT of creative maneuvering and no one predicted or forced that shit. You have Captain Marvel being forced, and that's worrying. If they can't raise her profile to A-tier, you're going to have people not believing or wanting her to head the Avengers over other characters.

Black Panther, I can accept. Black Widow, I can accept. Falcon, I can accept. Stark, I can accept. Captain 'One Face' Marvel, from what we've seen, cannot be raised to their level. They're just promoting that she's a woman over the creative team and direction. Also its not fucking misogynist to shop her with a smile since she's literally had one fucking expression through all promotional material and trailers. No female character in Marvel has been that wooden, or even male, has been that wooden. My question is whose cock did Brie Larson suck to get Captain Marvel over the hordes of better actresses?

Is Marvel meant to replace Cap? I hadn't heard this anywhere else. I really hope you're joking here, dude, since I agree that it would be a total disaster. Of everyone else I'd agree that either Stark or Black Panther should be the ones who lead the Avengers after Infinity War. No one else either has the presence or the resources to take over.

Also, there is also the inevitable question when it comes to Brie's character, and apparently how powerful she is: where the fuck was she during the several Avengers movies? Apparently Nick could contact her during Infinity War, which means she is around presently. How long has she been around, and what was she doing?

Also, Hawkeye did a bunch of leadership stuff in the comics, most notably taking over the Thunderbolts when they tried to do the "renegade redemption seekers" thing (and kept screwing it up spectacularly. Man, that was a good book while it lasted.)

As an actress, I like Brie. She was good in 21 Jump Street and Scott Pilgrim even if she just had a generic love interest role. I just think as a person she’s dumb as a stump who falls for really obvious bait to get her to react. What were those male photoshopped smiles even supposed to prove?
