I can't wait to get called a bigot, sexist, and Nazi for not thinking this is the greatest movie ever made.

And I can't wait to get called a cuck for pointing out the good things about the movie.

You just can't win in 2018.

Oh great so instead of Adam Warlock save the day instead it's going to be Captain Noass instead, they really dropped the ball by doing nothing with Adam Warlocksince they introduced him (Remember in the post credit scene for Guardians of the Galaxy where a being called Him was created by the Queen of The Gold Skin people? That was Adam Warlock first name)
Warlock probably has a better ass, too.

To be fair, I don't think Marvel are pushing the female thing particularly hard? I know that magazine had "the future is female" on it, but that's all?

They aren't pushing it too hard on the surface, but I almost guarantee disney is paying journalists to push the feminism angle, to sucker the feminists into buying a ticket without alienating normal people.

Absolutely the MCU. Carol is nowhere near the strongest Marvel cape and is actually in the same ballpark as Spider-Man if we're going by her acomplishments. That's still impressive as Spidey is shown to temporarily lift a building or a commercial jet but that's far from being super impressive among their peers.

The trick is she has the ability to absorb energy to boost her powers and her limits with it can jump her up to being Thor-strong but it's nowhere near the norm. Not like we have white holes just laying around. Still wouldn't be "the strongest ever".

Even the recent comics have more been overhyping her popularity as "Earth's Most Popular Superhero" than her being the strongest. Her popularity being questionable as her last notable act was punching Stark into a coma for disagreeing with her idea of jailing people for being potential criminals.
If we're going to go into specific's as well, half of most of Carol's acomplishments were only possible with help from Jessica jones, a character who's alone in a much better Netflix show (albeit very different from herself in the comics). By making this movie, they're already having to replace a large chunk of what made Carol likable in the first place.

Of course, "how strong is X" varies a degree from writer to writer but I imagine Jessica is in the same weight class as regular Carol Danvers too. I was trying to get across that she's shown to be moderate and any "Thanos better watch out!" statements are just wanking instead of anything shown in artwork.

There's nothing stopping them from making the movie version the strongest character in the MCU but that would be silly and could backfire if they trap themselves in having escalating showings of brute force instead of being creative. Imagine the implications if you could brute force your way through the Infinity Gauntlet.

Only people who care that their favorites are the strongest guys to ever strong are either 12 or want the claim for their ego.

I feel like in the past 2-3 years I've seen this exact same discussion play out that 'this is the movie that will kill Marvel' or 'this is the new Marvel movie that will be terrible' every time the first trailer for a movie drops. You all are kind of getting ahead of yourselves.

No one has speculated on how well Captain Marvel will do at the box office. Given that it has momentum from Infinity War, it could outdo Wonder Woman. Part of me hopes not, but Black Panther's performance surprised me so we could have another mega-hit. That doesn't change my opinion that this was a shit trailer. There was nothing about it that made me want to pay $15 to see it in theatres. Venom and Aquaman could very well be shitty films, but at least they have my curiosity. Captain Marvel does not because it looks like a generic capeshit film that I would wait to rent at Blockbuster, if they were still around.

Honestly, the biggest complaint I have about the trailer is Brie Larson herself. Like, come on, Brie! You're in a Marvel movie! You should look happy to be there! Hopefully she won't have the personality and facial expressions of a wet towel throughout the entire movie. And I hope that the depiction of Carol Danvers isn't accurate to the comic books of today ... 'Cause Captain Marvel has become an unlikable Cuntasaurus Rex.

I'm excited for Nick Fury and Phil Coulson, the 90's setting, and especially the setup for the "Secret Invasion" stuff. That's a great storyline to pick up on as a follow-up to the Infinity Gauntlet, if you ask me.

I just hope that the MCU doesn't "go woke" with this movie. And if they ARE "getting woke," then I hope they wait until after Avengers 4 is done ... Because I'll be incredibly pissed off if that movie gets ruined. Just let me have my complete Phases 1-3 of cinema history and awesomeness, and I'll go along my merry way.

I'm a little worried about Kevin Feige's comments about Captain Marvel being the most powerful character in the MCU. For me, turning Captain Marvel into an overpowered "deus ex machina" to swoop in and save everyone would be my nightmares come true for Avengers 4. If they go that route, Marvel is essentially undo-ing ALL of the amazing work they've done up to this point ... Just because they felt the need to pander and virtue signal. Captain Marvel has NOT earned the job of killing Thanos as far as character development is concerned; literally any surviving character from Infinity War could kill Thanos, and I would be perfectly happy (though, I really hope it's either Iron Man or Nebula).

Russo Brothers ... Please don't let us down.

I want to make a movie and then claim I invented both women and black people.

One day, it will be true.

Did these people forget Wonder Woman exists? Like I can understand ignoring Spawn and Blade for Black Panther since those were older movies, but Wonder Woman came out last year!

Edit: Wait the article referred to being the first female MCU movie so it's technically true...

All I hear is you complimenting me for inventing the X chromosome around 20 minutes ago and you're welcome.

There have been SO MANY female-led comic book media that it's ridiculous. Captain Marvel isn't the first female lead in a superhero movie, and she isn't even the first female lead in the MCU. Agent Carter and Jessica Jones, anyone? Who doesn't love Agent Carter?

I liked Ant-Man and The Wasp just fine, but I rolled my eyes every time I saw some sort of media making a big deal out of the movie being the first Marvel film with a female character in the title. Cringe-inducing.

It's THIS kind of PR that waves all of the red flags. If all anyone has to say about the trailer is "OMG WOMEN!," then that doesn't say much about the film's quality. It almost tells me that Disney is preparing for a possible stinker of a movie by saying "You didn't like the movie ... And it's your fault, not ours. You're just sexist."

We can all argue whether Wonder Woman's PR did the same thing, but I'd argue that Warner Bros. didn't. It was the cringey online bloggers that made such a big deal about the whole woman thing. Warner Bros. just advertised a highly anticipated movie of a beloved character ... And the movie was very good (that "No Man's Land" scene is iconic; fight me).

And, I don't care what anyone says, Black Panther is the most overrated movie in the MCU, and I'm insulted that people have just brushed away the Blade movies as if they didn't happen. Not only was the first Blade movie the most successful superhero movie starring a black character (and one of the most successful superhero movies of that time, period), but I'd argue that Blade was the comic book movie that got the comic book movie craze started! Blade came out during a time when superhero movies were box office bombs. Without Blade, we wouldn't have gotten the X-Men movies, the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, or even the MCU altogether in my opinion. But sure, let's pretend that Black Panther is the most important movie of our time and forget how badass and fun the first two Blade movies are. lol.

Funnily enough I recall someone on production saying they basically threw out everything about her from the comics because "she was too much like Green Lantern," but from this trailer it feels like they've made her even more like Green Lantern but with an extra dose of amnesia.

People after the Spider-Man Homecoming Trailer: They gave away too much! I don’t even need to see the movie now!
Marvel proceeds to make the Captain Marvel Trailer more focused on the character herself and her introduction rather than the action.
People:
They didn’t explain anything! What the Hell is going to happen?!
Marvel: (:_(

Also, saying a film is “just a product of a SOULESS MEGACORP REEEEEE!!” Is not a valid criticism.

Like when that shit new Star Trek came out and they hyped having a black lead like DS9 didn't happen.

Yeah the Blade movies were way ahead of the curve for cape movies. And 3 is one of the earliest instances of Deadpool in a movie, even if he's got a normal-looking-guy disguise on.

I guarantee a lot of these cucks white-knighting for her had no problem with Henry Cavill receiving similar criticism in regards to his portrayal of Superman.
This shit literally spawned from a guy on Twitter actively trying to bait people into getting pissed off by shopping a smile on her face. She and her fans fell for it and news sites ate that shit up as her standing up to sexist catcalling or whatever.

I like Brie as an actress and I think she’ll be good as CM but as a person she’s dumb as a stump.
