Anyway, in not so good news, remember the Murder Drones comic adaptation?, well, not only is it just a shot-for-shot remake of the actual show, but it's not even completely accurate, it's like they didn't even watch the series itself.
>Have a second chance to correct the fuckups that the animated series made in a different medium
>Nah just copy the show 1:1 bro

What a bunch of retards. You had a chance to salvage this mess and you blew it. Good job.

that said, I'm still gonna read it, it's probable that someone on /co/ would drop a soft copy of the thing for me to read for free, the first ep adaptation has been issued to backers, just waiting now.

i'd like to post a more in-depth retrospective here after not watching the show in more than a year now, see what opinions have changed for me, if it really was as bad as I remember it being.

And it seems like announcing you’re not using AI is the new greenwashing. You can pull all kinds of questionable shit, like time‑limited merch to trigger FOMO but just yell ‘NO AI GUYS’ and the redditors will flood your comments with dicksucking, and that flood conveniently buries any real criticism.
It’s gotten to the point where animators put “NOT AI” in the title, then add some preachy description like “umm wow i can’t believe we live in Current Year where i have to say this…..” so the Bluesky users in the comments clap like retarded seals.

It’s especially bad for programmers who virtue signal about not using AI in code, a field that’s much more objective than art or writing. Do they assume that bad coders just don’t exist and that True And Honest humans can do no wrong? Personally, I’d trust a modern LLM that’s been trained on a specific piece of functionality hundreds of times to implement it in a clean, efficient, and easily verifiable way over some guy who took way longer to stumble through a worse approach because corporations are le bad. At least use it to sanity check, if nothing else.

Digital copies of Murder drones comic have been issued out to the backers who pledged for the digital copies. Luckily for my fellow kiwis, I have a pdf copy of it for your viewing pleasure.

Tdlr; Its even worse than we thought. Its a short retelling of the fucking pilot with no pacing whatsoever.

Edit: The file is being dumb as fuck for a PDF. Sorry for the trouble.

it works but why the fuck is this displayed in microsoft word

anyway, you're right, so, about half of the pdf is covers, credits, promotions for other comics, etc that most people don't actually care about, the other half is the actual adaptation in the middle portions, I read it all in about 10 minutes, and I don't even think there was anything substantially cut out, thats just the nature of a comics where it's completely up to the reader to decide their pace, unlike in video format where it can all be controlled by the director, also, going back to the OG animation, it seems that a lot of the jokes, where it requires the right timing and beat, have been significantly cut down here, where it's just related to fractions of a page, that's why this all feels so much faster compared to the original/

For my retrospective?, yeah, this series as bad as I remember it being, at least the ungodly unfunny jokes have been trimmed down but all that results in is the runtime being cut in half and the overall pacing being much shittier, why is the content that people actively paid for a worse version of the one that is freely available on youtube?, its actually surprising how little content is left when you get most of that out, that makes it clear why a lot of people in this thread were left so confused and unable to keep up with the pacing, much of that 8 episode runtime, especially in the earlier episodes were spent on shitty 2010s millennial humor and the rest is actual plot and characterization.

The foundational flaw of the series is still intact, most of the time it's funny-funny dark humor stuff, but it clearly still wants to do plot, worldbuilding, and even some level of character drama that wants to be taken seriously, in the case of the pilot, it's not that egregious because it's mostly kept in the background, but as we know, the plot and worldbuilding becomes front and center once the series goes on, and in the case of character drama, it really loses all dramatic tension when Uzi is le betrayed by her father for abandoning her when the only two interactions we have seen from these two are one comedic exchange about her lying about having a boyfriend and Khan loving doors, or N's heel-face turn happening so abruptly in hindsight after being so loyal to his abusive squadmates, dude switched his allegiances after having ONE (1) short conversation with his would-be target.

I had a little discussion yesterday about translators. I don't expect LLMs to understand the nuances of more obscure languages, for them be entirely perfect. But, they're more trustworthy than a lot of human ones at this point. At least ChatGPT won't turn my work into a soapbox.

Is Murder Drones just going to wither away into people's memories while every other GP project has infinity dollars poured into it

its just wringing out every dollar they can out of the MD fans, and I don't blame them, these people are the modern-day Sonic fandom, a completely mid, and even sometimes actively bad piece of media with a small, but autistically dedicated group of people willing to do so much for their favorite show, and that includes spending money on it, and since LV isn't interested in continuing the series any further, this will do, I just wished it actually contributed something for the series instead of copying it.

I'm starting to get burned out on people declaring everything that falls out of Glitch's asshole as some 10/10 masterpiece that'll save the animation industry when almost all of them are insanely generic and are only impressive because they're indie.

None of these shows are breaking boundaries and changing the animation industry forever, they're no different from the other 500 million "pilots" on youtube made by unoriginal theaterkid zoomilennials that never moved on from the 2010s. The difference is these ones have a bunch of money and celebrity voice actors thrown at it.

If any of these shows were made by an actual big studio and put on primetime TV absolutely no one would be impressed.
They'd all be either;
A) Forgotten about and dropped after one season as more interesting shows ate up viewership
B) Owl House 2.0 where it's 99% childless adults gooning over a childrens show while actual kids barely give a fuck

now that I think about it, I have never heard of a kid that is an actual Owl House fan, its all adult-aged progressive types, same exact thing as Steven Universe post season 1 when it stopped being monster of the week and started being serialized and character drama.

I'll admit I generally don't know what kids like so maybe I'm wrong, but every single person I have ever heard or seen soy out about Owl House has been an adult. I've never seen a kid talking about it or wearing it's merch both back then and now, the only people I saw obsessing over it when it was on-air were grown ass AWFLs and Tumblr types.

Post-canning it was/is even worse. No kid gives a fuck about muh hecking representation or the Disney corporation snubbing some showrunner. At most they'd just be sad that the show they watched suddenly isn't getting more episodes, that's it.

The people terminally online seething at the mouse over having their wholesome chungus underage lesbians taken away are exclusively adults. The number of people I've seen young enough to have actually been kids when the show was on-air is tiny, maybe 5% of the discourse I've seen at most.

I have a kid brother and kid cousins that grew up in the early 2020s around the time when this show was airing, their favorite show was unironically Skibidi Toilet, especially among boys, while the girls stuck to the more mainstream Disney stuff, I assure you none of them even knew what the hell this shit is, because the Owl House is a modern tumblrina show in a G rating.

I actually completely forgot about this. Tbf the series does too. Khan literally leaves his own daughter to fucking die and then it's never addressed or brought up again. Hell Uzi isn't even mad about it later. :story:
God this series is such a shitshow. Liam is a fucking hack.

Look. I enjoyed murder drones but I accept it for what it is. A bunch of impressive looking action set pieces and creative visuals. I refuse to believe people watched murder drones for the plot... you can explain 90% of everything about the show in the first monolog. Add some murder bots feel bad and a evil ghost is to blame and you get 98% of the plot.

If it's only good as a "Turn your brain off and just don't think about it" watch then I'm sorry to say but it's dogshit.
I keep harping on it because I WANTED to like the series and the worst part is with a few tweaks here and there it could've been serviceable but every single chance Liam had he ignored.

That's why people care because it had everything it needed to be good except a fucking writer who wasn't retarded.

I feel you, I truly do. I had hopes that hazbin hotel would dig into the dilemma of a sinner repenting in hell. Instead I got... I'm not even sure what I got. Without going into detail on how far off the rails it's gone. No one be it fan or author is sure how death functions anymore. Originally only angelic steel can kill with all other wounds even death resulting in regeneration/respawning. Now it's been extended to angelic power...but people treat normal weapons as life threatening... it makes no sense.

its because the consequences of it is pretty much dropped by the end of episode 2 for some reason, with her returning to the colony, along with her conflict with the rest of her peers and her dad.

this show is just objectively godawful when it comes to creating character drama, none of the character arcs and conflicts are satisfyingly concluded or sometimes forgotten entirely.

I can get some people enjoying the quirky millennial humor, or how some autists are into the FNAF-esque puzzle mystery plot, but there is nothing redeemable learn from how this show treats its characters.

oh no, you NEED an entire rewrite from the ground up if you want this show to NOT feel like a mess, there is so much shit wrong with it from the very foundations, the only thing that would remain the same is the setting and the general outline of the plot, but everything else needs a revamp from characters and their developments, to how the plot is being built upon, to even the tone itself to make it all coherent.

what the hell happened to that show anyway?, I think I only got halfway to season 1 before losing interest, it tried to be episodic while a serialized plot was also happening concurrently, not to mention suffered from a far too bloated cast that has entirely different arcs that doesn't really tie in anywhere.

Notice my choice of words. I said "Serviceable" not "Good." He could've at least had an understandable but mediocre plot. Instead we got a plot that's not only bad but hard to understand for no real reason.
