Regardless, I'm sure this show will at least be somewhat popular with a teen guy who just got off watching Pat the NES Punk on GameTrailers.com while signing a “put Mega Man in Smash Bros.” petition wearing a Hyrule Crest T-shirt and cargo pants purchased from Hot Topic and is still angry that E3 2012 sucked and Machinima won’t accept his Minecraft Gmod TF2 Let’s Play series done over Skype with his friend that goes on Reddit and will not stop making “The Cake is a Lie” jokes with Kevin Macleod music in the background and instead uses his money to buy a 3DS at launch and donate to the Kickstarter for the next big retro 8-bit nostalgia run and gun platformer on Kongregate.com made by the creator of Super Mario Bros. Crossover in collaboration with Paul Robertson, Jake Kaufman, Auntie Pixelante, and thinks JonTron is Jesus for bringing to light Rare’s N64 golden age before they were bought by Microsoft who made Windows Vista and that Game Grumps was stupid for dropping him while his bi-curious Tumblr-addicted girlfriend tells him about an obscure webcomic called Homestuck and is always excited for the newest episode of Adventure Time, while his over-bearing but loving mother restricts him from buying the newest Call of Duty for Xbox 360 that all his friends are playing while hurling racial slurs at each other and instead reads webcomics on Dorkly, CollegeHumor, Penny Arcade, Ctrl Alt Del, awesomesauce epic random rage comics on Know Your Meme, and whatever is the hit new sprite comic on DeviantArt.com while listening to the DuckTales moon theme and reading Sonic.exe and Genwunnner Pokémon Lavender Town Creepypasta from SomeOrdinaryGamers and Annoying Orange on YouTube.com and begs his parents to buy him everything on Vsauce LUT and heard about how that Avengers movie was actually pretty good and will not shut up about how Wreck-it Ralph changed his life while his brother blasts the Party Rock Anthem, “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas, “Revenge” by CaptainSparklez, and “Nugget in a Biscuit” and “I Can Swing My Sword” by Tobuscus on his iPod Touch-compatible stereo while playing DayZ on Steam after he couldn’t figure out how to get the Aether mod to work after watching PewDiePie play Flappy Bird and heard about how gross Fifty Shades of Grey was not knowing it was secretly Twilight fanfiction.

Yes but I think I may be having a brain aneurysm or a stroke or something after processing all that!

Hyrule Crest T-shirt and cargo pants purchased from Hot Topic
As someone who owned those exact things back over a decade ago and still probably does somewhere because shit's stagnant even the condition of cheap T shirts I gotta specify you got those from places like target or walmart or shit like jcpenny/macys.

Hot topic eventually became like another one of "the funkopop store" kinda places the last decade and a little earlier than that was some other shit but originally it was more the place you got band shit or spencers-y stuff like before spencers became the dick popsicle and beer merch place exclusively. During the 2000s they did kind of weirdly shift to nickelodeon merch store too which yeah includes the Zim stuff I found out via a recent trip to a nearby place that had one looking in the window they are still milking 2 decades after cancellation.
Difference is it's now all overpriced T shirts and hoodies when back in the day you had shit like exclusive variants of the really great looking but kinda fragile toys they put out for the show.

Also the obvious thing of them kinda becoming the thing south park parodied around the time that happened in the phase between that and the funkopop store #94913492 phase of the place

I was talking about that in the Glitch thread the other day. We were discussing how Knights of Guinevere hadn't been greenlit after three months, and that Glitch is now working on more series, including Lackadaisy and a new 2D series called Gameoverse. With the number of projects they're working on now, plus the fact that KoG has been the worst-performing pilot on the Glitch channel to date, we started joking that KoG would get rejected and that Dana would make a series against Glitch as revenge for betraying her. I said that if Dana Terrace leaves Glitch, Glitch would probably retain the rights to the series, like corpos do.

I am SHOCKED Dana’s Disney revenge fantasy show with ugly lesbians isn’t printing mad bucks for GLITCH.

It’s almost like most of the people praising her online are a a minority of crowd of lesbian fetishist gooners and woke manchildren, and Disney was 100% on the right on canceling her pet show.

Mind you Disney, one of the wokest enterteinment companies, canceled her show at the height of the woke era. She can’t even accuse them of “homophobia” Maybe, just maybe she was too busy trying to get Tumblr and twitter ass pats she neglected kids, you know, her target audience?

Disney gave her a once in a lifetime opportunity, that many other pros would kill for, by bankrolling her original idea, but she still chose to be bitter about it.

Even if you are into the lesbian fetish, why would you want to get your fix from her ugly manly butch cartoon characters instead of literally anywhere else like anime?

To bring this topic into this thread, it would be so fucking funny if Dana got burned by Glitch just as bad as Disney burned her.

As in, both big corpos and indie animation studios decide they've had enough of her. Almost like Vivzie.

So many laughs to be had if that were to happen.

i kinda liked KOG but the MCs are ugly lesbians and all of the characters are ugly and the world is ugly and the writing was annoying.

And the merch was ugly!!

This quote encapsulates what I hate about INDIE ANIMATION ™ and who they really appeal to.

My best guess is some people are burnt out on the whole "DIZNEE IZ EBUL!" narrative. I liked the pilot, but I understand if other people didn't.

To be perfectly fair, I won't lie and pretend she has no talent. Both Disney and Glitch have invested millions in her—that's no small feat. That pilot alone likely cost Glitch at least a million dollars. The Owl House was easily 20 times more expensive.

That being said, I think her main issue is bitterness and selfishness. She's not even the first creative to part ways with a studio, or Disney, and then take shots at them afterward. Shrek did it first and better.

The difference here is that this was her chance to prove Disney wrong by creating something amazing on her own. The harsh truth is that The Owl House was canceled because it ultimately neglected its real target demographic: kids. Having lesbians might earn you Reddit gold, but I never saw kids caring much about it.

While she does have talent, and Glitch was attracted to the mystique of "rescuing" a ""misunderstood" creative, she's actually very self-serving and shallow. She won the lottery twice by convincing another company to invest in her ideas, and the first thing she did was spitefully design ugly characters because, of course, "the male gaze" is evil. This was her chance to put her name out there.

The main audience she's aiming for seems to be millennials, manchildren, Redditors/Tumblrites, and Disney adults. And by the looks of it, they aren't enough to push it beyond the pilot phase—let alone beat TADC. Her interest is getting internet asspats from a certain crowd and that's not very profitable. Even TADC, with a trans creator has more universal appeal than her.

The Amphibia creator managed to basically do everything she attempted while staying in Disney's good graces and retaining enough viewership to tell his entire story without getting cancelled.
Wonder if Alex Hirsch regrets cameoing in that show as a Stan and Soos expy.

Why do people hate ok KOG I kinda liked it.
I found Knights of Guernsey to be surprisingly decent despite my low expectations. However, the people who worked on it, especially the (English) voice actors and Dana herself, I dislike them very much. Since I didn't develop any sort of attachment to the cartoon or its creators, I don't really care about it being greenlit or not. If we were to get a full season, I would get something to watch that may or may not be good and discuss it here; if we don't, I get to laugh at Dana and at her chronically online followers. This is kind of a win-win situation if you ask me.
Gameoverse sucked. It's tries to be AS's Pibby but it has NOTHING that Pibby had.
Why did you have to remind me of that? I spawned one of the most cancerous fandoms I've ever seen. I didn't even watch the original short, but I kind of know everything about it due to it being literally unavoidable for the average nerd when it was popular. We can still feel its impact with garbage like infection AUs, which are autistic fan media all about scenarios like "What if Sonic and his friends got infected with evil rabies?"

But now that you have mentioned how Gameoverse is similar to Pibby, I can see those similarities in that trailer. I don't have great expectations for the first episode, but it could still turn out to be okay like Knights of Guelders did despite its trailer.

KoG actually surpassed my expectations when I first watched it, the only thing I ever heard from her previous show despite not watching any modern western animation was that the two MCs are lesbians and nothing else, which did not fill me with confidence if that;s literally what all people at large can say about it.

But the pilot was pretty good, the mostly non-expository show-don't-tell worldbuilding was done competently, the characters are given enough personality with what a single introductory episode can show, the plot that has been established is serviceable, the "MacGuffin Character Hunt" is a common trope but that can be worked into something interesting if done right.
