Completely unsure as to where to put this: the SJW thread, food thread or ?? so I opted for this one as it encapsulates both areas.

I was mining my promotions tab for obnoxious submissions for the Corporate Pride thread, and came across this email from DoorDash with the subject: Opt Out of Father's Day Marketing? which caught my eye.

Can someone help me as to why Father's Day was chosen for this email? Who is this targeted to? Military families, niggers, ???

Just curious, your thoughts welcome. Mods please move to more appropriate forum if necessary.
I've gotten emails from Etsy and an indie jewelry company I follow that have sent out emails like this. Usually around Valentines and mothers day so far. Didn't get one for Fathers Day, but pretty sure I unsubscribed from emails at this point.

The vibe I got was opting out of potentially touchy holidays, whether due to not wanting to see a bunch of advertising due to it being irrelevant to you, not being in a relationship, or maybe you've lost a parent or didn't have them in your life. Personally I like the opportunity to say, yeah don't send me this shit.

Thanks for the responses; I lost my dad a while ago in not very good circumstances (suicide by firearm), but I never thought about a company having to be sensitive to that extent. I am sympathetic believe me, but it still reeks of pandering - how does one navigate the greeting card section for a June baby without being 'triggered?' I dunno, I think this sensitivity culture has gone too far.

I'd also imagine childless men that are childless not by choice and guys that suffer from male factor infertility too. I know they often do the same thing for mother's day for women who can't/don't have kids due to circumstances beyond their control like disability or infertility and so on.

A few companies did this for mothers day this year, I don't think fathers are the problem specifically. It probably started because someone with a personality disorder used Dr Google to diagnose their parents with the same personality disorder and then complained that the marketing emails were triggering.

The other thing that I can think of, is if someone trooned out, and their father spoke out against that, but the troon went ahead and did so anyway, and the father disowned the troon.

Or it could be a very high IQ reference to The Last of Us Part II, which had the infamous Joel-In-One scene, and was released on Father's Day weekend.

Yeah, that is the thing about trigger warnings and stuff, it isn't a replacement for therapy and I feel like it is a bandaid to the problem and can cause people to avoid working things out, especially if you need help grieving your inability to have children because like it or not, people around you are going to have kids and you will see kids everywhere you go and you need to be able to deal with that.

The note about Father’s Day makes me believe that they’re just mad that fathers don’t like to consume products that look like they dislike fathers just for being simply fathers.

A Texas bussinessman is creating coffins for the 19 children who were killed in the Texas school massacre. It's a noble deed and I'm not bashing the guy for helping these families out, but one coffin stood out from the others.

A coffin with the TikTok logo on it. Imagine your daughter getting shot and killed in a school shooting and her legacy is an advertisement for TikTok.
Christ, an elementary schooler on tik tok? Poor kid didn't dodge the shooters bullet, but managed to dodge a different one.

Emulator developers always say you need to dump the console's BIOS + games from actual hardware in order to keep everything legal. Nobody does that. You can usually just find everything pirated for download elsewhere, but I'm personally not sure where.
Also never go into official support channels talking about roms or patches or translations. They don’t want their projects jeopardized and ban on site. Always talk about “dumps” and “rips” instead.

They should. Gotta lock that shit down.

I'm not opposed to engagement rings for men, but do they have to look like Pokeballs?

Eh, I have a lot of random games on my Steam account, but the vast majority are there because I got them free or else they were on a fire sale for a dollar or two. I've not even played most of them.

It’s the “men bad” mentality. They want to cash in on Father’s Day yet not wanting to trigger ‘tards over something having to do with men. Inb4 they post something about FTM troons can celebrate Father’s Day too.

I remember when the lord of the rings movies came out when I was a kid there were cheap but official bookmarks they sold in like every fucking bookstore that came with a little prop replica of the ring on it. Nowadays they'd just charge 150 for the ring or some shit lmao.

Bloody hell, I thought all the people running around with copies of the One Ring were autistic.
