You know those dumb games that Nintendo always has a drip feed of? Those games that "real gamers" make fun of? Maybe Microsoft needs more releases like Part Time UFO or Kirby's Dream Buffet (HAL Labs, a great second party dev and the model for how it should be done) every few months to keep your fans playing games and to keep your developers sharp. Microsoft needs some smaller, regular release types of games (of good quality) to fill these holes and buy time.
I'll play devil's advocate, no other company can emulate Nintendo because Nintendo has the most rabid, fanatic and retarded costumer base possible, that will keep buying the same fucking games, even if they are completely broken, and accept the most anti consumer practices possible because they worship their corporate like a deity. And I wouldn't be surprised that the games Nintendo makes that are designed for 8+ year olds are played primarily by 30+ year olds.

When Sony and Microsoft tried emulating Nintendo they just lost sales after people blamed them for sacrilege, or didn't care for their small franchises. The best they managed is having exclusive Indies, but Indie development was taken over by incompetent trannies so it's basically dead.

I personally have no use for an Xbox without a disk drive because, as others have said, I'd want a Blu Ray player if I'm buying an Xbox at this point.

But out of everyone I know that plays games only one dude gives a shit about physical disks anymore. And none of the people I know who play on Xbox actually buy physical anymore. I think Microsoft have cultivated their users to the point that this wouldn't be an out of touch move for them.

I still can't get over how much Phil spencer lies out of his arse and has the gaming media run cover for him. His corkers:

X1X will have VR
XSX will be 4k@120fps with VR
From 2014 to present "just wait until you see what we have to show you in the future/next e3"
Redfall will receive a 60fps update within a month of release
Halo infinite will be supported for 10 years
Halo infinite co-op coming 2021, erm, 2022, what co-op?
Crackdown 3 destructable levels with the power of the cloud
XSX world's most powerful console (oops, legal told me to scrub that)
and a shit load more I'm forgetting.

He lies more than Todd and Molyneux combined. At least those two had some vision and created something. Downy spencer is just a big fat fuck with an autistic grin and t-rex arms.

Not that Sony's doing anything worthwhile without a single game to themselves and forgoing Japanese perversion for American Progressivism; but who would've thought Microsoft and the commanding lead they got in the 360 era, especially with the explosion of Call of Duty, would be reduced to this. It took the PS3 most of its life cycle to get to a decent standing place, all they had to do was "don't copy Microsoft" for the lead up of the PS4 and XB1, and now we're here... Microsoft owns everything but won't use it.

As for installing games while you play, this is a real story, and hard to believe how perfectly timed it was, and honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was setup to be like this. So I rent Arkham City from GameStop, take it home, pop it in, and let it run for like 15 minutes or so before booting up the game because I got the notification that important files are installed and I can now play it. So I start playing, I get to the chemical plant, and the cutscene starts where Joker holds a gun to Batman's head and pulls the trigger... and then I get a screen saying I need to wait longer for more of the game to be installed to continue playing. And I bring this up, because we technically already have this function, but even if every file is downloaded, you often need to exit and restart the game/application for those final files to get moved into place for it to be complete (and to allow online functionality, games won't go online with partial installs). So, I'm calling your bullshit Microsoft, I don't think you have a way to get around the way it currently is.

A console without a disk-reader is the tech equivalent of a tranny.
Apologize to PSP GO, Nigger.
When have discs been affordable in the last decade plus?
Any used game shop. Xbox and Xbox 360 titles are currently in the Five dollar range, and you don't have to worry about DLC clawback like Ubisoft on PC.

I should buy a psp go. I've got a 1000, dead 2000, and a 3000, but the go was tiny.

I do not consider a mere few english-speaking Internet autists to be remotely the meat of Nintendo's userbase, when I see plenty of people IRL of all ages and status (boys & girls, men & women, parents, old folks) playing with a Switch these days. Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Bayonetta, Xenoblade, Metroid, Splatoon, Astral Chain, Famicom Detective, Part-Time UFO, etc. Nintendo has a big array of games which aim for different audiences while still accessible to everyone else for the most part, and they can stand the test of time.

The problem I'm noticing with Playstation/Xbox, and modern western games at large, is that they treat vidya as a social status, a spectacle for "mature audiences", and are afraid to be treated as actual games in a traditional sense. Add various other issues such as development delays, mediocre AAA quality, globohomo propaganda, ugliness of characters, etc and it's just a big mess.

Nintendo has also the advantage to be a (and the sole) japanese console maker, thus reflecting culturally-wise on their own first-party offerings, in terms of gameplay and visuals/artstyle. Hell, it is the sole company I can trust to greenlit japanese third-parties on the Switch platform without any fuss whereas all the other big alternatives are american (Playstation, Xbox and Steam).

>ask why would microsoft possibly think they can get away with buying nintendo
>get told its because they stole Rare from under nintendo who was the gamefreak/hal lab of their time and got away scott free
>hurr durr y u mention Rare?????
Dumb nigger
nowhere did you say that in any way shape or form.
heres exactly what you said:
Did you forget they bought Rare who was pretty much the only dirty gaijin studio nintendo tolerated
how the fuck does that translate into being able to purchase quite possibly the biggest Japanese game devloper?
ah yes, buying a small british conpany that defined a generation is equal to thinking that you could buy a massive Japanese company.
the only dumb nigger here is you, and from your incredibly low intelligence, i can only assume you are the reddest lipped nigger with skin so black that it makes black holes envious with the amount of light it absorbs.
and if you didnt understand all that, ill dumb it down for you.
you stupid.

With the 4K players I've noticed, a lot have ditched it ( probably because Poos can't code for shit)
Imagine owning the rights to Banjo-Kazooie and doing literally fuck all with it…. Then moaning that you have no exclusives to release.
Always been a problem I had. You have all these franchises sitting there but do nothing! And you wonder why I picked up a Switch.
That is exactly my point. They made a ton of bad decisions but somehow could make a good one every now and then to keep them treading water. Now they're just doubling down on their prior incompetence to the point where a retard choosing things at random would be more likely to make a smarter choice than them.
I'll admit, I only bought a Xbox as a kid for Halo. And it was great. Backwards compatibility kept me coming back, but their constant fuckups are tiring.

Kind of crazy the only thing saving the Xbox lineup from being pretty much nonexistent is Bethesda. Reading this and all the companies they what to buy, really shows Xbox is not capable of organic growth, they even suck at licensing out ips to other devs see that god-awful Battletoads reboot.

On digital-only consoles, I was fine with how Sony did it with the PS5, but killing a model with a disc drive all together is just bullshit.

Mean in terms of getting games out, Sony isn't much better with what two or three big games a year, all of which last year was cross-gen, and if you didn't care for those games well you were fucked. But 16 months without a game is a management fuck up on a huge scale.

No idea why these companies especially with subscription services don't invest money into small mid-budget games they outright own than paying those gamepass fees listed.

I can't believe a leak this big is this fucking boring, how the fuck are Sony and Xbox spending billions on acquisitions and still barely churning out the occasional half baked slop?

People aren't buying Nintendo products because they are well made (they tend to be average at best), they buy them because they are <BRAND> and a child friendly one. Since most of the adults have consumed a Nintendo product throughout his life. A company trying to compete Nintendo in that market is pretty much doomed to fail as it's basically competing against a monopoly who goes entirely on brand recognition rather than quality, and children would probably prefer to play any psychologically addictive games on their smartphone than an actual game for console.

You are right that the best Sony and MS can do is make their exclusives more regularly, but the exclusives need to be larger than life to attract people, as the companies' online shops are filled with small company shit that might be good and might be exclusive, but it isn't something that people care about because people are attracted to big graphic names. It's the usual case of gamers being shitty consumers.

Also it doesn't help that any game being exclusive to a non-Nintendo product draws a massive spergout from people, or that modern game creation makes not working multiplatform (at least Sony/PC) a pointless economic loss unless you can convince Sony/MS to pay you back the projected loss.

One of the first game announced for the Switch was SMT V. Nintendo has been gradually shedding the kid friendly image for a while, and marketing itself for all ages.

It's not the quantity of the lies. It's the quality. To get on Molyneux's level you have promise shit like unscripted, procedurally generated AI feedback, a character that reacts to your choices as you make them in real time. Any replaceable executive can promise X- amount of units sold by Z- date etc.

The funny part is this is all within reach now. ...and there'll be backlash against it that'll be couched as 'muh AI' but really it'll be because 'tistic game players will be confronted with interactions they can't rote memorize and always win, anymore. You'll have to pick up on cues and decode a complex system interpreting your action -just like the real life they can't handle.
