Back in the day Microsoft and Sony sold at a loss but recouped their shit through software sales. Now that MS has no software to sell they pivot to expensive hardware? Lol, niggers

Maybe it's like the communism thing where they go "3DO just weren't doing selling hardware at a cost the right way, it'll go differently this time."Back in the day Microsoft and Sony sold at a loss but recouped their shit through software sales. Feels really unintentionalThe only real question about the death of Xbox is whether it’s intentional so Microsoft can leave the console business, and try to be profitable as a third party, or if they really are that incompetent and genuinely can’t see why they are tanking Xbox.
Judging by today's excellent reviews, it appears Obsidian is back in form with Outer Worlds 2. Grounded 2 is also looking good. They massively pushed "Outer Worlds" (and are massively pushing Outer Worlds 2), Bethesda shit out Fallout 76 and Starfield, Obsidian is just making mid hobby games,
It's not just failure to execute, but apparently MS making studios that could at one time deliver a product, incapable of doing so anymore. It's the kind of "failure to execute" that will be put into business textbooks in the next ~10 years, completely wild.

It's not the IP it's the skill of the people.Feels really unintentional
It was a pretty solid plan - make up for the console/library deficit from last generation by investing a huge amount of capital into a gigantic number of studios in order to massively expand the library and footprint of the xbox in a way that would drastically outpace their competition. They have a gigantic collection of what previously would be considered some of the greatest studios in the world and probably control 50+ of the most valuable IPs to ever exist in the videogaming space.
However - they simply cannot execute and have no idea on what quality is. They massively pushed "Outer Worlds" (and are massively pushing Outer Worlds 2), Bethesda shit out Fallout 76 and Starfield, Obsidian is just making mid hobby games, Blizzard is a black hole of creativity and fun, Redfall was complete garbage and so on. They have so many studios and had so many chances to succeed and just simply could not - they had studios that haven't even produced a game, even a bad one, in a decade. It's the kind of "failure to execute" that will be put into business textbooks in the next ~10 years, completely wild.
This is very likely the CEO/Board/Shareholders indicating they're sick of Phil coming in every year going "We're investing really hard to have the Xbox generate a huge Return on Investment eventually" and have decided they want to start seeing returns and profits now. I cannot believe Phil Spencer/Sarah Bond and any other high level Xbox executives still have jobs right now
Well you still had the cost of Internet access and your time spent.I pirated ow1 and still felt ripped off
It's beyond the skill of the people. It's not the IP it's the skill of the people.
Classic case of when the MBAs take over but don't understand why a company makes money. So, they basically drive it to the ground as all they know is analyze spreadsheet and lie. It's beyond the skill of the people.
They've got 40 fully fledged studios and have most of them for a decade or longer. The fact they've got zero "system seller" games out of it defies all logic.
Xbox headquarters may as well be built on top of ancient cursed Indian burial grounds at this rate.
They do not hate the XBox, they hate what it represents: Their arrogance and the failures it spawned. It is one thing we know now, no one hates Xbox more than Microsoft.
even worse: its microsoft not understanding the concept of exclusive titles because they want that sick growth and expanding to other consoles for more moneyThey do not hate the XBox, they hate what it represents: Their arrogance and the failures it spawned.
That is its most recent failure. Honesty, I think they look upon the XBox brand and silently apologize to it. The oldheads anyway. It could have been great. They had the money, the engineers and the talent. Only thing that was missing was how to distinguish the XBox from the PS and Nintendo. They made PS but with less games, then Wii but worse and then they returned to a lesser PS. The XBox brand could have won if only they understood what to do with it. So mismanaged.even worse: its microsoft not understanding the concept of exclusive titles because they want that sick growth and expanding to other consoles for more money

Oh joy, how lucky of them. They must feel very fortunate. It'll be extra funny if Xbox players eventually get a Norse God of War Collection and The Last of Us Collection as well.
There's an even worse example of their cloud based network, that also happens on other systems, where you play a game in offline mode and it saves your progress locally. Then when your internet is restored or you reconnect to their cloud network all of your local files are updated to the cloud versions. Despite the fact that the local files are the more recent ones. There's currently an cloud-based outage related to Xbox One achievements not unlocking. From 2013 to 2017, MS mandated that developers would have achievements trigger through verifying requirements through the cloud rather than locally adding code to unlock achievements through fulfilled requirements.
Yet another one of MS's big-brained examples to never own anything from their services.
