I admit I only recently played the original (with the Plus patch) and I really had a blast playing it (if anyone is interested, my first playthrough was male Toreador with a love for bladed weapons). But Im seriously concerned that the sequel is going to go woke, because writers nowadays cant write something free from PC bullshit even if their lives depend on it.
Honestly, the world of darkness games could become awesome video games when the themes and lore is kept mostly intact. There is no "good" vampire, you are a monster from the get go, the best you can do is cling to some degree of humanity so you dont become a mindless killing machine, being human becomes a necessity rather than a choice in a certain way. You are a monster but you cant go full out monstrous (tho I do admit that the game should give you the option to play as the Sabbat, which the sequel wont seem to doing aparently...)

Honestly, it will just break my heart to see it going woke, because truly, in the end, it wont pay off and people will still prefer the, let me remind you, TECNICALLY INCOMPLETE EARYL 2000's GAME over the new one.

He was the shit and was so well made a character he was put into the canonical games lore, same with Serena who survived the events of the first half of the game and came out of hiding during the Family Reunion.

See, now this is something I can actually get behind. Remember what a bug riddled mess Skyrim was on release? Yeah, another year definitely would have helped unfuck that game. But Bethesda had already decided on a release date becase 11-11-11 looked SOOOOOO cool and to hell with the pleb programmers telling us not to rush this! We got Christmas sales to secure!
I'd rather wait a year for a complete game free of as many bugs as they can squash than get a game riddled with gamebreaking glitches that take upwards to 6 months of updates to patch out.

It's so common in schizophrenia that "word salad" is actually a fairly common jargon word used by psychologists, and psychiatrists.

Pretty predictable, i'm blackpilled on this one anyway.
Supposedly the most recent tabletop VtM 5th edition is filled with woke shit like trigger warnings and such and that's what they're basing VtMB2 on.
The woke comments by devs don't seem so strange in retrospect. Idk maybe asking for consent before drinking pedestrians will be at least funny.

Also i didnt see it posted here so...
No gameplay but this one is made by the people who also did The Council (episodic telltale RPG).
I'm getting the vibes that whatever this is about it will happen entirely in a vampire infested skyscraper, and that sounds cool.

Got to look on the bright side of things.

IRL Seattle will be much more 'gothic-punk' by 2021, which will give the developers a better feel for crafting a genuine World of Darkness, where malaise, despair, and brutality are the norms, not the exceptions.

Hardsuit/Paradox should just go ahead, pinch off this log of a game, die a painful death like all other VtM developers (Nihilistic, Troika), and leave it to the fans to make the game playable through patches and mods.

Not to mention, last news I remember about the game's release date was that it was also in an alpha state. Granted that was a few months ago but that sort of thing didn't really give me high hopes for the game. Hopefully, this really does give them time to at least fix some bugs.

Wait, if hes the main writer then at this point hes job should be more or less done. i mean he might not be polishing up dialogue and sidequests but this late in production the main story has to be written already.
Don't get me wrong, i think this is a bad omen at best but unless they actually removed his contributions to the narrative then for us nothing changes.

Edit: After reading his statement this seems much worse than what i initially thought, they're probably removing his stuff.

We got a statement:

“Until recently, I was the Narrative Lead on a videogame called Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 for Hardsuit Labs, Inc being published by Paradox Interactive (which owns 30% of Hardsuit Labs). After almost five years involvement with the studio, I was suddenly terminated on 7/16/20.
That this came as a shock to me is underselling it. I’ve worked on Bloodlines 2 for almost five years. The story and main cast was initially conceived in my living room. I helped develop the pitch for Hardsuit Labs and helped pitch the project to Paradox in Las Vegas. I’ve been in charge of the narrative since the beginning, working long days and sometimes weekends to deliver a successor to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and I’ve never been led to believe that I hadn’t succeeded. Very obviously, I have also been involved in the PR and marketing side of things, even though it was one of the most difficult parts for me. I’m a pretty private person – press and crowds tend to heavily trigger my social anxiety (which, if you’ve ever wondered about the gloves, they are “armor” that make me feel less exposed in situations that trigger my anxiety).
Bloodlines and the fandom of the game mean the world to me. So I lent my legacy with the franchise, my name, and my participation in marketing efforts for the game, even when it was intensely difficult and took a mental and physical toll. This is all because I wanted to do what was best for the game and the team.
The pride in the work, the fan expectations, and the support from co-workers who started out as fans kept me going through this long five years. And I’m incredibly disappointed and frustrated to say that this is where it ends for me on the project.
I was not part of the conversations that led to the decision to delay production, and to my knowledge, there were no delays caused by the Bloodlines 2 narrative development. I am confident and proud of the work that I and my team put forward. When that work will be seen and what form it will take is unknown to me.
It was a pleasure to work on this game and with many people at Hardsuit Labs and Paradox and I’m sorry I won’t be able to see it to the end. I spent years on some of the best characters and dialogue that I ever wrote. It’s meant a lot to hear from the Bloodlines community and I do hope that what’s finally delivered is as satisfying as I intended it to be. Thanks to all of you who supported me throughout the project.”
