Has anyone bothered to release a de-wokify mod for 2, or would there be nothing left?
Honestly it wouldn't be that hard to do or take that long. The main issue with the game isn't the story or the paper thin woke elements. It's the lack of combat/quest variety.

The story is decent, it's just not vampire the masquerade tier. Its a side story "masquerading" as something bigger

I know this is barely even a VTM game and really just a Sony cinematic game wearing its skin but it still makes me kek that an elder vampire can be hurt by ordinary human police officers with guns.

Elders are basically Gods.

I mean the explanation is you've been drained of your power magically and have to get it back but yeah.

Sure, but if they want you to be weak why don't they have you play as a newborn?

That would even make more sense for the plot with the whole fish out of water thing.

Not as sexy and I'm guessing they wanted to avoid feelings "contrived" because newborns can't easily gain power unless someone gives it. I dunno, that was the plot in the old thin blood version before they scrapped It

In general, the trope of the PC being a conveniently powered down uberthreat is just as contrived as playing a character too weak to reasonably face the challenges the game sets forth. It's going to bite TW4 in the ass as well.

Well, we know Troika Games done with Bloodlines 1 with that in mind.
Being a fledging at the start, not a newborn line those kiddies at the beach; is a better idea.

whats so hard about doing vampire games
1.- some faggy dude who bang everything that moves
2.- some unholy abomination from hell who wants to kill everyone
3.- add some BIG ASS TITTIIIIIIIIIIIES

boom there is your game. devs are fucking retarded

It still sucks we haven't gotten a proper sequel or spiritual successor to bloodlines in two decades. Like the setting, gameplay mechanics, and artsyle be so amazing if it wasn't so squandered.

hasn't been any modern vampire game in a while with rpg mechanics and clever writing that made the world feel real.

A big thing that really hurts this game was the idiot devs overcommitted on the not-Johnny Silverhand detective, like to the point you play that guy longer than your boring and preestablished elder with almost no personality because of that over commitment.

It's rather fascinating to see how three different companies and a production studio collectively picked the shittiest options through the game's creation process.

Thematically and within the system, that was never true. The whole point of the Camarilla is that enough peasants with pitchfork and torches can turn Adramalech the Puissant into Adramalech the Grit in the Wind. The winning move is to throw all your childer at the peasants while making your escape for a century or two, but if the peasants are ever actually in a direct confrontation the peasants aren't that long of a shot. Moving on to guns in the modern day the same general principle still applies.

And in the system, it all depends on the Elder and how they arranged their Disciplines as much as anything. Pretty much every clan has something, especially at 6+ level Disciplines, that's going to be good for getting them out of a tough spot. But some are more reliable than others; Celerity is good for running away but it won't phase through walls, Mist Form is still vulnerable to fire, Fortitude is a bigger wall but still one that can be chipped down, etc. Once you're talking about Methuselahs then it becomes a problem for an Army, proper noun, to handle but Elders are not completely unstoppable.

Nah. Like the stats on tanks and modern technology is pretty crazy. Antidelivuans is when it takes an army. I cant think of any 4th gen or above shown to be able to fight a whole army. Their power level is presented at werewolf pack tier.

This is also the World of Darkness with all kinds of other magic bullshit. Mages, Demons, Spirits, and even weirder shit is out there. There is always a bigger fish who can oppress and crush you. Even Caine and Lucifer have things that can stomp them like Angels or God getting pissed off.

I've been a fan of VtM for years now, and what pisses me off about "Bloodlines" 2 is the simple fact they screwed up what was supposed to be the easiest slam dunk ever.
Anyone with two braincells to rub together is aware that the fandom loves the retrojank look of the original, there was absolutely no reason for this "triple A polished unity ass" shit.
As for the story, they managed to mangle such a wonderful setting, it baffles me. Bloodlines is a very fresh take when compared to D&D and such, it would be so easy to make any sort of story absolutely fascinating if it had good writers. Hell, even Redemption has some diehard fans, and even the *text-only* games had some degree of success (even though I am not particularly fond of them).

Sperg over. tl;dr I am still pissed about this whole disaster ever since they fired Mitsoda.

Sir, would Bloodrayne interest you?

i kind of hope some fans make a spiritual successor that's legally distinct of bloodlines so it has a better chance of releasing and not being cursed with handling of the bloodlines IP.

At this point I accept a knockoff bloodlines game, so we at least get something new that doesn't squander the idea like bloodlines 2 did.

I had a lot of fun with Redemption, honestly. It could do with a proper remake. I think someone is trying to remake it as a fucking Skyrim mod or something.

Bloodlines is a genuinely cursed IP.

It's on the Source engine, but a pre-release version that Troika had to modify extensively, so it's not compatible with other Source engine games, making porting basically impossible, and modding beyond cumbersome, on top of the not having access to established modding tools.

And then, even if you wanted to move the game over to a proper version of Source, back when there was enough interest for such a project, the vermin over at Activision put a stop to it.

We basically missed out on getting Bloodlines 1 moved over to the proper Source engine, and the wealth of modding and fanmade content that would have unlocked.

Instead, we're stuck with the turd Paradox gifted us. I genuinely hope Russia nukes Sweden out of existence, they are a genuinely cursed people.

Some people were remaking Bloodlines in Skyrim but pivoted it to a "reimagining" after presumably getting brake checked by Paradox. Now it's a prequel/sequel/something else. I'd be surprised if it ever comes out.

ETA: I was incorrect. 1) yeah this is/was Redemption and not Bloodlines and 2) it wasn't Paradox but Activision that clocked them, hence the removal of "Redemption" and anything related to Activision owned material.
