Just finished playing Bloodlines 1 for the first time. I enjoyed it immensely despite all of the jank, but man, what a wet fart of an ending.
There's a ton of buildup around the sarcophagus, Antediluvians, and the destruction of vampire society, only for it all to be le epic troll by Jack. I'm sure it's supposed to symbolize how conflict between Kindred is ultimately petty and meaningless or something, but it kind of sapped my motivation to do a second playthrough as Tremere (I chose Toreador for maximum exposition dumping).

A lot of interesting lore tidbits also ended up going nowhere, like the Giovanni family or the flesh-eater Pisha, though I suppose it's difficult to incorporate such a rich universe into one small game. Also. Mercurio is a total bro, and Ming Xiao is a duplicitous whore.

Anyways, consider me hooked. What should I look into for more Vampire content? I've never really dabbled in tabletop games, and I hear Bloodlines 2 is a massive disappointment.

I guess you have the text games and redemption but that's it really. This IP is cursed.

As for non VTM/WOD stuff vampyr is a solid alright/10.

There's the game that came out before Bloodlines called VtM Redemption which plays completely differently it's more of a Dragon Age Origins style strategy combat but hey they eventually added the characters Cristof and Serena as canon to the WoD so they got that going for them.

Bloodlines is the only good vampire game i can think of sadly.
There's the Legacy of Kain / Blood Omen games, though you only really play a vampire in the first game, while the rest is spent in the shoes of a former vampire, now turned soul reaver.

That being said, much of the focus of the early games is vampires, vampire society and the world they helped usher in.

It's not likely to scratch anyone's Bloodlines itch, but I like to shill the series any chance I get, since it has some stellar writing and voice acting. Gameplay is, well, a lot more hit and miss.

But yeah, not much else out there. There are games where you do play a vampire (like some Castlevanias or Bloodrayne), but they don't have much in the way of mechanics to make you feel like one, beyond the feeding.

Yeah, but Rayne has certain... assets to her that you don't often find these days.

Play as a Malkavian or install the Clan Quest Mod and play as a Malkavian anyway.

Eh. Pretty much get into the ttrpg there. There's a ton of editions but Vampire the Masquerade 20th anniversary edition (V20) is the best starting point and matches bloodlines to like 90%.. Whatever game master you end up with will probably be bad but learn from them and then run your own games.

For video games put Bloodlines away for a few years then replay it.

Bloodlines was the mad feverdream of Troika. The company literally killed itself over it, went bankrupt. In return they managed to do the impossible and capture the spark of the rpg in digital format. That kind of reckless dedication isn't something you can just replicate.

I guess there are the yt let's plays for passive entertainment. They are V5 though so not like Bloodlines and have moderate amounts of wokeshit due to being over a decade later.. But Jason Carl is pretty good as a gamemaster and the groups are ok. Let me see.

I gave up after a few episodes there's just to many of them but they are a decent way to see how the game looks like on the tabletop.

I saw people posting about the raptor before I played Bloodlines but I never had the context until it happened to me. Spooked me more than the entire Ocean House.
Yeah, I think I saw that on 4chan a couple of times back in the day. That game is so fucking funny. My friend and I used to quote the bald black guy talking about Caine and how his story is "some heavy shit".
