I was going to write a more detailed review of TR Anniversary after just beating the whole thing on hard, but the game didn't give me the achievement for doing it, so fuck it I'm done.
If you're playing it on the 360, there's some annoying glitch. It's very disappointing that you've given up, I was looking forward to your review, honestly. Have you tried on PC (like say, on Steam)?

Well, release date for the new game has been revealed. It's now scheduled to be released this Valentine's Day 2023 (and also the same day as Lara Croft's birthday).
Why not just make Lara Croft GO 2. Not this shovelware clone bullshit, nobody likes it.

Because Amazon is desperate for some sales.
The 2010's trilogy killed my interest in new Tomb Raider games
That's because Squeenix fucked it all up. It was never considered an actual Tomb Raider until they redid a rejected game and rebrand it as such a Tomb Raider IP. It's like how Sony/Tristar bought the Godzilla rights just to get the American remake movie and by 1998, Roland Emmerich (fresh off of Universal Soldier, Stargate and Independence Day) made a generic movie fast track into production for a Summer release and called it as such. And we all know how that turned out.

After finishing the first game, I moved onto the 2 with tr2main and frankly, not a fan. The human enemies just don't work for the game, and the lack of tombs until the latter half makes it feel off to me. Puzzles are still good to great, but the enemies just ruin the flow to me. I'll finish it eventually I'm sure, but for a break from the formula, I switched to TR2013.

Holy shit, 2013 is the definition of bland. It's not even that it's aping other games, it's just poorly done. I can't fathom how they were able to make a mystical storm island off the coast of Japan look so fucking boring. Whose idea was that? Who thought that having a giant town of metal sheeting be half the game was a good idea? The first bits aren't terrible, when you're in the forests and actually seeing some things that resemble "tombs", but the latter half of the game is trash.

The enemies don't move logically at all. I get that they want to make them harder to hit and not stand there like statues, but the way they twitch around is insanely unnatural and still doesn't make them difficult to hit. Almost every enemy could be headshot without them popping out because their heads stick over the tops of almost every wall. There isn't a single challenging fight in the whole game, and that's honestly a blessing because it's so bland that it's not worth playing.

I skipped every cutscene, there was no way in hell I was going to watch 7.5 hours of them. That's more than the gameplay runtime.

Now for the part that people might not agree with. I jumped into Rise immediately after, turned it to the highest difficulty, turned off all the magic Batman sense shit, and this game is about what I would imagine a modern version of the first game should be. It's not all tombs, which honestly would be the best way to approach these games, but it's atmospheric, actually has real fucking puzzles, and Lara doesn't IMMEDIATELY tell you how to solve every puzzle while talking to herself. I know the first one is generic trash, but if you haven't tried Rise, at least give it a chance. My expectations were very low, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.

My only niggles are that even with hints turned off, it still decides randomly to remind you how to climb walls after you've climbed walls 50+ times. It'll randomly tell you to upgrade weapons at camps despite being 30% into the game. It's odd, but it's minor.

More updates on the Tomb Raider anime. It's still a thing apparently.
Tomb Raider: Netflix and Legendary Entertainment are working together on the new ‘Tomb Raider’ animation series. The project is written by Tasha Huo, who is known for writing ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin.’ Popular firm DJ2, which specializes in animation films and shows, will also work on this project. The publisher of the ‘Tomb Raider’ video game was Square Enix.

So i guess we can expect Lara to be a nigger in this version then?

That anime is dead before arrival
Despite earning a second season before the show's initial release, I won't be surprised that it will get cancelled before it even goes to air. Sure, they may have gotten Hayley Atwell to voice Lara Croft (which could've been the perfect fit for the nuboot instead that fanfic-esque Vikander bullshit), but at what cost at this rate? They'll retool it as Amazon's live-action series and movie which will both be even shittier. Hell, they'll cast a black trans to play as Lara Croft while they're at it.

man now I kinda want to go and dig out my old copy of the game and play it again. It's such a good game.

Which version of Lara Croft do you guys consider the best or your favorite? Classic timeline, Legend era, Survivor (ha), Top Cow, Jolie, the one from the cartoon, or Vikander (lol)? Or one of the others I’m probably forgetting.

LAU era and the Jolie duology (even if Jolie has been losing her looks and her mind over the years) are easily my favorites, but I do say the vintage 90s-early 2000s Croft is the best. Both survivor and Vikander are easily the worst ones, bar none.
