When superhero movies are popular, the complaint is how the female characters are all poor stereotypes and shouldn't be watched. When the movies become unpopular, the narrative switches to how the fact nobody is watching is clearly because of misogyny, the men are all staying home because a super-powered woman upsets them and their world-view. The argument is not consistent, not concrete, based on feelings and infinitely malleable so that the narrative remains "women are done wrong in fiction, yet again" regardless of circumstance.
