Did I miss the "Jax is a bad person/he deserves to be stuck in the circus/Goose enjoys art of him being tortured" moment at some point or has that still not happened yet?

This pacing is absolute dogshit
Also what was the point of her bothering to summon the exit door instead of JUST SUMMONING A COMPUTER
She doesn’t know how the power works or is talented enough to use it.

But she remembers how the Exit Door showed up in the first place and essentially just recreated how she felt at the time.

Assuming no left fields in the finale, the much-anticipated "worst thing Jax has ever done" was likely just pushing the red button at the end of episode 7. Depriving everybody of freedom because he didnt want to confront whatever he had going on in the real world.

At this point I would just take background info as a grain of salt considering last ep claimed Kaufmo was Kinger co-worker but if it's true it would create a galaxy size plothole about how some abandoned office building would go almost an entire decade untouched and nobody would try to sell some ancient VR glass on eBay by now.
Where was that claim? I don't remember that being mentioned last episode.

Though alternatively, I'd say the original use of the Circus was to help people out who were at the precipice of death, likely used as medical equipment to people who may otherwise be terminal. We know Scratch has the brain tumour, but this extends further with at least Ragatha and Gangle. Both are depicted suffering serious worldly injuries, with Ragatha getting stabbed in the eye by her mother and Gangle being hit by a truck (intentionally or otherwise). My guess is eventually that equipment got shut down and abandoned, only to be found later on by urban explorers/people hiding. We know Pomni and Zooble both did urban exploration and it's likely they stumbled upon a headset in their journeys, but Jax is a tricky one to get specific on.

We know before he got to the circus, a serious incident involving him driving a car late at night happened. My theory is he got into a serious car crash, ended up in hospital, was given the headset, and got stuck in the circus; we know he was present before Gangle, which gives more credence to the idea he also received it medically. This whole theory is tied together by the fact that when Ragatha arrived, she was with a group of people and yet we don't see any of them come through. That ties in with the SOMA theory too, making me think that the Digital Circus was meant as a medical tool to help dying/terminal patients by saving their minds to the engine and giving them a transferred consciousness, meant to keep their brains stimulated with adventures and activities but inevitably coming to failure and ruin.

But that's Just a Theory

So we basically have soma / am. Somam?

I did like the episode. its one of those ones where sticking the landing isnt possible as its been a bit of a ramshackle production but hopefully it doesnt shit the bed

Yeah everybody know it is just Caine messing around, but considering Kinger part was true, some deep lore analyzer would fall for it.

If that's it I called it. Especially with Zooble bitching about it in the beginning despite it all being an obvious fake-out Jax predicted, and as Gangle says, Jax was right. For all we know "Shrimp town" could've been the void, or something worse. Although, Zooble does notably say "you too" towards Jax, implying she somewhat forgives him.
I'm thinking his real BIG ZOMG UNFORGIVABLE MOMENT will be him taking over the circus in place of Caine, but I really don't want that to happen because I think we've seen him grow beyond just fucking with people and it would suck if he just reverted back for no reason

Ah, I see

I'm taking the Caine adventure theory as unreliable since Caine's an unreliable narrator to C&A. He's known to lie about it for his own benefit, so unless it's backed up by someone else i.e. Kinger, Jax etc. I wouldn't say it as true

>Caine is evil because he wants humans to love him. But humans always reject his affections.
>He is AM if he didn’t hate humans.
If this was .Hack sign. Caine would be a rapist.

The implication is that Caine started using his powers to block Kinger's attempt to hack into his system with all the pop ups. I'd guess the intent for him not just immediately grabbing him was moreso a heat of the moment decision out of anger to attack the rest of the cast mocking him (which is still kinda bullshit with how much power Caine is shown to possess).

Fun detail where some of the text is pretty directly speaking to Kinger.
"WHOA when did you make THAT?"
"I must hand it to you G_an_, your mind was always resourceful."

>host os looks vaguely windows98-y
>uses cmd, the windows command line
>lots of custom scripts and tooling involved
>kinger runs systemctl, a systemd (linux init) command
>uses grep to find "ai-location" and it actually works geg
>caine and bubble are written in common lisp
>user files and graphical(?) paraphernalia engine are generic .dat files
>kinger tries to use gdb (GNU General Debugger) on the Common Lisp Interpreter via "/usr/bin/gdb /usr/local/bin/clisp 1337"
>kinger tries to chmod 000 to purge all user permissions from caine-core.lisp
>then tries to delete the environment/graphics/rendering(?) engine
>prints an error indicating that manual "torment injection" is not possible, and has to be "100% accidental"
>kinger writes a daemon to do it instead
>fails
>tries to initiate a rollback
>system "interprets" this as initiating deletion of faulty current AI
>kinger tries to do torment_injection again by running a script called ./Switcheroo_reality(?)
>accidentally says Y to "Do you want to delete caine?" prompt
>runs ./abort rollback --depth=1 --force --protocol G WVJ
>then ^C to cancel
>fails

Love seeing vaguely somewhat kinda sorta accurate Lin/dows in media. Also GG to Goose for managing to sneak in computer vore this time around, into the first minute of the episode, no less. Well played.

Definitely. My guess is
Bubble is the vestige of Abel still inside Caine, hence why Bubble's frequently an anomaly and goes against Caine's wishes. Bubble's not just a complex character AI, but a powerful AI within itself. The appearance and character's also symbolic of Bubble's greatest struggles, literally being trapped in a bubble while Caine's forced to play ringmaster. The idea that the characters' bodies are meant to be perfect reflections of their minds could very well apply to the AIs themselves.
If that's true, that could mean Bubble (aka Able) is free now, assuming he didn't get deleted with Caine due to the program seeing them as one entity. I place my bets upon SOMA theory being true and that Bubble will help restore the simulation where the characters will live out the rest of their digital, "stagnant" lives. For a while I thought Jax, being the closest analogue to Ted in I Have No Mouth, would get a redemption arc where he sacrifices his own freedom to help everyone escape, leaving him to be punished by Caine for all eternity for depriving him of humans to "entertain".

Still find it hard to believe that it took Pomni coming along to figure out that Kinger is sane in the dark, especially when Ragatha has been there longer than any of the others. Ragatha arrived in 2008, and iirc the story takes place around 2017-18. You telling me NOBODY figured it out between then and now? That they were never placed into any circumstances that led to that realisation like with Pomni and Kinger in the haunted house?

Also
"I AM... GOD!"
"Don't need to scream if you ain't got a mouth"
Very subtle, Goose.

Ya, that was fine! Idk, see, I think Caine being evil was cool it's just that the reason he became evil was dumb imo. As Zooble said, he started torturing them just cause they hurt his feelings, which is kinda silly and unintimidating. I think the song has to grow on me, I'm excited for the next episode nonetheless. (Or was that the last one?)

The best thing about the episode was the Ragatha scene, AMAZING portrayal of emotional parental abuse. Every verbal attack from the parent is a knife stabbing into you, eventually you get numb to it despite it hurting all the same, as we see Ragatha no longer flinching.
