I assume it was probably removed because they don't want other people adding in hidden shit in their cosmetics as well if that wasn't removed. It's what I would do as well.

A commie symbol on a shotgun that only the Heavy can wield makes sense given his character is Russian, and it's a joke, nothing more.
Hiding tranny symbols on a cosmetic that the engineer can use (who is very much NOT a tranny) makes no sense and was only sneaky addition because these people have to force their gay shit in EVERYTHING they infest. It was not a joke.

These things are not the same.

also in the story Heavy is actually anti-communist, i forget if its for any actual ideological reasons i think its more because they fucked with his family but still iirc his family routinely kill dozens of commies that try and seek them out. so itd be like complaining polish protag in wolfenstein uses a mauser or a weapon he got from pummeling a german to death to escape the castle.

Valve removed it not cuz they are based, but because they didn’t want to start a Where’s Waldo flag hunt war on every single submission. Especially when the opposite side might try starting hiding confederate flags and stuff
