My dice love me...Probably because they know that if they don't roll well they go into the Bin of Discard where randoms can use them.

My dice generally don't like me when I'm playing.

Nowadays I mostly GM. I'm sort of weird in that I kind of enjoy being the GM more now than I do being a player.

Though I do like being a player in other people's games as well.

I remember the first time I used my current set of dice I rolled four 18's a 17 and a 16. That was a good day. GM decided to "lose" that character sheet though.

Which is better? Old World of Darkness or New?
I like the new one's Changeling and Hunter (slashers is also interesting). Some stuff was too steamlined and Beast the Primordial should just be called, Otherkin: The Assholes.

Maybe its because I'm more used to OldWoD, but I liked the different cultural and religious roots stuff like Werewolf and Mage had.

How does Vampire fare in New?

So Nu white wolf has cancelled their big Tampa by night mega larp event. Rumor has it that by night Studios (maker of said larp) didn't check out the club scene in Tampa enough and just recently found out its got a serious neo Nazi / white supremacist element.

Update: Done a little bit bit more digging and it turns out there is (was? Not sure) a go go dancer with a Nazi outfit and a click of folks who would wear uniforms and the like (mixed stories on them either being the real deal or just fetishes). The club as amended there policy on outfits but by night still pulled the plug.

Probably a fetish. Sounds like the sort of place. I really hate what has become of White Wolf products.

I haven't had much experience with them. Most of my experience comes from the steam games. The older games (Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption - a hack and slash Diablo clone) and Vampire the Masqurade: Bloodlines (a very glitchy but good RPG) are interesting. However the recently released steam games ,World of Darkness Preludes: Vampire and Mage, are simple visual novels with little decision making to them. What little choices given to the player on binary; you live or die. Since there is so little 'gameplay' (if it can even be called that) it relies almost entirely on its writing which is terrible!
The Mage one is a story about a woman who is working at Nordic Aid. The PC is helping refugees out.... at first I tried to brush it off. I tried not to think of this a virtue signaling but, as being modern and topical. It actually gets worse.

Apparently the Vampire one has some "ancient thin bloods" . I don't know too much about VtM but, aren't thin bloods suppose to be a more "modern" (as in 14th, 15th generation vampire) thing?

I really wanted the modding group that was working on the Vampire The Masquerade game to finish but CCP Games crushed that plan pretty quickly at the time when they bought the rights.

You could get thin bloods if you didn't care how often you sired childe and how often they did. Would explain why in the game they basically vote whether or not you could sire anyone.

Ancient thin bloods could exist as @Anonymus Fluhre said. It would be very, very rare, but it is possible.

Speaking of Sweden as that game mentioned, with all that is happening there, the brief thought of an alliance between the Black Furies (a feministic all-woman tribe) and Get of Fenris (who have strong ancestral ties to the vikings) in the area wouldn't be unlikely. The results would be bloody. The idea just popped in my head.

I understand keeping the players in mind when DMing and not being an asshole (in a bad way), but they just can't be too cautious of killing off a character or dicking around. Maybe it's just me, but I've never gotten so attached to a character that it made me want to quit or fall into despair. I might be bummed for a bit if I really liked them, but it's something else if you treat it like a horrible trauma (besides, sometimes horrible deaths can be fun).

Also in this article of destructive myths, it's bad if the PCs are treated like the great influential stars of the game, because it supports the savior complex; there's not enough of a past or relationships for the PCs, focusing on the exploration factor when you're not thinking of the natives, experiencing adversary is a positive thing and violence being a problem solver.
I tend to get kind of pissy but I do accept deaths just fine. It does help though when the character goes down swinging; like say my wizard right then dies but manages to do something good I'm fine. It's really when they get chumped that miffs me; like where you miss every round (despite not having an ass character) and then get triple critted and out like a bitch.

I really like Prometheans and Hunters for New World, but I think the fluff for Old World is better for the more established lines.

And you technically can get thinbloods somewhat early if you had some reckless jack-ass just embrace and their childe does so for each generation onward at a quick rate. It's really not until I think you hit Victorian times it'd be reasonable to find them though, since the Dark Age setting uses Caitiff as the "End of Times/Line" thing and that's like 8th Gen.

Only time a character of mine has died is when I have a terrible GM who doesn't know how to balance their games. Like one of the last GM's I had for Pathfinder had a group of 9 players level 7-9 (average ECL was 8) go up against eighteen CR 16 giants.

I just bought Shadowrun 5th Edition at my local Barnes & Noble on a whim today. So far it looks good, but I'm not that familiar with Shadowrun so I don't know how it compares to the other editions.

There's a running gag where five bags of dice is just barely enough for the game.

I published my very first gaming book on the Storyteller's vault, Bloodlinebook: Deava. Wish me luck that people like it.
