I decided to get the Starfinder PDF.

It was pretty cheap actually, but I've not gotten round to reading it yet, there's a couple of things I need to do.

Majority of the 3rd party stuff for Starfinder has been pretty terrible so far. Still waiting to check out Rogue Genius Games book though. I've heard some pretty good stuff about it.

Given some rule changes, health and feat changes a lot of science fiction material for Pathfinder will need to be reworked to work with Starfinder.

I really hope someone works on a ship book for the system and add maps for them so people can use Starfinder like Star Wars Saga.

I read Starfinder. If you liked Pathfinder, you'll like Starfinder. If not, then you won't like this one either.

I do like Pathfinder, so I'll definitely give Starfinder a shot then.

I'd totally be up for a SF Kiwi game, I figure kiwi spacebattles would probably end spectacularly.

You just know someone's going to try and fit themselves into a Ysoki cheek pouch.

Frog God Games made a terrible lemur PC race for Starfinder. I expect better from them. Wayward Rogue has a few good books which can be converted to Starfinder easily enough to add at least one interesting race, the Ezzana. They're a more human-like race with three sexes...Just don't play as a mare as you're just a Caterpillar-woman that exists to only give birth. Luckily neither of the other two sexes have to mate with it. It's all done chemically.

The Ezzana were originally created for D20pfsrd Publishing's Starjammer campaign

My Starfarers Companion finally came in and it's not too bad so far. Artwork is your typical 3rd party are, but luckily doesn't seem to be too many reused pieces if any in the book. The use of white space isn't too bad either.

The race section has two new races. One of which enjoys genetically altering their DNA to add traits form other races and then we have a robotic race, no not androids, straight up robots.

Class section is just a conversion of some classes from pathfinder. Any class that get's a 9 level spells see slightly slower spell progression.

Chapter after that is for companions, having rules for technological companions/ mounts. As well as evolution's for them which is handy for the technological companions as they're more or less just a blank slate.

Chapter on feats is pretty good, gives a few feats for the two new races to upgrade abilities or to give them new abilities. Armour Cutter feat seems like it could be pretty powerful as you can move/ attack and if your successful with the attack, throw a grenade inside the hole you ripped open. Can only be done to objects, vehicles and spaceships though (thank god).

Some of the new spells in the books aren't too bad. Majority are just older Pathfinder spells reworked to be used in Starfinder. I don't see a single spell that can do as much damage as a range weapon does though, but there are a lot of decent utility spells, such as Walk Through Space which is a sixth level Magus/ Technomancer spell that allows you to teleport 30ft. every round. Sadly like a lot of spells in Starfinder it's not as good as just running as it's still considered a move action and you need line of sight. However you can teleport through things if you had a way to do so, such as something being transparent or seeing through it because of some form of x-rays.

Wasn't sure if this deserved its own thread or not. Either way, I think I'm gonna start drinking before noon today.

Dungeons & Dragons Promises to Make Its Adventures More Queer

Bit of old news, D&D has always been queer. I guess the R&D department no longer plays their game and of course no one at Kotaku has ever bothered to play.

That being said, do I get bonuses for being gay in a game? If no, WotC can fuck off with this shit.

It's been going on for a while, yes, but I thought this latest round of LGTBQ peacocking was worthy of notice.

Anyway, generations of school bullies have known D&D is queer since the late '70s.

If I ever have to play a 5th Edition game, I'm just going to run a tally of all the trans characters I kill that have no reason to be in the game. Paizo already has one in an adventure, now they just a problem with useless bi or gay characters that have no reason to be bi or gay. This shit doesn't progress these adventures in anyway.

Just picked up Starfinder, myself. Slow going in reading it since I'm running other games. I may scrap one of my games to make room for an experimental Starfinder one.

And threaten to make it Jupiter Ascending like I'm always threatening.

I was discussing SF with a friend of mine and we ended up joking that there's probably a ton of Han Soloes flying about right now.

Not hard to do, play as a human Operative with the Ace Pilot theme and focus on your small arms instead of sniper rifles.

I understand keeping the players in mind when DMing and not being an asshole (in a bad way), but they just can't be too cautious of killing off a character or dicking around. Maybe it's just me, but I've never gotten so attached to a character that it made me want to quit or fall into despair. I might be bummed for a bit if I really liked them, but it's something else if you treat it like a horrible trauma (besides, sometimes horrible deaths can be fun).

Also in this article of destructive myths, it's bad if the PCs are treated like the great influential stars of the game, because it supports the savior complex; there's not enough of a past or relationships for the PCs, focusing on the exploration factor when you're not thinking of the natives, experiencing adversary is a positive thing and violence being a problem solver.

I only got attached to one character, and that was my mage. Had him since 1986. I saw a lot of players/ characters come in go over the years.

My characters die so often that I rarely get attached to them.
