Or you can be like MvC3 and really lean into your most divisive character (Phoenix). It was incredibly hype seeing Phoenix players embrace being the heel while the crowd jeered them. It even went so far as having a Good (no phoenix) vs. evil (all Phoenix teams) 5v5 tournament, which damn near blew the roof off the venue.

The hype for Ashley was mainly because of her surprise popularity in Japan but even then, it's still not enough for her to be playable mainly because of the moveset opportunities. If she gets a main game at least and along with more games providing her with more attacks that would be different. Even Waluigi had more games than her.
And if I were to pick between Simon Belmont and Ashley, I'd pick the former in a heartbeat for pure NES nostalgia purposes and even him had an obvious better moveset and the trailer video proved it.

It's curious seeing these people issue death threats against Sakurai specifically because their character didn't make it into the game. What are they planning on doing, exactly? Are they gonna show up to his house and bludgeon him with a Gamecube controller because they can't play as their lolicon waifu?

This guy spent more time crying about some worthless side character than he would have actually spent enjoying playing as them if they actually were confirmed.
It's like he has nothing in his life that's greater than some niche character being playable in a spinoff game; and I'm very concerned that's exactly what's happening. At this point, I'm borderline convinced this guy hasn't even played the Wario Ware games, because all he does is whine and moan that the character deserves to be in without actually explaining why or even mentioning how she's a worthwhile character to begin with.

Wow, i spent the last 2 days squirming over Simon and K. Rool finally becoming Smash fighters and i had no idea of how these "Ashley fans" were mad, they are surpassing Waluigi "fans" by level of autism.

One thing I'll never understand is how little appreciation people have for the music in this game.
Like, jesus, the vampire slayer remix was awesome and k.rool's theme made donkey Kong as a franchise badass again.
I'd buy a switch and the game for that 900 piece soundtrack alone.

Everyone that whines about assist trophies/"MY WAIFU ISN'T PLAYABLE FUCK YOU SAKURAI!" just proves that the assist trophy was the best thing ever added in Smash Bros. Period.
Also, the reason why smash tards don't appreciate the music is because they literally only care about whose playable and whose not. They are really THAT shallow.
