Recent event with the Smash community, two actually involving many things, both Sakurai and Harada, along with character requests and going against the wishes of devs.
Yesterday a Hashtag was trending on twitter at more than 15k people tweeting #Sora4Smash, seems it was started up by twitter use HMKilla, who did basically what Sakurai asked fans to not do, @ him:
He proceeds to add to his thread that there was no harm in tagging Sakurai, but HMKilla is definitely not aware that anyone who replies to the thread will tag Sakurai unless they untag him:

HMKilla respond to a response from Harada, which he thought was about the Sora trend:

HMKilla still thinking his @ is the only one that goes to Sakurai's notifications itself:

But Harada's response was actually to this thread he got tagged in a number of times:
This thread proceeded to get a number of "For Smash" accounts blocked by Harada despite them never @ing him once, it was just Nick who clearly didn't know what Harada is like.

Harada explain his feelings further about the tagging of Sakurai

Harada is a treasure. He loves getting people riled up.

For reference, here is Harada's policy on making requests in person, as opposed to twitter.

Boohoo, your throwaway account for spamming devs with character requests got trolled. What do you expect when you act annoying in a public space? Admiration?

Some times, stuff like this makes me believe that introducing Snake in Brawl was like opening Pandora's Box

I think that's because when Snake and Sonic got in, it broke away the notion that 3rd party characters couldn't get into smash, which I had no problem with.

But now people are making it out that just anyone can get into smash due to Ultimate really blowing expectations out of the water to the point people feel there are no rules as to who can get in, who realistically fits into smash, and "X" deserves it more than "X" does. It's turned into a mess of entitlement with Sakurai trying to please the playerbase, but people still end up shitting on him despite the man working himself to near death.

Terry gets in and he looks more complex and fun than I expected and Sakurai adds a whooping amount of 50 songs including ones from frickin Metal Slug but the Smash autists on Twitter are all too busy shitposting about Mai Shiranui not getting in because Sakurai made a slightly funny joke about the reason she couldn't put her in the background.

God i fucking hate Twitter and I fucking hate gaming communities in 2019. I'm gonna rate myself "mad on the internet" for this.

I didn't even check but Oneangrygamer is probably sperging about it.

Jeez, calm down. Most of the shitposters are just doing it in good fun. The guys sperging about it are most likely in the minority.

It's actually more of the smash community complaining on reddit and twitter about how they hate having another input character like Terry when there is literally a roster of 70 other characters who have the more simplified play style they wanted to stick with. Worse of it is that most of the inputs are stupidly simple and just shows how smash players who want smash to be taken seriously as a fighter in the FGC and then get upset when actual fighting game mechanics are put into smash and it's only possible through 3 characters in the game, hell you don't even need the inputs to use Ryu, Ken, and Terry.

Just if you want to use them at their full potential, then just sit down and learn the inputs, they aren't hard and I find putting in the inputs more satisfying and fun cause I've had some experience with actual fighting games that inputs like Z, quarter circles, and things like that are not a problem for me to pull off, it's more natural for me that I do them unconsciously anyway, I want to learn the cancel animations cause I'm glad that is a KoF mechanic Terry was given, cancels and dream cancels are the shit always make watching KoF battles hype to watch.

Scrubquotes is just getting all kinds of them and it's the best thing ever: https://twitter.com/ScrubQuotesX

#FuckSora4Smash

I honestly feel bad for Sakurai and Harada.
Harada is the dev in the FGC that is most likely to just tell people to fuck off, and he’s been moved to a position of greater authority within Bamco over the past year. It’s entirely possible that their autistic screeching will lead to things in the game just to piss them off. Watch him get Sakurai to put a Mishima in Smash. Basic shit like a qcf or a super input makes them lose their minds; imagine what wavedash mixups and just-frame moves do to them.

Sora in Smash would be a fucking disaster. He just doesn't fit and his abilities are pretty much similar to Hero and Cloud. Also Disney would never agree to it.

Or more like Disney will find a way to buy out Nintendo in its quest to own all IPs.

I wouldn't want Sora in Smash less because of any thematic of gameplay issues and more because Disney is literally terrifying when it comes to copyrights. If Nintendo isn't affected in some way, then its playerbase will be.

Smash fans got salty over Smash not winning GOTY at the VGAs and there is no DLC reveal at the end, here is salt

smash is a celebration of gaming. Disrespectful to the entire game industry....

EDIT: I got more and as of this typing they are mass-disliking the stream for the VGAs because Smash didn't win and didn't have a reveal

Anyone got info about Leffen apparently trying Tekken and immediately sperging out about the rules for stage select for some reason? You’d think he’d get that considering Smash and Tekken are the only games in the genre where stage selection is important. You never let King have Forgotten Realm.

A wannabe leaker named Eric Daniel Ralfs who goes by Fatmanonice on Smashboards just released a manifesto about getting Geno in Smash.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S2J9qPVD5uMOrhfy29rz9_ot5MvAfNH2dhuAWRUhrhQ/edit (archive)

He frequents the Geno support thread on Smashboards, constantly posting meaningless essays and goes back and forth between saying he's a leaker and saying he's just a guy who makes predictions about the game. He used to be a mod there, too.
