I wanted to enjoy this game, but the Masonic references and the level where you gather children to sacrifice to Moloch really soured my opinion on it.

Time to play Spiderman 2, the most uplifting game of the decade, instead.

The Missle Meg Mayhem wonder effect where you flew into the twin towers was pretty based

I was playing 3d world a lot lately which has the best of classic Mario brought to modern settings. Characters with different movesets, a basic map, levels meant for speed, and no-frills 'achievements' (i.e. 3 stars, one stamp, top flagpole.)

Odyssey had the extra purple coins to unlock extra stuff now Wonder does too. Use purple coins to unlock easy mode instead of exploring.

Was playing in the first world, a level that said two Flowers (whatever the fuck they are.) found a secret exit that gave me an unlisted Flower but rhe secret exit didn't take me anywhere special though now I got three so I know that other levels have unlisted flowers...

Cool i got the floating cap and double wall jump. Why aren't these just normal powers. Badges are dumb, and there's going to be thirty of them?

Why is there no time limit, feels like no challenge. Ethos of a Yoshi game but without the exploring. Multiple characters but no different abilities, why? And all the dialogue...?? Why oh why

This is me just an hour or two in. I really hope there's some really hard fun levels behind all this fluff

The problem with 3D World was the length of the levels. They were way too short and there were too damn many of them. Kind of reminded of flash games where they'd just put 40-50 levels on a big list and the game got old after you played 3 of them.

Rayman Legends, which came out around the same time, really showed Nintendo who's boss. All the levels are of sufficient length and you have one new mechanic after another pushing you to completion. They bring back features from earlier levels in Rayman and they actually bothered giving them a twist to avoid repetition. In 3D World they just straight up repeat gimmicks in different worlds (all worlds play the same though) and you're just playing the same level again.

When the game was announced I felt like they'd maintain the shitty tradition of the New Super Mario Bros. series by making their games not challenging at all. I haven't played the game yet, but the removal of the timer and the score system makes me think I was correct. I'm still hoping the game is good overall because the new Sonic game was underwhelming.

I think 3d World did what it was supposed to do as far as level amount and length. It really was like all the Nes games rolled into one but in a 'futuristic' 3d environment. Not sure if any of the new 2d games (or the 3d games) really conpare tot hat experience.

Frankly I do think the New SMB U game is very good and has many challenges particularly in the vertical castle levels. That game also has a whole 2nd game time challenge with changed levels and wiggly Luigi physics...

As far as wonder goes, new Mario voice guy is pretty lousy and has a grating shriek instead of the classic falsetto. I have been losing lives but that's only cause I'm trying to get all the collectibles which is 100% like it should be a Yoshi game with that crap and no time limit. I'll have to get over it and just speed through I think. Really I'm not feeling this game and am not rushing to turn it back on.

Also all the talking from your caterpillar friend . Shut up dude

I think the removal of the timer system was made in consideration mostly for people who wanted to pace themselves for playing with others online. Idk why, something about helping a much shittier player make it to the end of a level just tickles my dopamine receptors.

Levels aren’t really designed around badges unless they’re the badge challenge stages. Having them all be normal powers wouldn’t have it play like a Mario game at that point and would just be way too messy. It’s just a boost to help less experienced players navigate the levels. There’s “expert” badges but idk what they are beyond being making yourself perma invisible. Otherwise they’re optional so why complain?

Not too crazy about the new Mario guy, he’s serviceable I guess but people saying he sounds just like Charles need to get their hearing checked.

Dialogue needs to be made skippable.

There’s still a lives system so there’s that I guess. Personally I’m just cruising through the game but i also have been playing in online mode which makes things significantly easier. Some interesting level challenges here and there. Id say play offline first if you want to gauge the difficulty of the game. Otherwise though I’ve been enjoying the game immensely.

Edit:

You faggots need to practice the 'ignorance is bliss' route. I only found this shit out because you guys dove into the depths of Hell and plucked this information from the pit of it. I just wanted to bitch about transformation fetishes in my Mario! Now I know Daisy is #TransRights
Like something even remotely? Don't google about ANY one behind the scenes.

You all owe me gallons of whiskey. Spoiler that shit next time.
I thought vetting politics was exclusive to Twitter libs? What happened? LGBT is pretty much an exclusively western thing and is getting pushback anyway. Eastern game devs are not going to change their personal stances on cultural norms/taboos, thats what they hire localization teams for.

Meanwhile, I treated player ghosts as homing one hit kill lava balls and gave friendly smiles when they time out.

To me it felt way too repetitive. I tried to do a 100% run and I eventually reached a point where I stopped caring and the levels were starting to blend together. Bowser's Fury solved this issue by putting the levels of a 3D World stage into an open world Mario game. It's a shame that the next 3D Mario game will be voiced by pedo Mario.

Is there any chance that Nintendo will fire that fag? Surely they didn't give a "literally who" that big of a contract.

The old one probably is too. Let that sit in your mind...
Charles Martinet's weirdness is too on the nose to be that sort of weird. And I am pretty sure Yamauchi would have had Martinet assassinated like Gunpei Yokoi if he had actually been a pedophile.

Not to imply that Yokoi was a pedo. He just failed to deliver and was shown an exit.

Just beat the game. I'm going to write some opinions later but I have one thing to say right now:

There is not a single 'Thank you for playing' at the end of the game. Fuck you nintendo.
