SRG marathon was the only decent one back when it was still going. The most pathetic non-meme one I've seen was one called Midwest Speed-fest.

The best meme speedrun marathon was Gay Weed Paloozathon. It was banned in hours of starting.

edit: here I was thinkin' MWSF was dead after it started, but they still try and do stuff. They're gonna raise money to....research alcoholism.

That thread on 4chan... it degenerated into people talking about "restoring" their foreskins. What a world. First run (or second?) done and the runner talks about raising money for mental illnesses. Welp, thats speedrunning in a nutshell, isn't it.
 
Someone on 4Chan trolled the organizer by saying that this marathon wasn't progressive enough (excluded FTM and Queer people) and they got a response. They didn't screenshot it but the person then referred them to another event called "Power Up With Pride", which is an all-queer speedrunning event

As I am sure you are all aware from his own thread, PMG will not be there this time. Hurray for normal viewing, aww come on for Kiwifarms styled cow watching.
 
The schedule this year looks pretty good, actually. With the absence of PMG maybe things will be more bearable this time around, what d'ya think everyone? 🤔

Maybe it'll get promoted back up to "background noise" for me in the evenings now, as that troony asshole was insufferable. I think that entire GDQ gig is just doomed at this point, though. I had a better time watching highlights of grandpoobear's Vegas speedrun sessions than I have from anything GDQ related ever.
 
To be fair, poo is one of the most entertaining runners out there, he gets a GDQ invite pretty much every year for one of the whole event's most popular games, he's way beyond average.

Woo woo, under a day to go and I am finally now digging into what our activities will be. First host is Nichole Goodnight and she has crazy person eyes. Thats not me kidding around either. All of her images are like the one below, except most of them also show off her poorly done dangerhair and bad teeth.

Her bio is that she is a weirdo voice actress who lives alone with only her cats and hedgehog to keep her company.

She does not, as far as I can tell, speedrun anything.

edit: You can X out the LTTP/SM run, as that one isn't actually a race, its two people playing together. Which defeats the point of a randomizer and defeats the point of having two games in one and is super lame. What shit, what absolute shit. Fucking hell guys. Hmmm, maybe that actually makes it a check by default?

Why do they always list their pronouns? No one gives a fuck, dude.

You know, sometimes I wish I had enough money to attend for the week; use it as an excuse to get away from the family. I even thought about how fun it would be to interact with the camera with different hats each break, ala Kirby or Hat Kid. I'll admit that watching GDQ is one of the few things that I'm enthusiastic about or get excited for anymore, because I'm a loser with no life outside of their job.

...But then I remember that GDQ is actually a super-serious and ultra-sensitive no-fun zone that does nothing but disappoint and/or disgust every time I try to interact with the community. And while I would inevitably run into at least one person that was cool or of a similar mindset as myself, I'm not extroverted enough for it not to be a colossal waste of money, because screw sharing a room with anyone.

Maybe I'll just walk into work with different masks each day this week. Because screw it, I'm a spaz for video games.

Also, the Spyro remaster looks better than I thought and I need it in my life.
