For those who missed my edit, I am livid that LTTP/SM randomizer is co-op instead of a race. I mean at that point you might as well just run them as separate randomizers. No fun allowed. That followed by Chronotrigger is the worst ending day I've seen in the two years I have been watching. With the exception of the SMW race that whole final day dies with Skyrim at 9 in the morning.

Why do they always list their pronouns? No one gives a fuck, dude.

You know, sometimes I wish I had enough money to attend for the week; use it as an excuse to get away from the family. I even thought about how fun it would be to interact with the camera with different hats each break, ala Kirby or Hat Kid. I'll admit that watching GDQ is one of the few things that I'm enthusiastic about or get excited for anymore, because I'm a loser with no life outside of their job.

...But then I remember that GDQ is actually a super-serious and ultra-sensitive no-fun zone that does nothing but disappoint and/or disgust every time I try to interact with the community. And while I would inevitably run into at least one person that was cool or of a similar mindset as myself, I'm not extroverted enough for it not to be a colossal waste of money, because screw sharing a room with anyone.

Maybe I'll just walk into work with different masks each day this week. Because screw it, I'm a spaz for video games.

Also, the Spyro remaster looks better than I thought and I need it in my life.

You can't concentrate this much autism safely. Fun here requires a willingness to embrace madness.

Jesus bloodfucking Christ, the first day isn't even over yet! It's too early for this shit!

Edit: I agree that the randomizer should be a race because co-opping that is stupid and boring, but isn't ending with Chrono Trigger (or some other RPG from the same era) the norm? ...Which still just makes it boring for everyone that's watched before, actually, unless there's a major route change.

I'm like, 80% certain that mascot's existence is the far left equivalent of bait. No way it was made genuinely or for anything else other than to piss off The Gamers.

Haven't seen any "women" on stream yet, but I haven't watched every minute so far. Are there any known lamdmines coming up later in the schedule?

Just a happy accident, it's just a creatively bankrupt leftover from someone's Sonic OC folder on their deviantart doodles.

Claris at midnight tonight is the only one I've heard of.

(Not my cap)

This was apparently GDQ's viewership when they interviewed Claris just now.
Damn, but he's got some fucking donkey teeth, doesn't he?

GDQ is only good for watching runs of sometimes obscure games. Don't care about the weirdos doing the runs, don't care about the charity or money or anything. It's at it's best when someone is just explaining the minutia of some game no one knows about.
All I want is for them to only talk about the techniques and fiddly little movements and timings the runner is doing. Don't crack jokes, don't tell stories, just for the love of God explain how the runner is pinwheeling across the screen at mach 5.

Ape Escape, finally a decent run. No shitty jokes from the runner and no pandering, just informative commentary. I'm probably just being a nostalgic faggot, as I haven't seen this game in almost 20 years though.

We've been drama light so far. But there's been a few things over the past few days that are of note at least. Mainly just tranny runs that were awful and... I guess that's about it.

Claris ran Metroid 2, seriously fucked up their timing and took way longer than expected, to the point of claiming >she was going to kill herself as a result of it being so crappy.
The Katamari run ended up with the tranny playing it basically being severely autistic and going over estimate, or at least hugely over their personal best.

But two of the more interesting ones were Texcorsist, where the runner choked and ended up basically running off nearly in tears because he had to type in latin, commentate and dodge at the same time. And the Split/Second run.

A few actually good runs too (Like Glover, which is being played as I shit this out.)

I'd seriously suggest anyone watch the Split Second run, if only for the utter shitstorm it sprouted on reddit and twitter. Viceroy, the runner, went full Bonesaw 2.0 with his (actually female) guest on the couch. Meme spewing, shittalking MSF, the sponsors, the event itself, even down to specifically giving a shoutout to Bonesaw and that he's probably going to get banned for this.

A few relevant reddit posts

In particular, he gave a shout out to the Discord server for the game itself, which made the admin go full damage control over it, acting like anyone gave a shit about their crappy game

Yo!
Main admin for Split/Second on speedrun.com here.
First things first, thank you everyone for watching our little speedgame, it was a pleasure to see Split/Second live on stage!
The game is mostly played via IL, the full game categories aren't that popular. But "All Detonators", the full game mode that Viceroy played at SGDQ, shows off the game very well - it's essentially a mix of Kaizo Mario and Burnout.
Yes, unfortunately Viceroy didn't use a lot of the tech (like pumpdrifting) that's available in the game and played it extremely safe.

GDQ tweeted this photo of the Katamari runner. Not very flattering.

Does it seem like there's less trannies this year, or am I just paying too much attention? I decided to try and tell this event if the numbers had gone down because it seemed like there was a concerted exodus over the last year.

I've had the marathon on more as background noise but aside from the few I think I've seen on the couch I haven't caught any troons doing runs. Makes it look like they're keeping them corralled into the graveyard to early morning hours to me. Split Second sounds like it'll be a nice change of pace. Guessing there was the usual outrage on twitter for not throwing him out then and there or something.

Dude trying to audition for a role as the big bad wolf? At least shave, man.

So thats what happened to Ollie after The Thick of It. Watching Texorcist now, thanks for the recommendation, will catch Split/Second after it.

edit: You all owe it to yourselves to watch the S/S run.

To be fair, if it was purely technical talk, it wouldn't be anywhere near as big as it is. The casual viewers, the ones they're trying to draw in, don't or can't follow half of what they're saying. Some just flat-out don't care, and are all about the spectacle of watching a game freak out without crashing, or seeing someone playing ridiculously well.

Though also to be fair, literally no one cares about the life stories of these runners.
